I have easy going nature that makes me work well with others, i am excited to experience every new challenge, also curious in learning architecture design. Working as an architectural assistant for the past years, In my day to day work, i has become more confident in articulating my own views and design expressions. I have come arcoss with several projects which involved a great deal of design practice, self-motivation, cooperation with other professionals from building industry and a wide range of skills for working effectlively as team. My experience in real life practice will no doubt provide a firm base that deepen my understanding and appreciation of what it tends to become a professional architect.

01 REVEAL village re v it a liza t ion | ma s t e r la y out pla n
Cape D’Aguilar is one of the “secrete garden” in Hong Kong, its beautiful natural view and historical value are worth for people to appreciate. However, due to recession in Cape D’Aguilar and inconvenient traffic, many villagers moved away and it became rarely known to anyone. Economically backward village from the typical reality and analysis of reasons, made to local rezoning, existing buildings conservation and partial redevelopment as the revitalization strategies. //On the other hand, in the modern concrete city, people live with substantial life-style, and forgot about their spiritual life. Especially the youngsters, they live in the society with quick development of the high technology and lack of motion in communicating with each others. All they need is to change their living style, learn how to appreciate the surrounding things and enhance the interaction among people. This project aim at revitalize Hok Tsui Tseung in Cape D’Aguilar, enlarge its features to attract tourists to Cape D’Aguilar and new residents to move in to enhance its economy. Besides, providing camping experience for the people to enjoy rural life and gather without any barrier.

02 TRY TWENTY u n iq u e s por t c omple x | high- r is e building
Stress is any change that require the body to response, people can experience good or bad forms of stress from the environment and thoughts. In Hong Kong, stress becomes negative because citizens face continuous challenges without relief or relaxation. As a result, they become overworked and stress-related tension builds. //The physical benefits of exercise have long been established, exercise is also considered vital for maintaining mental fitness, and it can reduce stress. Studies show that it is very effective at reducing fatigue, improving alertness and concentration, and at enhancing overall cognitive function. This can be especially helpful when stress has depleted people energy or ability to concentrate. The population in Mongkok is very dense and lack of public facilities, some studies show citizens who live in Mongkok with different age group are suffering high degree of stress. To develop sports related architecture, solving the shortage of health-care resources and improving their mental and physical health become the main issues for the citizens in this district.

03 HAVE BEEN sin g l e a r t is t mus e um | low- r is e building
Kwun Tong was one of the new industrial areas developed during 1950s to 1980s, many large-scale factories to construct their facilities there. Golden times did not last long, numbers of industrial industries relocating their factories to Mainland, resulted in vacancies in many massive factories, the industrial properties appear gloomy and dilapidated. Now the population and commercial activities grow rapidly in Hong Kong, many communities redevelopment projects have been implemented in recent years to fulfil the demand, Kwun Tong was the chosen one. To enrich the entire environment, putting arts elements into the community is the trend of the redevelopment project, like launching arts museum. Artist, Tim Silver, explores the interface among decay, grow and time to add the concept into his art piece. Besides, reminding people the history and appreciate the recent grow in Kwun Tong, the story of Kwun Tong is like a cycle of life which could be emerge into Tim’s art.

04 UNDERWATER p ap er h elme t wit h light ing de v ic e | mode l ma k ing
To taste how light is being experienced by sea living creatures under water. Light projects on human eye retainer to cause image to form. However, it is not necessarily that other living things, which have different eye configuration, perceive image in the same way as human do. Design of the “UNDERWATER” is inspired by aquarium and marine organisms. Water and coloured lighted are used in the design as to imitate the lighting effect in the aquarium. Hippocampus, which is also known as seahorse, is the prototype form of the helmet. The form of the helmet is inspired by the hippocampus. The skin of hippocampus is arranged in rings throughout their bodies. Different species have different number of rings. Therefore, the structure is designed as frame elements to fix the cardboard and to shape the form of the helmet.

design concept :-

Numbers of white rectangular strips with different dimension are stuck on the inner surface of the front part of the tube. They arranged one by one in vertically and horizontally on different slabs surface, in order to create an unexpected sequence. The slabs are pre-cast in trapezium, thus the strips create a sense of depth and prospection. The slabs flipped and formed a tube, the strips blocked the light source and small distance is set between the front strip and the one behind, thus, part of the strips surface behind are blocked and shadow is projected.
02
wave of light filtering
Light passing through water waves often gives a dynamic image of water motion. On the other hand, water can also acts as a filter to allow altering light path and pattern. Water is fluid which do not have a fixed shape. In order to capture the desired light effect, a small water is to be built and placed in the location with maximum amount of light. It is combined with the filter device on top of the helmet in a way the device is able to lock it in place. And like other filters, it is able to be removed and inserted. If the water filter is applied to building, it can also acts as thermo-mooderator to avoid indoor overheated by sunlight.
03
color of light projecting
Special effect can be produced when light transmits through straws with different sizes. Placing a light source at the end of straws allows diffraction and produces water wave effect. Cellophane is used for wrapping some of the straws and works as colored filter when light entered these straws. Straws are fixed onto the top, right and left side of the frame with an angle of less than 30 degree. Ring patterns are therefore projected onto the blocking screen randomly when one moves the light source along the two rows of straw.

05 FISSION ar ts p avilio n | building proj e c t de v e lopme nt t r a ining
This project is to propose an Arts Pavilion inside the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) where exhibitions and events can be staged by organizations, artists and designers. The pavilion will also serve as a major reception facility to provide tourist with information about WKCD. Our project team, consisting seven members composed of five disciplines of construction industry, including Architectural Studies (AS), Civil and Structural Engineering (CVSE), Building Services Engineering (BSE), Construction Engineering Management (CEM) and Surveying (SURV), is going to propose a viable preliminary design of the Arts Pavilion together with realistic construction method and program as well as cost estimation. As five disciplines are involved in a group, strong and high level of coordination and communication technique are required to ensure sufficient information of the proposed building can be provided by and used correctly among different disciplines. In fact, our group has faced and overcome a lot of technical or operational problems in the design and construction of the proposed building.

06 THE FORGOTTEN VILLAGE h akka villa ge a t La i Chi Wo | c ons e r v a t ion re s e a rc h
Once your go Lai Chi Wo, you would feel like stepping into another world and another time, the one without skyscrapers and vehicle. The secluded 400-year-old Hakka village is situated in Yan Chau Tong Marine Park and surrounded by a vast expanse of feng shui woodland in New Territories. Many villagers emigrated overseas for a better livelihood and education for their children in the 1960s, most of the houses were abandoned and fell into disrepair. Today, the village is mostly deserted, with no more than 17 inhabitants, but still retains many of its original Hakka traits. All the 211 houses were built within a feng shui wall, which according to traditional belief, keeps the wealth of residents within the village. In an attempt to revitalise the area and promote Hakka culture, the Hong Kong Countryside Foundation proposed a project to convert 12 deserted houses into holiday homes and create experiential learning activities for tourists.

CREATIVE ELEMENTS cultural revitalization
The character-defining elements of the houses must be further identified. One such element is the traditional pitched tile roofs. Lai Chi Wo has the most pitched-roofed houses out of any village in Hong Kong, giving it a classic, even antique feel. To enhance the whole structure and asthetic value of the houses, modern elements like high-level window wall would be incorperated in the design. And the conservation will not affect residents’ lives much because the holiday homes would only accommodate a small number tourists.
01
conservation of existing hakka cluster
02

03
outdoor activities on open ground
People alike benefit socially from outdoor physical activity. Participating in recreation provides residents and visitors with an opportunity to meet and build relationships with others. Participating on a event will help them to form lasting friendships with people who share your passion for outdoor recreation.
04
reception utilizing an existing village building
Preservation of existing buildings is a vital component of urban revitalization efforts. Tourism is often rooted by historic building, its powerful, tangible connections are the best ways in which people today come in touch with the past. Converting the historic building into reception could attract the tourist in the first eye and be more interest to the story of the village. Besides, demolishing a typical brick house produces tons of waste, this would be the most cost-effective method of conservation over new construction to achieve the goal.
05
empty space within village as outdoor theatre area
The pleasantness of being at one with nature is timeless. Outdoor theatre at countryside location is people living in more rural areas of the country can see theatre more easily like the residents and the visitors who rent the holiday homes.
ruinous area turning into art space
Some travellers who are not actively seeking out your standard tours and services, something unexpected might catch their eye, this is where the village could offer something that caters to them. Street art sounds fresh and memorable, it draws in the groups who want to see art, along with those looking for a glimpse into local culture. They might want to know more about these works of art but unlike a museum, information about the artist or the piece itself might be hard to find, which is good way for people to pay attention to the artist. On the other hand, for those living nearby, these murals can represent the community they call home.
06
The Hakka village is situated in Yan Chau Tong Marine Park and surrounded by a vast expanse of feng shui woodland near Sha Tau Kok, the natural environment is worth for cherish. To maintain this atmosphere, rain garden is proposed to reflect ancient natural systems in the village. It could help to create habitat for birds & butterflies, also protect the existing propertis and the community from flooding.

07 EMERGING LOFT u n co ver a h id d en pot e nt ia l f or liv e - wor k s pa c e in H K | t he s is
The purpose of this research is to explore the loft architecture in Hong Kong. By understanding the origin of loft architecture from foreign countries, loft is a widespread spatial typology that working and dwelling functions are included. Due to strong occupants’ demand, together with the public housing supply shortage and high property value, a preliminary estimation on an existing loft in Hong Kong is responding to the housing issue. As public concern in the loft conversion involves illegality, the loft movement still boosts unexpectedly. The project will collect reasons and analyse the phenomenon behind the loft movement in Hong Kong with five phases of methodologies, and further suggest the possible solution of having a loft which can treat as a contribution to art culture in the city. The evidence for the estimation and juristic restriction has been done by first two phases, namely literary research and archival research. The later phases are quantitative survey, interview and drawing analysis. The later stage of the drawing analysis will further investigate through convex and isovist analysis. The third phase of the data collection states what activities and who involve in lofts, and they will be incurred for the pros and cons of having it, looking further into three loft architectures for comprehending the attractiveness of loft through visual drawing. This research provides valuable information as loft is an immediate response to accommodate the need for housing, although the zoning law restricts the conversion. Because of all technical problems in the loft can be easily solved, loft becomes more popular among creative professionals in Hong Kong regarding the flexibility of the configuration, versatility of the program and guarantee of privacy within the work-live space to express themselves creatively. Either loft acts as a building type or spatial typology, loft got its possibility to diversify the space that is available for younger generations, and potential benefits the cultural environment and become an identity of the city.
