When I was a kid,

I thought adult life would be serious and boring. Like a soap opera.

6

8

Then, I figured out about exciting grown up games.

Like Money.

10

12

But it can drive you crazy to play it.

And you just have to.

14

16

Unless you’re like Simon.

He found a way to build his own world without money.

18

20

He uses things other people don’t use. Like the castle, which was uninhabited when he found it.

22

24

Nobody else wanted to live in this ruin.

Nothing really ever happens around here.

Everything is light grey, like the sky.

26

28

It’s paradise.

But it looks like hell.

30

32

In the castle’s backyard, there is a spa.

34

36

Simon had recently finished building it.

38

40

To survive the winter in this land.

42

44

Here, all the leaves fall from the trees, like in the movies. Then, some invisible power tortures you for months.

46

48

It drives some people mad.

50

52

Like a friend of ours who set himself on fire, but didn’t die.

54

56

Or Simon, who walks around talking to himself.

58

60

Saying things like

glass is liquid, that if you dive into a black hole, time will stop. And that he found a way to walk on the ceiling.

62

64

But it’s a secret.

66

68

Behind the castle’s backyard there is a deserted factory. We are not supposed to go there.

70

72

Simon says you have to be like a ninja when sneaking inside. To avoid getting caught.

74

76

He did perform quite impressive acrobatic moves at first. But then forgot about it and was loud as usual.

78

80

I found a mysterious, beautiful object in the factory’s workshop.

A small glass bulb with liquid metal inside.

82

84

It had a daunting magical power.

86

88

The world began bleeding darkness.

90

92

An obscure, undefined subversive might. Slowly soaking everything in sight.

94

96

Until light came back.

98

100

With the first days of spring.

102

104

It meant we had lo leave.

106

108

And a whole world forever disappeared.
