The Expo 2015 site is organized in thematic areas related to the food issue, main theme of the event. Every area is named ‘cluster’, that is a group of pavilions, one for each country partecipating. The project is about the Cocoa Cluster, hosting Cameroun, Ghana, Ecuador and other cocoa producer countries. The site given was structured in two parts, with constraints related to the general masterplan and general security parameters. The design focused on the public space, to guarantee
open areas for shows, exhibitions, food consumption and relax places. The seven pavilions are made on the same given modular structure, and may vary in dimensions and layout. The design of the urban forniture aims to recreate a forest-like environment, with organic and infesting elements. The external wrapping of the pavilions instead suggests fruits blossoming and reveiling their interiors, just like cocoa fruit does.

Urban and Architectural design Alcantara - Lisboa Architectural Design Studio V Professor Jorge Mealha
Masterplan
The Alcantara neighborhood is located near the city center of Lisbon. It’s an historic area, mostly residential; it’s close to the main dock of the city, which is soon to be dismissed as a commercial junction. The purpose of the workshop was to consolidate the fabric of Alcantara
Green system
and to create a stronger connection between the old city and the dock part. The first step was to identify the voids in this area, such as abandoned houses to reallocate, green filter areas, or big spaces formerly used for industry and trade.

Buildings: new/reallocated
Ground floor plan and public space
The project is based on the creation of a public space which is a connection between the old neighborhood, the Alcantara Terra station and the new area of the docks. His strategic position makes it the core of the whole urban project, with public services, shops, offices, green areas; it’s the big square that was missing. The project interests the whole area, starting from the top connections, made by elevators and bridges, in
order to overcome the different altitudes between the external residential areas and the bairro of Alcantara. In the southest part the void is filled with new residential buildings and green areas; is the point connecting to the docks. This new huge area, no more supposed to be a commercial and logistic knot, is designed with a park and small buildings, designed to host tourists, hotels, restaurants. The aim is also to retrain the waterfront with a long equipped walk.

Program
Via Stephenson Housing and Offices Complex Milan Architectural Design Studio IV Professor Paolo Caputo
Masterplan
Via Stephenson area is located in the suburbs of Milan, defined within its boundaries by several highways. This site is currently carachterized by a productive tissue. The aim of the project was to design a new masterplan with housing and offices, connecting this part of the city to the center of Milan. The planimetric development was based on different routes: one being the big central commercial avenue of the area, one serving the resident people, and one for the main traffic roads. The masterplan creates a serie of different public/private squares, all leading to the park at the extreme margin of the area. A linear green zone also laps the boundaries of the site, in order to appease the negative influence of the railway and of the highways.
The building I focused on is located in the main center of the area, and it’s composed by a skyscraper for offices and a linear building with mixed use. The relation with the public space is granted by a commercial front at the ground floor, located under a triple heights porch. The skyscraper is 150 metres high, and it is organized with a serie of setbacks, in order to relate in a softer way with the square in front of it. Every setback at its base coincides with a special function: restaurants, auditorium. The linear building at its left has a base with four floors of office spaces. According to the concept used with the skyscraper, a setback marks a special common space and the change of function: the last six floors host residencial unities.

Pavilh達o Transforma
The pavilion was committed by the municipality of Torres Vedras. The aim of the project was to create a pavilion that could be dismantled and replaced in other public squares all over Europe. The structure and the platform are therefore light, in wood and steel, and the wrapping is made
of a robust fabric. The two units can be joined, for covered exhibitions and events, or separated and placed in the squares as a stage and bleachers. The whole design process was guided by notions of flexibility and lightness.
