As Project Designer in the building/technical department, I designed the accommodation and the lobby area of a 3-star hotel, as well as the common areas of a 4-star hotel in Shanghai. I acquired much experience in relation to French building codes and regulations concerning construction, accessibility and fire safety, and also in project management support, project supervision, costs management, and customer and supplier relationship management. Furthermore, I designed feasibility studies for the conversion of offices into 3-star hotels and led interior design research for 3/4-star hotels and restaurants. From my time at the Louvres Hotels Group, I learnt to manage projects for different hospitality buildings from conception right through to hand-over on site.

Louvre Hotels Group is the second major enterprise in the hospitality sector in Europe and amongst the Top Ten in the global classification. In February 2015, the Chinese Jinjiang International Group acquired the activities of Louvre Hotels Group. With this new alliance between Asia and Europe, the company of French origin now has a network that operates nearly 3,000 hotels worldwide. During this professional experience, which lasted almost two years, I focused on technical construction and marketing design. Working within two different fields was very interesting because it allowed me to have a better understanding of the various work-phases of a building construction project and its branding (3-star hotel Campanile brand and 4-star hotel Golden Tulip brand). Working in this company allowed me to be involved in several international projects. 2

THE ASIAN MARKET AREA The restaurant area is supposed to receive businessmen, tourists and regular customers. I proposed, in order to organize the wide space, to create a project taking the inspiration from “El Nacional Restaurant in Barcelona. El Nacional is the first restaurant in Barcelona with different areas where it is possible to try traditional recipes from around the Iberian Peninsula. Without leaving the establishment, there are four culinary areas and four specialised bars to choose from. A multi-zone culinary establishment, where each of the sections has its own unique characteristics, creating the sensation that there are different experiences to be had within the same restaurant. This restaurant represents an innovative concept that will mark a turning point in culinary trends and will be the new meeting point of Shanghai. The project was then developped by B3 Designers & Branding.

Summer kitchen -PRIVATE CLIENTLocation: Carthage | Tunisia Client: Sara | Private client Program: Renovation Gross floor area: 39m2 Date: January 2016 This project was to renovate and transform an unused outside space into a summer kitchen of 31 m2. The purpose was to create a new space, extending the existing courtyard house. The client, a French girl with Tunisian origin, wanted to give her family’s house a touch of traditional Tunisian architecture. The summer kitchen opens onto the courtyard, with Mashrabiya-style windows carved from wood. This traditional Arabic architecture technique is used to provide shade and protection from the hot summer sun while allowing the cool air from the street to flow through. The interior space, composed of an open kitchen and a small living and dining area, has a modern design with a touch of traditional Tunisian decoration.

ARGAN traditional body care - RMU & SEATING AREA PROJECTARGAN is a project for “RMU & seating area” in a shopping mall of Middle East region. The objective was to design the kiosk in the public space Shopping Mall with a look and feel consistent with the concept of the whole, in order to increase its gross leasable area and give more entertainment to public space and flow areas inside it. The analysis of global retail phenomenon from their historical settings to the current democratization of “large scale” consumption led to this niche products brand. It is based on body care products like soaps, body creams and essential oils made with the natural Argan essence. Argan oil is a plant oil produced from the kernels of the Argan tree that is endemic to Morocco. It has become increasingly popular for cosmetic use. ARGAN kiosk is a space that communicate typical and authentic values of middle east culture (rituals, architecture, preciosity).

PANTONE 360° campaign & new point of sale This virtual branding project was about creating a new point of sale and a 360° campaign for a brand without a physical point of sale. The aim of the project is to satisfy the needs of the brand using technology (internet of the things, Social Media, Big Data, ...) as a tool to get the goals of the campaign. Technology nowadays works as a media that allows interaction between the brand and its target. The PANTONE 360° campaign is based on a deep analysis of the brand, its values, its competitors and its target. The 360 Campaign linked to the launch of this new P.O.S is based on emotions users, in order to create an unique and personal experience between the consumer and the brand. PANTONE was an inspirig brand for its strong values that make it a milestone in its sector and the the word of design, fashion and society. A real trendsetter.

THE CAMPAIGN

The idea of campaign came after the SWOT analysis. This planning method highlighted The Color of the Year event as a strong opportunity. We decided to use this particular event as the subject of our campaign: The Color of the Year 2017. A BREAKTHROUGH

If before The Color of the Year was a simple description of modern society, for the first time The Color of the Year 2016 is a response, a cure for our sick society.

Light with transition -LIGHTING INSTALLATION IN L’ILLA SHOPPING MALL-

Location: L’illa Diagonal Shopping Mall, Barcelona Professor: Jordi Ballesta - Anoche Studio Program: Retail design - ELISAVA Postgraduate Program Date: October 2016

43

This project aims to improve the main entrance and the garden of L’Illa Diagonal shopping mall in Barcelona. The essential problems that we wanted to resolve is the lack of attraction and appeal of the main entrance and the central garden. The garden communicates with the main entrance and it is in the core of the building, but there is no relation with the interior retail area. Our goal is to attract people into the mall. As L’Illa Diagonal shopping mall was conceived as a natural isle in the urban landscape, we decided to get inspired by the nature.

The subject of the lighting installation is the sea water and its engery. We want to simulate a swirl and the waves to create a marine atmosphere with sparkeling drops and sea reflection of the light. Purpose to attract people stuck in the urban jungle and to give an experience of peace and wellness with the natural element. A break from the city. For the installation we got inspired by reflecting installation, who represent the idea of water that is reflecting and also by installation who has more the colors blue and green so we can give the idea and the experience of water.

Expansion of the new Mechanics Hall | EPFL - DOMINIQUE PERRAULT ARCHITECTURE Location: Campus EPFL | Lausanne | Switzerland Program: Construction and expansion of the Mechanics Hall for the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne SHON: 20 000 m2 Construction dates: Summer 2012 – May 2016 Stage: Pre-construction

49

The project of Dominique Perrault Architecture for the Ecole Polytechnique FĂŠdĂŠrale de Lausanne (EPFL) is to preserve the connecting axes that bridge the campus, while demolishing the aging halls. It houses the administrative offices of the department of Engineering consisting of offices and research laboratories, as well as some office spaces for the department of Biology. The building, which serves as a large-scale experimental playground and laboratory for research scientists, consists of two wings connected by a large central atrium.

The atrium, a reception and social area serving the office spaces, is the beating heart of the building. Straight stairways and flared corridors flow diagonally from one level to the next and from one side to another, filling the central void with a blur of lines. The mechanical façade stands to the East, South and West of the building. Each module is made up of two superimposed layers: an inner skin offering thermal insulation and soundproofing, and an outer solar protection, consisting of a frame holding the signature metallic mesh.

With its wide open plan and high ceilings, the atrium goes above and beyond its primary purpose as a reception area, turning into a space for experimentation. Placed at a crossroads position on the campus, between different disciplinary fields and as an entrance point for hyper specialized technical laboratories, the atrium is conceived as an accessible door to knowledge and an empirical, experiential space. 53

ACADEMIC

CULTURAL

This academic project had a specific aim, which was to ensure that the memorial museum was strongly related to the location and the past events. The “Altopiano of Asiago, a plateau in the northern Italian Alps, is sadly well-known for the battles between Italian and Austro-Hungarian empire soldiers during the First World War, in 1916. Because of this battle, 230 000 soldiers died. This area still carries the marks of the combats: the explosions of grenades and the excavations of trenches. The Memorial Museum project takes the form of a trench for its structure and lay-out, even if on a larger scale. The museum itself is below the surface and the corridor-like passageway in the open air leads to the different buildings, giving the impression of being in a trench. The upper level follows the mountain decline and faces the open area, the starting point of the path of the battles towards the mountaintops. The Memorial Museum has different sectors: an educational classroom, an accommodation facility for students and mountain hikers, and a refreshment stand. The materials used are raw concrete, stone walls and timber as a brise-soleil. The museum is itself perceived as a memorial path, where visitors can empathize with soldiers’ feelings.

Farm apartments in urban area -ATELIER TARABUSILocation: Jouy-le-Moutier | France Program: Competition for 65 flats and a car park SHON: 4300m2 Costs: 620K € HT Stage: Competition

The project for 65 flats is located on a farmland near Bois d’Auteuil, a village next to Paris. This building is situated on the outskirts of a residential village, acting as the border between the countryside and the urban city. The project is inspired by agrarian world architecture and as such, reinterprets farm typologies with a contemporary approach. Project walls are characterized by the use of a single material, timber cladding, which is used in two different varieties, depending on the orientation of the facades. The wood structures on the east and west facades are modular and vertical, while on the north and south wide façades they are thicker and ribbed. Particular attention is paid to the management of rainwater, with a retention basin that can be used to water the rest of the garden. According to the general idea of the project, private outdoor spaces are conceived for inhabitants to use as garden plots, following the idea that green spaces are used as shared gardens. The project’s philosophy is based on achieving a sustainable way of living in a urban/countryside landscape.

Requalification of the river territory -MASTER’S DEGREE FINAL PROJECT-

75

LANDSCAPE

ACADEMIC

The final project for my master’s degree was to restore abandoned areas in my region. The project arose from an in-depth analysis of the river Piave area and its basin. Since the Roman Empire this river has always had a high importance for daily life. The river was used to transport raw material, irrigate fields and to grind wheat. More recently, hydropower was used to create electricity. For this reason, during the XX century, various hydropower plants were built in the Alps with various facilities: impoundment, diversion, and pumped storage to create energy. However, many of them were abandoned after some decades for different reasons and closed. The closure of a plant often implies a freeze in the local economy and the abandonment of the surrounding area and villages. During the analysis, my project coworker and I noticed an interesting area around a beautiful, abandoned hydropower plant that produced run-of-the-river hydroelectricity using the difference in altitude of the water level. It was closed because the water level changed and the diversion was no longer possible. Lozzo and Pelos, two villages next to the plant, have urban problems as a consequence of this abandonment and have lost their harmonious relationship with the river. Our project aimed to restore this relation with the river Piave and requalify the plant, improving the local services for the inhabitants.
