Visitors’ Pavilion Staedelschule Architecture Class {Final Thesis} 2015

The idea of the object is a system of sensitive membranes, which are connected with each other like cells of the soft nonlinear system. One cell could affect the entire structure by deformation of its membranes, which would entail the deformation and restructuration of neighbour cells. Eventually the whole form inhales and exhales, being affected by the environment factors.

Each cell is constructed with the reinforcing frame and flexible core covered with the stretchable material, tension parameters could be controlled by the changes of the environment conditions, what could be a humidity, insolation, wind intensity or manually controlled in terms of expanding the space according the variable capacity.

The Visitors’ Pavilion is to serve as an all-year information and event centre for the church in Oberelchingen. Equipped with layers of history, the church as well as the Oberelchingen community are looking to strengthen their identity and offer in relation to general tourism and specific visits to the church and its services. The church hosts a pilgrimage that marks the seven sufferings of Maria Magdalena and sees several thousand people come to Oberelchingen to take part in the rituals. The whole structure of pavilion is supposed to connect the church building and pope’s house, creating a new environment of the garden inbetween them. It would provide this space with indoors and outdoors activities being connected with each other. The object could be also used for social events, exhibitions of local artists, theatrical perfomance and simply as a playground for children. The main purpose of the pavilion is to become a new cultural center of the city.

The main idea of the pavilion is to blur the border between exterior and interior in different levels, strengthen their relationship by intersecting them visually and physically using a flexible structure, which qualities could change the perception of space, and its soft transformation into environment. The inner space of the structure has a multidirectional quality which is also supplied not only by horizontal axes of view, but also by vertical. The presence of a person in this space is synchronised the disorientation of his position because of the flexible net structure of the floor, which allows the person to determine himself in the fluid centre of that space, being overexposed to the environment. The form of the structure with its alternations of the wells and the ‘body’ creates two levels of circulation - lower level which has direct connection with the environment and visual connection with the upper level with its multi directionality of circulation.

Sailor’s Home personal project (concept) 2014

For the blinds I took Teak because it is used extensively in boat decks, as it is extremely durable and requires very little maintenance.

The opportunity of full surface glazing is used to cover the whole facade with solar transparent cells which will make it totally independent from the grid.

The wooden core is made of Oak that has been a historically popular boat building material – particularly for heavy constructional purposes.

The structural solution of the house was inspired by the pier principle, which is oriented parallel to the direction of waves reducing the cross loads caused by the water flow.

Framed Life Moscow Architectural University (Final Thesis) 2011

In pursuit of the contemporary approach for the unification of living I took quite developed direction of it in shipping containers usage. But the difference of my view on this issue is in structural solution of the arrangement of the living units. The main aim is in achieving the lightness of the whole mass of the unit structure and at the same time bringing more flexibility in the restructurization of the containers´ arrangement such as replacement and input of the living units. The main concept implies the initially built steel frame structure with the vertical connection units which afterwards could be fullfilled with living units. Each apartment could be combined from several units and spread around the frame using it´s empty slots.

Each element is held by the hawser suspention system with the fixation on 8 nodes of the core structure. The unit itself is connected to the plumbing services system and electricity net which also provides the unit with the heat. Every one hundred meters the frame structure is penetrated by a vertical connection core which consists of 3 main units such as staircase, elevator and corridor. All of these elements are also held by suspention system. Units themselfs are divided by function such as kitchen, bathroom, and living room and have a unified connecting element inbetween. The configuration of the metal core allows to combine the elements in different directions openning several possibilities of views and visual privacy.

If we could abstract from the metaphorical envelopes and look at the “naked body of the building, we could explore it as a collage of different spaces connected, intersected or welded together. Behind this collage lies a complicated system of human relationships organised by these volumes, but at the same time that order of these volumes was built on the rules of interconnection in society. The main type of space in this system which represents social connectivity is the corridor.

Orchestra Luminale Frankfurt (students’ collaboration) 2014

Orchestra is set out as a collaboration between architects, computer scientists, media facade designers and an LED manufacturer to find novel ways of integrating architectural form and animated media. The Project was exhibited for one week in the context of LUMINALE 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany. Our research interest is based on the circumstance that architects and designers might not always be able to prototype even early instantiations of interactive media architecture in a timely way, and explore the design opportunities that these systems provide, because till today methods and tools in this domain are hardly available and they still demand high technical expertise. We created this object using custom made prototyping tools that help to co-design and pre-test interactive media faรงade installations in conjunction with potential users in their urban environment.

What Does Moscow Want Strelka Institute Research (published version) 2013

As a result of research of Department of Culture in 2013 it appeared that 70% of citizens of Moscow do not go to the museums. To reduce this amount I suggest to put the museums and their expositions closer to places where people spend the joyfull part of their free time, what means to parks and boulevards. As soon as these exhibition spaces are supposed to be placed everywhere, I consider to unify their form for simplification of production and fast construction on a place. In this regard I decided to give them the modular form which will represent cube. In search of a form of space in which the person will feel most comfortably, I stopped on a dome of the Pantheon in which the whole space of the temple is given to harmonious unity and at the same time produces the effect of its volume visual infinity. For space saturation by natural light I provided it with skylights of various configuration on the top part of a dome depending on function of the room and demanded degree of insolation. This space will have enough place to fit a small exhibition of painting or sculptures, small presentations or lectures with a capacity about 25 people; also using advantages of a dome form it is possible to use it as a small observatory, at the same time it’s a good space for media exhibitions with projection of media on the whole surface. These objects could be grouped in a big exhibition complex with a certain program of the exposition.

German Pavilion German Design Council Milan Triennale of Design (executed) 2016

An exhibition project with a workshop character: our design workshops invite active co-creation in the context of history and current reflection. Pupils from all types of schools can develop their own approach to design in practice-oriented workshops. They experience the design process and develop products for their own personal environment. Led by renowned designers, they acquire aesthetic principles and then it’s on to their own designing ‌

An (almost) true-to-life design studio serves the young talents as an exhibition and workspace, equipped with workbenches, tools, material supplies and high-stacking shelves for the presentation of prototypes. Historical products and exhibits illustrate Germany’s participation in the Triennale in the earlier days. More and more new works from the design workshops are taking an ever increasing amount of space in the exhibition: living symbols of a dynamic process and its transformation.

The main aim of the design code for the park is to unify and bring the filling that everything is built up using one element, like “lego. This solution will help to create a common stylistic image for all objects in the park, despite different geometry and function.

The base for the design of the objects is the traditional russian wooden house, which is simplified to the minimalistic form. Wooden elements are placed with a regular rhythm and have a gleam for the aim of natural airing and achieving lighter shape of objects.

COMA Contemporary Museum Of Art Tsimailo Lyashenko & Partners Helsinki (competition) 2014

Guggenheim museum gives a striking image of something that comes to one’s mind when thinking of Finland. The image of the future museum as a symbol of Helsinki is a magic grove on a lakeside that accumulates in its crowns mysterious wonders and passion for beautiful. Art objects are sort of wonderful creatures that inhabit the branchy woods. The crowns of the trees dipped into the unruf ed surface of the water remind us of the context and create a beautiful image of the unique Finnish nature. The structure of arches-comas formes a double image of a forest and a temple which makes the public space open and attractive.

The coma in this structure performs a symbolical duty of an artery that nourishes the space. Everyone can nally make a childish dream come true and climb over a tree enjoying the stirring atmosphere of a mystery. Viewers can nd themselves in extraordinary spaces formed by lancet archs that dissolve gradually in the soft light that comes through frosted glass of the facades and lanterns. The clear layout and arched silhouettes of the construction form the unique owing structure of the museum. Semi-transparent glass creates a pleasant hazy light and makes the outward image of the museum even more mysterious. Depending on a season, the museum becomes either a snowy or a sparkling forest twinkling in autumn colours by evening-glow.
