THE YOUTH ASSEMBLY 

a non-profit and volunteer organization.

founded by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 2005.

As a model of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Assembly.

The representative of the 2.1 million young people living Istanbul.

1 2.106.359 people aged between 15-24 living in Istanbul according to last TUIK data in 2011.


AIMS AND OBJECTIVES By taking social responsibility; 

To create social awareness,

To raise of respect cultural diversity,

To establish inter-cultural relations,

To improve leadership of youth,

To support education and training,

To work on youth employment,

To promote volunteering,

To affect decision making mechanisms.

MEMBERSHIP 

Members of Istanbul Youth Assembly have the opportunity to express themselves and their opinions and ideas.

Members are required to be;  Aged between 16-25,  Istanbul Citizens,  Eager to be involved in volunteering projects.  

Number of full members for 2 years is 301. There is no limit for number of volunteer members.

WORKING 

The members are oriented to 16 different commissions by considering their interests. Each commission develops and participates local, national and international projects, events, activities about their fields of interest.

To study and prepare the reports about the European Union.

To follow up the negotiation of the Turkey for EU membership.

To develop and be partner to Youth in Action Program projects.

To build network with the youth organizations from the Europe.

Totally 38 full members have been volunteer in this period.

More than 140 young people worked in the commission as a member.

Totally 53 members participated abroad projects and trainings.

1 Youth in Action Project funded by European Commission in Istanbul.

The members participated 12 different training courses in out of Istanbul.

6 Youth in Action Program partnership projects in abroad.

Full members participated the 22 abroad activities by individual initiatives.24

More than 1130 young people joined the projects and trainings.

We gave 320 signed certificates to projects and trainings’ participants.

Spending for overseas travels 0 Turkish lira from the municipality budget.

80% of spending for all activities funded by European Union Programs.

Total flight time of the members more than 550 hours in the World.

More than 400 meetings realized to develop the projects.
