Local campaigners believe a Community Council for QP is essential to ensure the needs of local residents are heard and acted on; and that this is the best way to defend against the worst effects of the cuts to local services.

However, the decision to allow residents in Queen’s Park to go ahead with the proposal lies with Westminster City Council. So a resounding show of support by residents at the public meeting on 18th June is essential to prove to Westminster Council that there is popular support for this proposal.

Briefing note for group facilitators

Each group will be discussing 2 questions in half an hour. 1) Does anyone have any questions about how a community council would work? If there are questions that you cannot answer as a facilitator you need to write them down so that they can be answered later. 2) What sort of things do you think the community council should do for Queen’s Park? An existing list of ideas, which are also shown on the tree, is attached to this note which you can use to stimulate discussions and give people an idea of what we’re talking about. You’ve also got some pictures to illustrate the different levels of activity that may help. (see below) Any new ideas that come out of your group discussion need to be written down on one of the post it cards that will be available. People can write their own, or you can offer to write them down for them. 16

This visual aid was used in some groups to explain the relationship between level of precept (ÂŁ) and level of service activity
