The Urban League of Greater St. Louis put out the call for assistance and the Epsilon Lambda Chapter answered the call which was led by Brothers Michael Ferrer, Henry Woods, Quentin Chambers, Darryl Jones and Glenn Miller. Each classroom at the Urban League Head Start building was provided with pumpkins in recognition of National Head Start Day and to ensure that although the current pandemic has changed the way everyone functions, students were still able to celebrate a safe Halloween. A total of 30 pumpkins were purchased and delivered to the center for students as well as the staff. This is one of many efforts that the chapter’s Foundation will continue to do with the Urban League. Students and staff were able to enjoy the visit by the Brothers as well as the donations.

Due to the ongoing pandemic along with representing our motto: First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All, Bro. Harlan Hodge spearheaded a collaborative effort with the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, Inc. and the Federation of Block Units to serve the greater St. Louis area in both the city and county regions. Volunteers and drivers were recruited to support the Urban League’s food packing and delivery efforts. This is an ongoing initiative that our citizens are facing during the pandemic. The members of the Epsilon Lambda Chapter and other volunteers packaged over 300 boxes of food for distribution to families in one day.

MLK 2021 Observance Thank you brothers for continuing the dream

Proverbs 29:18 18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that

keepeth the law, happy is he.

Chaplain’s Corner

Brothers, We have just come through a tumultuous year in which the lives of nearly Jerome Carroll, Chaplain every person, directly or indirectly, have been affected on some level globally due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands have died here in America while many have lost their jobs and businesses placing a strain on many households while simultaneously exposing weaknesses in relational bonds. These are undoubtedly perilous times that we are living in. To make matters worse, we witnessed a domestic insurrection resulting in the siege at the Capitol building on January 6, 2021. Not since 1814 has our nation experienced an event like this. But this act did not stop Congress from resuming their meeting and counting the votes that certified the results of the 2020 Presidential Election which saw President-elect Joe Biden and Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris make history. Scripture tells us that “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” This literally means that where there is no prophetic utterance the people cast off restraint and run wild . Now more than ever, Brothers, we must light and lead the way. While looking to God we must “encourage the highest and noblest form of manhood, and, aid down-trodden humanity in its efforts to achieve higher social, economic, and intellectual status.” Let us humbly be change agents who inspire a generation.
