SETAPAK
HISTORY & BACKGROUND Kampung Puah is the second oldest Malay Village in Klang Valley after Kampung Baru. It was established around 1930s. Before the establishment, Setapak is one of Gombak district and their natives are tribes of ‘Orang Asli’ which led by Tok Batin and Minang people. The Minangkabau people from West Sumatra came to Setapak and built their village there. Most of tribes that migrate to Tanah Melayu that time are from Kajai, Batu Bara, Tembusai and Orang Kuantan tribes. The most prominent ethnic group found in Setapak is the Kajai group. Meanwhile, the Puah tribe from West Sumatra came and built their village in Setapak and called it as Kampung Puah.
