elcome to our first ever Expressions Virtual Gala!

While we can’t gather in the same room, we can celebrate the same incredible students of Baltimore School for the Arts. The format of the gala has changed, but the mission has not. Now, more than ever, we ask you to believe in the students of BSA. It has been an extremely challenging year, but your continuous support sustains us, and helps BSA to remain resilient and forward-moving in the face of this pandemic. Our theme this year is Creative Connections. Tonight we celebrate the collaborations that create art, as well as the connections our faculty, students, parents, board members, and our community make to support the next generation of creative young people in Baltimore. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the dedication of those who have supported this virtual soiree, especially the tireless efforts of the Expressions Committee and its leadership, and all of our sponsors and donors. While this will certainly be different from the previous years, we trust that you will enjoy this communal celebration of BSA’s excellence, resilience, and momentum. We thank you for your generous support of Baltimore’s young artists. Chris Ford Director

Welcome to Baltimore School for the Arts We are one of the top five public performing arts high schools in the country, and we combine a rigorous college prep program with pre-professional training in the arts. We offer programs in dance, film, music, stage design and production, theatre, and the visual arts. Our students spend four hours a day in art classes, taught by working professionals, and four hours a day in academics. Sure, they’re becoming excellent artists. But they’re also building skills such as collaboration, time management, discipline, and grit. The result? Our high school graduation rate is close to 100 percent, and our six-year college graduation rate is 81 percent, well above the national average. Our alumni can be seen on Broadway and television, in films, in major galleries, and in dance companies. Others can be found analyzing stocks on Wall Street, working in in well-respected hospitals, and running their own start-ups.
