New seed treatment approved for control of seedling blackleg in canola Early control of seedling blackleg reduces seedling death and late-season stem cankers SALTRO® DUO will enable Australian broadacre farmers to realise the full yield potential of canola crops The successful registration of Syngenta’s new, unique SDHI fungicide makes SALTRO® DUO the only canola seed treatment combination that controls seedling blackleg, pythium and rhizoctonia. “With SALTRO DUO, we are truly providing growers a powerful combination that has never been seen before,” said Syngenta Product Lead for Broadacre Seedcare, Katie Slade. SALTRO DUO is the combination of two powerful seed treatments, specifically designed for Australian canola growers. Containing SALTRO (a unique SDHI fungicide), Pydiflumetofen, and the recognised high performer MAXIM® XL, this fighting combination provides the most powerful protection against seedling blackleg, rhizoctonia and pythium.

By protecting against these wide range of seedling diseases, SALTRO DUO encourages rapid, uniform emergence and increased seedling establishment under all conditions. READ MORE | Pacific Seeds notes vigorous establishment in SALTRO DUO trials “SALTRO DUO helps crops reach their full potential by optimising seedling emergence, root development, early leaf protection and crop vigour,” Katie said.

“It is providing a level of protection previously unseen, against early blackleg infection.” This increased protection, through the SDHI chemistry, is allowing the crop to develop at a more rapid rate, growing through that early period where canola is susceptible to blackleg infection. This is reducing seedling death and, in turn, reducing stem cankers later in the season.

“The added benefit of MAXIM XL creates an increased root mass through protection of lateral roots and fine root hairs from pythium and rhizoctonia damage - enhancing access to soil nutrients and moisture, resulting in healthy, vigorous crops.” I'm not a robot

SALTRO DUO delivers good seed and crop safety for complete grower peace of mind. “There is no shortening of the hypocotyl, no negative interaction with herbicides and no effect on seed viability,” Katie said. With its wealth of benefits, SALTRO DUO is a valuable investment to ensure crops receive their best start toward full yield potential. “Through improving plant health in the important first four to six weeks of crop development, when yield potentials are determined, SALTRO DUO is key to ensuring growers achieve optimum yield,” Katie said. SALTRO DUO will be available as a convenient twin pack containing SALTRO and MAXIM XL. The synergy of the SALTRO DUO treatment is greater than the sum of its parts, improving seedling establishment and survival against key seedling diseases. Screenings and downgrading can be a real hassle. Managing crown rot can now begin at planting with VIBRANCE.

VIBRANCE® will continue to be the broadest spectrum seed treatment available to Australian cereal growers for controlling damaging seed and soilborne diseases, with the added benefit of managing crown rot. Trials conducted across a number of growing regions in 2018 showed that the use of VIBRANCE delivered a 16% yield improvement versus untreated crops. This was 10% over Evergol Energy and 7% over Rancona Dimension. The new registration makes VIBRANCE the most cost-effective seed treatment option in the fight against this damaging disease, while adding to the already extensive list of diseases on the product label. “Managing crown rot in our farming systems has always been a difficult task. Adding to this pressure are often one or more ‘hidden’ soil and stubble borne diseases that compound yield losses and cause downgrading” said Syngenta Technical Services Lead Sean Roberts.

VIBRANCE has always helped cereal crops develop stronger root systems and ultimately healthier plants through the control of flag smut (both seed and soil borne), common bunt, loose smut, covered smut, and seed borne net blotch and Pythium , whilst also providing suppression of seedborne fusarium head blight caused by Fusarium spp. and white grain.

“When you add the superior colour, application ease and dust-off qualities of VIBRANCE with the broadest control of cereal diseases available to the market, it really does give growers the strongest start possible for their crop,” Sean said. Last name

Have the confidence to invest in a better crop by knowing Syngenta is willing to share with you the risk of low rainfall. The AgriClime offer: • Up to 30% cash-back • The less rainfall, the higher the cash-back • Minimum of two (2) products to qualify • $15,000 minimum spend on participating Syngenta products Two 60 day offer periods:

• 1st August - 29th September 2019 registration CLOSED

• 1st September - 30th October 2019 registration CLOSED

Purchases between October 2018 to September 2019 inclusive are eligible.

How does the new offer work? To qualify, growers must purchase a minimum of two eligible Syngenta products to a combined minimum value of $15,000. Purchases between October 2018 and September 2019 are eligible. The actual sign up can be done later, but it’s worth weighing it up now to see what Syngenta products (listed above) might be a good fit for your farm. • Smaller 5 X 5km Grid Cells offer a better fit with your farm and rainfall patterns • The Rainfall Threshold is now set to a 1-in-5 year rainfall event for the nominated Grid Cell • This equals twice the chance of a cash-back compared to the previous offer • Less rainfall = higher the cash-back • If rainfall is recorded below the Rainfall Threshold a cash-back is triggered. This payout will increase as the rainfall figure decreases, to a set exit point of 30% cash-back

New online sign-up Syngenta has revamped the online signup tool to help you opt into the best offer for you. The key changes include: • Smaller 5 X 5km Grid Cells offer a better fit with your farm and rainfall patterns • Quickly and easily switch between offer periods and Grid Cells on your farm to see what is the best offer for you • A confirmation email will be sent to you and your advisor within five minutes of submission • PDF confirmation will be available for download on submission (Starting in March 2019)

The online signup tool also provides an example chart to explain the model used for AgriClime. It demonstrates those years in the past 20 where you would have received cash-back based on this year’s updated data set, Rainfall Threshold and Exit Point. The model works on the basis of the less rainfall, the higher the cash-back. Cash-back begins when rainfall is recorded below the Rainfall Threshold, and continues to a maximum of 30% of committed spend when rainfall recorded is below the Exit Point. The model is linear and paid at a pre-determined dollar value per mm below the Rainfall Threshold.

Due to the smaller gridded data set, the registration form may take up to 1 minute to load. While the form will work on most platforms, it is best used on PC, with Google Chrome or Internet Explorer 11 or above. Â Â

Corporate responsibility is at the heart of everything we do. Our ambition is to bring greater food security to an increasingly populous world in an environmentally sustainable way by creating a worldwide step-change in farm productivity. Through The Good Growth Plan, we have set specific, ambitious and measurable targets, which focus on boosting resource efficiency, rejuvenating ecosystems and strengthening rural communities. We are partnering with growers, researchers and industry stakeholders across Australia to make a meaningful contribution towards our six global commitments. Each year, we recognise innovation, best practice and leadership in Australian and New Zealand agribusiness in support of these goals through our Growth Awards. We are also committed to developing our people, reducing our environmental footprint, enhancing our social engagement, raising supply chain sustainability and doing business responsibility. Our Connections program, run in collaboration with Rimfire Resources, links together students, organisations, institutions and farmers from around the world to increase access to technology for growers and enhance agronomy knowledge for stakeholders. It also provides a platform to develop the next generation of leaders in Australian agriculture. We are a global leader in product stewardship and are committed to supporting growers and applicators to ensure the safe and optimal use, and disposal, of our products. In Australia, we partner with ChemCert and drumMUSTER to ensure key stewardship information is integrated into industry training courses and support the disposal and recycling of cleaned crop protection drums.

Email *

By Shaun Hood - Technical Services Lead Over the coming months growers across Australia will see a range of pests invading cucurbit and fruiting vegetable crops. Silverleaf whitefly, mites, aphids, thrips and lepidoptera species are some of the more damaging pests. Insect species and populations are dynamic. Some thrive in the milder spring or autumn conditions, while others are more active over the hotter summer months. With populations forever shifting, often overlapping, the situation requires constant monitoring and then attention when things become out of the balance. An integrated approach to pest management remains the key to success. Growers should always be on the lookout for new tools and techniques, including new chemistry that broaden their management options. For the control of many important pests in cucurbit and fruiting vegetable crops, there is a new

development on the horizon. Syngenta has a new miticide/insecticide MINECTO® FORTE on the way. The product is currently under evaluation by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) and is anticipated to be available to cucurbit and fruiting vegetable growers in the later part of 2020. A unique combination of Diafenthiuron (Group 12A) and Cyantraniliprole (Group 28), one of the strengths of MINECTO FORTE is this dual mode of action. The Group 12A mode of action component will be new for cucurbit and fruiting vegetable growers. So from an insecticide resistance management perspective, this will be an exciting development. The product label will include control of heliothis, potato moth, cucumber moth, cluster caterpillar, aphids, mites and whitefly as well as the suppression of thrips. It joins the collection of crop protection products with translaminar activity. Translaminar means movement of the active ingredient into the leaf creating a reservoir inside the plant. For any miticide or insecticide, translaminar activity is a big advantage because it means pests that feed on the other side or untreated leaf surface are effectively controlled as well. If we take silverleaf whitefly (SLW) as an example, the tiny crawlers (just 0.3mm long) that hatch from the eggs travel a short distance before finding a protected place to settle. However, it’s the second and third instar nymphs that cause damage to the plant. Sucking sap from the plant, SLW nymphs can remain hidden away until the winged adults emerge. Once they become adults, females can mate in less than a day and go on to lay up to 400 eggs. Under ideal warm conditions, the SLW life cycle can be less than three weeks. That’s why uncontrolled populations can build up so rapidly during spring and summer. The warmer areas of northern Australia can have anywhere between 8 and 12 SLW generations in a year, which puts huge pressure on existing insecticide chemistries. This is one of the main reasons behind resistance concerns with this pest. A product that moves within the plant is ideal to combat and seek out pests like SLW, mites, aphids and thrips. More information on MINECTO FORTE will become available closer to market. It will join an

expanding Syngenta portfolio of cucurbit and fruiting vegetable crop protection products. It will join the ranks of recent developments including: PROCLAIM® OPTI, an upgraded formulation to PROCLAIM®, which has been registered in additional crops including cucurbits, leafy vegetables and strawberries ORONDIS® FLEXI, a fungicide to control a range of important diseases in cucurbits as well as other vegetable crops. Further innovations can be anticipated as Syngenta grows its R&D investment to $2 billion over the next five years. >> LEARN MORE | Speak to your local Syngenta Territory Sales Manager

8. MISCELLANEOUS 8.1 The Agreement between Syngenta and Grower shall commence on the Enrolment Date and shall continue until a Terminating Event occurs. 8.2 This Agreement represents the entire terms and conditions in relation to the subject matter of this document and supersedes any previous document whether written or oral between the parties in relation to that subject matter. The Good Growth Plan We’re facing our toughest challenge. Every day, our planet wakes with 200,000 more mouths to feed, farmland lost to erosion and increased pressure on our natural resources. Many people who produce the world’s food are living in poverty, while biodiversity is disappearing fast. We have only one planet, and we’re using its resources 50 per cent faster than it can take. What we’re asking it to provide is simply not sustainable. Something needs to change.

Here’s what Syngenta is doing about it The Good Growth Plan is Syngenta’s commitment to make a measurable contribution by 2020. We are setting ourselves six specific targets related to improving resource efficiency, rejuvenating ecosystems and revitalising rural communities.

Syngenta Growth WEATHER Awards SERVICE Supporting the goals of the Good Growth Plan. Find out more

By 2020 we will: Make crops more efficient Increase the average productivity of the world’s major crops by 20 per cent without using more land, water or inputs. Rescue more farmland Improve the fertility of 10 million hectares of farmland on the brink of degradation. Help biodiversity flourish Enhance biodiversity on 5 million hectares of farmland.

Growth Awards 2015 Highlights

Today’s growers face a tough challenge: sustainably growing food and fibre for a growing global population. That’s why in 2013, Syngenta launched the Good Growth Plan - to make a lasting positive impact on the farmers and rural communities who provide the world’s food security and long-term sustainability of our planet. Supporting the goals of the Good Growth Plan, Syngenta runs its annual Growth Awards to recognise innovation, best practice and leadership in Australian and New Zealand agribusiness. “The goal of the Growth Awards is to recognise growers and advisers who are making a difference to the industry through leadership, best practice and innovation” - Paul Luxton, Syngenta Territory Head – Australasia. “We’ve been working on our farm’s sustainability model for 20 years, and the Growth Awards provides recognition that our work is making a different to the environment, and the hard work does get noticed by the public”- David Birkett, Grower from Leeston NZ (2015 winner Sustainability Category)

WEATHER SERVICE

The Syngenta Connections program, the first of its kind in Asia-Pacific, is a regional initiative that links together students, organisations, institutions and farmers to increase access to technology for growers and enhance agronomy knowledge for stakeholders. The program was launched in 2010 to provide a platform for agriculture students from Australia to learn different agricultural practices in developing countries and understand the challenges faced by smallholder farmers. The program provided 55 young future leaders in agriculture the opportunity to directly ‘connect’ with the farming communities by working with them in the field and being immersed in the local culture. In 2013, the program was expanded to incorporate an engagement opportunity to improve the public sector’s extension work with smallholder farmers by ‘connecting’ them to extension workers knowledgeable in new farming technologies and processes. This gave life to the Syngenta Connections Study Tour, by taking a group of learners from developing countries to Australia to expose them to modern farming practices. Syngenta runs the Connections program in collaboration with Rimfire Resources.

Nor is any such offer or invitation being made or solicited. Share prices, and income from those shares, may go up or down at any time, and potential investors should be aware that past performance is not necessarily an indication of future performance. Potential investors should seek independent financial advice prior to any investment decision. Forward-looking statements Our Site may contain forward-looking statements - e.g. statements not of historical fact, including statements about our beliefs and expectations. These statements, which can be identified by terms such as, but not limited to, ‘expect’, 'would', 'will', 'potential', 'plans', 'prospects', 'estimated', 'aiming', 'on track' and similar expressions are based on current plans, estimates and projections, with regard to which Syngenta shall in no way be liable and on which you and your company should not place undue reliance. These statements involve inherent risks and uncertainties, many of which are outside of Syngenta's control. Forward looking statements speak only as of the date they are made and Syngenta undertakes no obligation to update any of them in light of new information or future events. Disclaimer of warranties This Site is provided on an "as is," "as available" basis, without representations or warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted under applicable law, the Syngenta entities and their respective service providers and licensors disclaim all warranties, express, implied, statutory or otherwise. Without limiting the foregoing, to the fullest extent permitted by law, the Syngenta entities and their

respective service providers and licensors hereby disclaim (a) all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement with respect to this Site and its content and any products or services described on or made available through this Site; (b) warranties relating to delays, interruptions, errors, or omissions in the operation of this Site or any part of this Site; (c) warranties relating to the transmission or delivery of this Site or its availability at any particular time or location; (d) warranties relating to the security of this Site or that the Content of this Site is free of viruses, worms or other code that may manifest contaminating or destructive properties; (e) warranties relating to the use, validity, accuracy, currency, completeness, suitability, reliability, or the results of the use of this Site, including any Content, including product labels, products or services made available through this Site; and (f) warranties relating to websites to which this Site is linked. Certain jurisdictions do not allow disclaimers of certain warranties or limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so one or all of the foregoing limitations may not apply to you and/or your company. Limitation of liability Your and your company's use of this Site, its Content, including product labels, and any products or services made available through this Site is at your and your company's sole risk. Under no circumstances shall the Syngenta entities or their respective service providers and licensors, including their respective directors, officers, employees, or agents, be liable for any losses or damages arising out of or in connection with your or your company's access of, use of, or inability to use, this Site, its content, including product labels, or any products or services made available through this site or your or your company's reliance on any information provided through this site. Without limiting the foregoing, the Syngenta entities and their respective service providers and licensors shall not be liable in any way for possible errors or omissions in the content; this applies in particular to any information about products and services supplied by the Syngenta entities. This is a comprehensive limitation of liability that applies to all losses and damages of any kind whatsoever, whether direct or indirect, general, special, incidental, consequential, exemplary or otherwise, including without limitation, interruption of business, loss of or damage to data or goodwill, and loss of revenue or profits. This limitation of liability shall apply to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, whether the alleged liability is based on contract, negligence, tort, strict liability or any other basis and even if an authorized representative of any of the Syngenta entities has been advised of or should have known of the possibility of such damages, and without regard to the effectiveness of other remedies. You and your company acknowledge and agree that Syngenta could not make this Site and its Content available to you and your company at no charge if their liability were not limited as set forth above. If any of these limitations of liability is found to be invalid or unenforceable for any reason, then the aggregate liability of the Syngenta entities and their respective service providers and licensors under such circumstances for liabilities that otherwise would have been limited shall not exceed one hundred ($100.00) dollars (or the local currency equivalent). Certain jurisdictions do not allow the limitation of certain damages, so some or all of this limitation of liability may not apply to you and/or

your company and you and/or your company may have additional rights. Governing law and jurisdiction These terms and conditions shall be governed by, are subject to, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Switzerland without regard to conflict of law principles. Waiver Our failure at any time to require performance of any provision of these terms and conditions or to exercise any right provided for herein shall not be deemed a waiver of such provision or such right. All waivers must be in writing and signed by the party to be bound. Unless the written waiver contains an express statement to the contrary, no waiver by Syngenta of any breach of any provision of these terms and conditions of any right provided for herein shall be construed as a waiver of any continuing or succeeding breach of such provision, a waiver of the provision itself, or a waiver of any right under these terms and conditions. Severability If any provision of these terms and conditions is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be contrary to law, such provision shall be changed and interpreted so as to best accomplish the objectives of the original provision to the fullest extent allowed by law and the remaining provisions of these terms and conditions shall remain in full force and effect. Entire agreement These terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and your company and Syngenta with respect to your and your company's access to and/or use of this Site. These terms and conditions shall not be amended except as expressly set forth herein. Revision date These terms and conditions were last modified on January 20, 2016.

Privacy Statement Introduction www.syngenta.com.au is managed by Syngenta Australia Pty. Ltd. - the “data controller”. Your privacy is important to us. Syngenta has therefore developed this privacy statement (this “Statement”) to inform you how Syngenta collects, stores, uses and processes the personal data and information you provide us through this website. Effective date. 18 September 2018 Scope of this Statement This Statement covers the “personal data and information” we collect, use and store, including through this site, in accordance with our obligations set out in the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). “Personal data and information” is data that identifies you personally, either alone or in combination with other information available to us. Examples of personal information include: your name, address, email address, tax identification number and the information you provide when you use our site to process a transaction or create an account or personal profile. Your consent By using this site you are accepting the practices described in this Statement (including the Cookies Policy available on this site). If you do not agree to this Statement or the Cookies Policy, please do not use this site. We reserve the right to make changes to this Statement or the Cookies Policy at any time. Any changes will be posted in this Statement or the Cookies Policy and the current version will always be available on this website. We encourage you to regularly review this Statement and the Cookies Policy to make sure you

are aware of any changes and how your information may be used. What personal data and information do we collect through our site? Personally identifiable information refers to information that lets us know the specifics of who you are. Personal information is collected when you order a service, register for an account and send us feedback. For example, this information might include your name, address (both billing and registered), email address, industry and product details, and credit card or other payment information. The information we collect may be stored by a third party data storage provider, and may be combined with or linked to other information about you. We have processes in place to ensure that our records remain accurate, complete and up to date, including by verifying the information with you each time you use our services or from other sources. If the information is no longer required by us for any purpose for which it was collected and is no longer required by law to be retained by us, we will destroy or de-identify the information. Can I remain anonymous? You can always choose to deal with us anonymously (or by providing a pseudonym). However, if you choose to remain anonymous, this may affect your ability to access or use certain functions of our website or services. If you wish to remain anonymous when dealing with us via a telephone call, you should advise the call operator assisting you. Providing your personal details enables us to provide you with a contact record reference number which allows you, and other authorised persons, to retrieve information about that call at a later date. Personal information may be held on our contacts and administration databases either because of the work we have done with you or are currently engaged in, or because we believe you might be interested in receiving material from us about our business and services. This allows us to manage our relationship with you efficiently, improve our site and the services which we offer to you and to target items of interest we may send to you. Agreements governing your use of special features and password-protected areas This site may include special features and password-protected areas. When you sign up to use a special feature or password-protected area, you may be asked to agree to special terms governing your use of the special feature or password-protected area. In such cases, you will be asked to expressly consent to the special terms, for example, by checking a box or clicking on a button marked "I agree." This type of agreement is known as a "click-through" agreement. If any of the terms of the click-through agreement are different than

the terms of this Statement, the terms of the click-through agreement will supplement or amend this Statement, but only with respect to the matters governed by the "click-through agreement." Cookies and similar technologies We use "cookies" and other web technologies to collect information and support certain features of our sites. (An explanation of cookies can be found at the website of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au). For example, we may use these technologies to collect information about the ways visitors use our sites – which pages they visit, which links they use, and how long they stay on each page; manage and determine the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns; support the features and functionality of our sites – for example, to save you the trouble of re-entering information already in our database or to prompt the settings you established on previous visits to our sites; and personalize your experience when you use our sites. The information we collect using these web technologies does not identify you personally. If, however, you have created a user identity, for example, by signing up to use a password-protected area on one of our sites, we may link the information we collect using web technologies to other information that identifies you personally. If you do not wish to receive cookies, you may set your browser to reject cookies or to alert you when a cookie is placed on your computer. You may also delete our cookies as soon as you leave a site. Although you are not required to accept our cookies when you visit our sites, if you set your browser to reject cookies, you will not be able to use all of the features and functionality of our sites. Please see the Cookies Policy on this site for more details. How does Syngenta use your personal information? to invite you to participate in surveys and provide feedback to us; to better understand your needs and interests; to improve the content, functionality and usability of our site; to improve our products and services; to improve our marketing and promotional efforts; and for any other purpose identified in an applicable privacy notice or other agreement between Syngenta and you. As described in a click-through agreement We reserve the right to disclose your personal information as described in any click-through agreement to which you have agreed. Your choices In general We respect your right to make choices about the ways we collect, use and disclose your personal information. In most cases, we will ask you to indicate your choices at the time we collect your personal information. We will also include an "opt-out" link in newsletter or promotional email we send you so that you can inform us that you do not wish to receive such communications from us in the future. If you have created an account or a personal profile on our site, you may be able to update some or all of your privacy choices by changing the settings on your account settings or profile page. New SALTROÂŽ DUO delivers complete control of major seedling diseases in canola Broadacre 23.12.2019

SALTRO® DUO treated canola seeds left, versus untreated, right, showing the affects of pythium. New seed treatment approved for control of seedling blackleg in canola Early control of seedling blackleg reduces seedling death and late-season stem cankers SALTRO® DUO will enable Australian broadacre farmers to realise the full yield potential of canola crops

The successful registration of Syngenta’s new, unique SDHI fungicide makes SALTRO® DUO the only canola seed treatment combination that controls seedling blackleg, pythium and rhizoctonia. “The added benefit of MAXIM XL creates an increased root mass through protection of lateral roots and fine root hairs from pythium and rhizoctonia damage - enhancing access to soil nutrients and moisture, resulting in healthy, vigorous crops.” SALTRO DUO delivers good seed and crop safety for complete grower peace of mind. TALINOR® has delivered results on hard-to-control weeds like capeweed. The addition of MCPA LVE is recommended on larger weeds.

Wild radish, cape weed and wire weed have been problematic for cereal growers in southern NSW, where they’ve needed a strong solution to their in-crop needs. The answer doesn’t need to be complex according to Landmark Narrandera agronomist Anthony Muhlebach. “Being a farmer myself, I know what they expect, I like to keep it simple and it helps keep the cost down per hectare,” he said. “With TALINOR it gets us away from these complicated brews, because the more you put into the tank the greater the chances we’ll get a call saying ‘I’ve got a mess here’.” TALINOR is a broad spectrum broadleaf herbicide registered for in-crop application on wheat and barley, between growth stages 12 and 32. It offers control of 38 weeds including wild radish, capeweed, wireweed and fumitory, as well as bifora, volunteer pulses and brassica weed –

“I saw it for the first time in 2017, radish was the main issue, but wireweed was also quite thick in places as well as fumitory, it worked really well,” Anthony said. “Being a Group C and H, I don’t have to worry about plant-backs from one season to the next, it’s an easy chemical to use. The compatibility with grass weed chemicals is excellent which makes it a one-pass job.” The efficacy of TALINOR was again demonstrated in 2018 when one of Anthony’s clients experienced a malfunction with the spray rig. “There was a strip where you could really see the difference in the uncontrolled section,” Anthony said.

“The wild radish, capeweed and wireweed really got away from us. But everywhere else, the TALINOR really did the job.”

Dry times have prompted many farmers to implement some kind of risk management strategy, sometimes at the expense of crop health. Other farmers have maintained the confidence to invest in their crop through the Syngenta program, AgriClime™, with the assurance of up to 30 percent cash-back under the new offer if rain doesn’t come their way.

Farmers only need to spend $15,000 on two or moreOK qualifying Syngenta products, and complete the registration online. “AgriClime helps us reduce the risk to our growers by allowing them to purchase products that establish yield potential early in the year,” Mallee based Landmark agronomist Nathan Sydes said.

One of his clients is Derry Monaghan, who farms 7,000 hectares outside of Speed in the Victorian Mallee. “As our farm has got bigger and more like a business, that risk management has become important,” he said. “I’d recommend AgriClime to anyone, we have to buy the products anyway and it doesn’t cost us a cent to register - it’s a good risk management tool.” The Monaghans qualified for AgriClime in 2018 with their upfront investment in VIBRANCE and UNIFORM. “We’ve been using VIBRANCE and UNIFORM for the past two or three years now,” Derry said. “The initial [plant] growth is really good and the root system is a heck of a lot better. It really helped us coming into the dry spring.”

The family managed to harvest some grain, if not the quantity they had hoped for. “After two pretty good seasons, 2018 was a lot leaner, the cash-back was welcome,” Derry said.

AgriClime | At a glance AgriClime™ is a free Syngenta program to help share with Australian broadacre growers the risk of low rainfall during August to October. Growers need to spend a minimum of $15,000 on two or more participating Syngenta products between October 2018 and September 2019 to qualify. Growers can then register their paddock(s) for one of two offer periods. These are either; 1st August - 29th September 2019; or 1st September - 30th October 2019. Registrations for the first offer period close July 1st. The suite of AgriClime qualifying products includes: AFFIRM®, AMISTAR XTRA®, AXIAL®, BOXER GOLD®, CRUISER® 350, DUAL GOLD®, KARATE ZEON®, MIRAVIS™, MODDUS EVO®, SPRAY.SEED®, TALINOR®, UNIFORM®, VIBRANCE® NEW: inclusion of AXIAL XTRA®, CRUISER OPTI® and ELATUS ACE® (pending APVMA registration)

SALTRO® DUO treated canola seeds left, versus untreated, right, showing the affects of pythium.

Seedling blackleg is a devastating canola disease but there’s a new Seedcare fungicide package being readied for market that’s offering growers real hope. Large batches of seed have been treated with SALTRO™ DUO and sown at selected trial sites across the country, in recent weeks, to help demonstrate its performance under commercial conditions. As a recipe SALTRO DUO protects seedlings from pythium, rhizoctonia, and blackleg, which are the key diseases impacting canola establishment. Unchecked, these disease can cause yield losses of 50 percent or more. Through development work Syngenta trials have already demonstrated a 25 percent yield improvement compared to the market-standard, Jockey. “There should be many opportunities to see SALTRO DUO this spring in trials, compared to the current standard seed treatments, at the Syngenta Learning Centres and even in a few farmer

paddocks,” Syngenta Seedcare Product Lead Michael Uttley said.

SALTRO DUO is a global innovation from Syngenta that contains 3 active ingredients for the broad spectrum control of canola seedling diseases especially blackleg. Australia has played an important part in the adaptation of this technology in an easy-to-use formula, through The Seedcare Institute, Wagga Wagga. Syngenta only opened the Wagga Wagga facility in October last year but it has already demonstrated its expertise and value through supporting product launches like SALTRO DUO. “Our state-of-the-art facility at the Charles Sturt University AgriPark was instrumental in the development of SALTRO DUO, how it is applied to the seed, and rolled out to the canola industry,” Michael said.

“The SALTRO DUO recipe has already found its way onto commercial batches of seed, through Nuseed and Advanta, ready for large scale demonstrations.” The Syngenta Seedcare team is hopeful the product will be registered in time for the 2020 canola growing season.

Pacific Seeds, NSW based Sales Manager Richard Madden.

Large scale canola seed treatment trials using SALTRO DUO®, have demonstrated outstanding control of key seedling diseases, resulting in a stronger more vigorous establishment. Pacific Seeds partnered with Syngenta in trials where SALTRO DUO showed excellent activity against blackleg, rhizoctonia and pythium, when compared to the market standard, Jockey Stayer. “SALTRO DUO has certainly impressed in the trails that Pacific Seeds and Syngenta have partnered in delivering. This is an exciting step forward for the canola industry, helping to overcome blackleg resistance,” Pacific Seeds, NSW based Sales Manager Richard Madden said. Growers have previously used MAXIM XL® which has provided excellent control of rhizoctonia and Pythium. By packaging it with the new SDHI chemistry to control blackleg, Syngenta has created SALTRO DUO*. | Frequently Asked Questions: SALTRO DUO

Blackleg is caused by the fungus Leptosphaeria maclans survives on crop residue over summer, releasing spores in humid conditions at planting, which can travel large distances to land on seedlings. While secondary infection can occur through the season it is this early infection that can often lead to stem cankers and yield losses of up to 50 per cent. A best-practice management strategy should include crop rotations, selection of resistant varieties and use of a targeted seed treatment.

“SALTRO DUO is certainly providing an increased level of protection against early blackleg infection. It appears that the increased protection through the SDHI chemistry is allowing the crop to develop at a more rapid rate, growing through that early period where blackleg can cause early leaf necrosis,” Richard said.

The trials have compared SALTRO DUO to existing treatments in the market, as part of a commercially focused cropping program that also included CRUISER® OPTI for pest control.

With SALTRO DUO treated seed Richard said the growth and development of leaf biomass was quite noticeable in the early growth stages - driving canola’s potential to establish higher yields. “During the 2019 season, in field-based trials at Grenfell, Cootamundra and Yerong Creek, it was observed that seed treated with SALTRO DUO, was clearly growing more quickly in the one-tothree leaf stage than the MAXIM XL treatment. There were significantly fewer blackleg leaf lesions recorded across the sites,” Richard said. “Larger, healthier plants develop a bigger root system, and build more biomass, which helps target higher yields. That’s obviously of benefit to growers and increases crop competition (against weeds).” Pacific Seeds and Syngenta have been working closely for over a decade in seed treatment technologies and SALTRO DUO is the next step. “Pacific Seeds has tested SALTRO DUO extensively, for both seed safety in storage, and in fieldbased trials where we’ve seen no impacts on crop safety; growers should have confidence in the product,” Richard said. “We are confident in the science that Syngenta is bringing to the market. Blackleg disease is a significant and ongoing problem for canola growers, and to have a new mode of fungicide technology available for seed treatment gives canola the best start possible.”

Crown rot fight can now begin with VibranceÂŽ Broadacre 13.12.2019

Screenings and downgrading can be a real hassle. Managing crown rot can now begin at planting with VIBRANCE. VIBRANCE® will continue to be the broadest spectrum seed treatment available to Australian cereal growers for controlling damaging seed and soilborne diseases, with the added benefit of managing crown rot. Trials conducted across a number of growing regions in 2018 showed that the use of VIBRANCE delivered a 16% yield improvement versus

untreated crops. VIBRANCE has always helped cereal crops develop stronger root systems and ultimately healthier plants through the control of flag smut (both seed and soil borne), common bunt, loose smut, covered smut, and seed borne net blotch and Pythium , whilst also providing suppression of seed-borne fusarium head blight caused by Fusarium spp. and white grain. “When you add the superior colour, application ease and dust-off qualities of VIBRANCE with the broadest control of cereal diseases available to the market, it really does give growers the strongest start possible for their crop,” Sean said. | Need to know more?
