Space Transformation Almost any room can be used as an Immersive Reality Space. We know that our rooms are lifechanging for students and teachers. Look at this transformation at Bradstow School! From a rundown, cluttered, Victorian classroom to a pristine, engaging 21st century Immersive Reality Space, where users can truly thrive.
Before
During
After
This large, first floor classroom was built during the Victorian era and was an underused, tired-looking space. With 4 large windows, large radiators with old plumbing and an ornate ceiling, it was as far from an Immersive Reality Space as you can get.
The school appointed a local builder to fit a new drop ceiling, stoothing walls, flooring, electrical outlets and run our specialist cables. In fact, they used this very guide
An incredible transformation! Notice how the smooth, flat, unobstructed walls and drop ceiling with strengthened locations has created a life changing, engaging learning environment.

Walls The walls will be the most important part of the room, so need to be finished to a high standard. Please ensure the walls can securely hold our equipment and are free from imperfections, as this will give you fantastic visual results. Walls also need to be clear of any obstructions. For example: no outlets, switches or data points.
Wall Finish
Wall Color
Wall Construction
Walls need to have a smooth plaster finish with no reflections. Please Note: Any slight imperfections will be multiplied when our high-quality projectors shine upon them.
We recommend the use of a matt finish to avoid any light bounce back. The color should be Light Grey - RAL 7035 - Matt. Please ensure the paint is also cleanable.
If your walls are stud walls, then these will need to be strengthened with plywood or have anchor points to ensure our projectors are mounted securely. Please see the enclosed plan for further details.

Ceiling We only use high quality projectors, which need to be fitted in specific locations due to their precision specifications and ratios. The location of the projectors will take priority, so any ducting, cables or piping, must be fitted to work around the projector location.
Ceiling Construction
Ceiling Color
Ceiling Strengthening
If possible, we recommend the use of a drop ceiling with black wipeable tiles, 2ft x 2ft. If not, then cables will need to be hidden within the ceiling void.
If using a drop ceiling, please ensure rails and tiles are matt black. Otherwise, please ensure the ceiling is painted matt black. This reduces the light bounce back.
Your ceiling may need to be strengthened or have anchor points to ensure our projectors are mounted securely. Please see our enclosed plan for details and refer to local building codes.

Ideally over 10ft if floor projection is
For rooms where the ceiling height is under 10ft, and floor projection is required, we will also need two recesses. Please see our plan for recess locations and dimensions.
You must allow a minimum drop of 14 inches from the ceiling to the uppermost part of the hoist for our equipment. If your space has or will have a hoist, please request a hoist plan and we can advise you further.
required. The height of the ceiling is important due to the 16:9 projector ratio needed.

Electrical The electrical supply and installation are integral to the infrastructure of your space. It is important to get power into the correct places, while also being hidden from view, keeping the area neat and safe. The correct positioning of electrical equipment ensures that it is easier for staff to use. For example, having just one switch to operate the system.
Power Outlets
Lighting
Switching
Several power outlets are required for our products. Please see enclosed plan for details.
We recommend the use of dimmable lighting to set an ambient light level when entering and leaving the space.
The power outlets may be controlled via a grid switch. Please see enclosed plan for details.

Fire Detection
1 single outlet within 20 inches of the entrance door and near to other electrical points. This can be used for cleaning purposes.
Should your room include an infrared detector for the alarm system, this must be facing away from our projection walls. On occasion this can interfere with our wall detection systems, so it is necessary to position this correctly.
The roanchor om may feature a fog machine now or in the future. It is important for an appropriate fire detector to be fitted. A heat detector may be the best choice.
