The planning concept of the building is focused on the three wings which comprises of various functions and are connected to each other by the circulation core at the center of the complex. The individual floors are arranged is a manner that the balconies of every room are staggered. This poses a rugged rhythmic pattern on the outer portion. This articulated surface will further appear in most dramatic ways when they cast their shadows at various sun positions.

Primary notion is to represent cultural significant elements in modern buildings. This was achieved by using forms that relate to the people culturally. This will help to create a identity and character to the place where the building is located. The form of the building for this bank head quarters is inspired by a particular form of “Vesak Koodu (Lantern).

The building is basically divided into zones vertically as public and banking section, bank operations, support departments, executive core and recreational spaces.

Various technologies incorporated efficiency sustainability structure.

Double storey high floors are located at certain intervals of the building on which the suspension trusses will be placed which holds the floors below it using suspension cables and transfer the load to the ground through the primary and the secondary columns

Residential Projects

At Nawala, Colombo, Sri Lanka A 8000 sq.ft residence situated at Nawala, Colombo, a highly residential area. The main requirements were to build a house which is fused with modern and vernacular style, luxury spaces with smart materials, and a large garden space. The design for this house has satisfied both the requirements of luxury spaces and the large garden by the way it is positioned at site. Also such that the private spaces within the house had a view looking into the large garden space.

The materials used were mainly solid timber, glass and steel. Water bodies, sculptures, wall hangers, antique columns and furniture's were used to bring in character to the spaces. Fin walls and feature walls were treated in a way that they accentuate the corridors and pathways. This house overall was well proportioned, analyzed and detailed such that the overall product becomes a quality output and satisfies the clients budget.

This is a six storey office complex of approximately 3000sq.ft of usable office space available at every floor. At the fifth and the sixth floor is a long strip of sliding and fixed glass panels which over looks into the sky garden court. These two floors are occupied by the clients and the rest of the floors will be rented out. As the service core towers up along with the office spaces a certain segregation is created between the two main functions. A triple height lobby space with a feature wall with water flowing on it, granite clad walls at the lift lobby, and a reception area are at the lobby. The lobby then leads into the upper ground floor parking level. There are two basement floors. And a entertainment pavilion at the roof terrace.

Holdings (PVT) Ltd. Colombo, Sri Lanka

3000sq.ft Office interior for a stock brokers company. The time and budget were restricted, hence had to use the local materials and technologies in this project. The sense of flow and direction was created by using straight lines matching with each other in some way and harmonizing with the entire floor. The golden proportioning system was used to space out and design the cubicles and other rooms. The reception and the customer area were given more attention due to more public flow in them. Aluminum, glass, stainless steel and timber are the materials used. Retaining as much as the existing furniture's and the ceiling were important. Project was completed in June 2010, over a duration of 5 months.
