Be Ready: Center yourself, clear your mind of your personal issues refocus your thoughts on the person and the work that is to be done. Be Present: This Person is most important person in the world when they are engaged with you. Give them your attention and if your attention strays, be aware and refocus your attention. Be Open: Listen to whatever they bring to the conversation without judgment-let them be who they are, have the thoughts they have and feel what they feel. Begin your listening from within their world. Be Respectful: Honor the their point of view as valid for them Be Aware: Acknowledge your biases and quiet them in favor of their biases. Begin your communication within their thinking frame work and help them expand that framework as they are ready and willing. Be Consistent: In your communication, that allows the people to dream brainstorm, test ideas, plan, strategize, commit, receive encouragement and accountability. Bring that consistency to every conversation and those around you will expect it and feel honored and heard by you.
