17 April - 10 May 2015 To mark the launch of Impact Hub Birmingham, Demo.B is an open, co-curated festival where we can explore, celebrate and demonstrate how to build a better Birmingham together.
@ImpactHubBrum http://bit.ly/demo-b
We can go on about tomorrow, about the better world we dream of, about how things could be different, until we’re blue in the face. We might not even believe it. By creating a lived experience of the change we seek, whether it’s a prophetic headline that for fifteen seconds we believe to be true or an unlocked white bicycle leaning against a building that is free for anyone to use — is the best way to break through cynicism, stimulate our imaginations and affirm that, “Yes, another world is possible.” - Beautiful Trouble, Andrew Boyd
“After all, we can’t create a world we haven’t yet imagined. Better if we’ve already tasted it.” - Beautiful Trouble, Andrew Boyd
Lets come together to demonstrate the tomorrow we’re working for; show how the world could be; make such a world feel not just possible, but fundamentally irresistible. Let us create a place where beliefs are made and unmade, and the limits of tomorrow can be stretched together.
The incredible outpouring of support from the crowd for the #EpicBrum campaign showcased the power of citizens. It also raised questions about what would make a truly epic Birmingham: • What does it mean to be part of a fair, equal, democratic Birmingham for the many? • How do we reimagine and build this together? • How can we create open platforms for people, ideas, projects, ventures and institutions carving out a fairer, equal and more prosperous city? • Who are some of the trailblazers leading the way?
To mark the launch of Impact Hub Birmingham, we invite you to join us at , an open and co-curated festival where we’ll question, celebrate and actively demonstrate how we can build a better Birmingham together. will be a space to explore the nuances of a democratic city and the ways in which we can accelerate collective action.
OPENING FESTIVAL 17th April - 10th May 2015 Join the final stages of the Impact Hub Birmingham build with Architechture 00, Open Desk, local makers and the Hub community at large. Whether you’re building open source furniture, hand crafting soft furnishing or feel most cosy in the cafe, bring your personality and your creative touch to the space. Demo.B is our time to question, to explore and to demonstrate how collectively, we can all build a better Birmingham. Let’s come together and create a vision of the future we want to build. Bringing the Hub to life has been a mammoth collective effort, with so many valued people giving their all to make the space a reality. Whilst we’ll never be able to say enough thank you’s, it’s high time we celebrate together and look forward to the many possibilities that lie ahead.
