Solar for Schools
Solar panels offer numerous benefits for educational institutions, from cost savings to educational opportunities. In this article, we’ll explore the advantages of using solar panels in education.
As schools around the world look for ways to become more sustainable and environmentally conscious, many are turning to solar energy as a solution.
Benefits for Schools
Why Your School Should Invest in Solar Panels
Cost Savings
By installing solar panels, schools can reduce their reliance on traditional energy sources, which can be expensive and often come with hidden fees and charges.
Environmental Benefits
Solar energy is a clean, renewable energy source that does not produce harmful emissions or contribute to climate change.
Educational Benefits
By installing a solar panel system, schools can create hands-on learning opportunities for students to learn about renewable energy and how it works.
Inspiring the next Generation
By installing solar panels, schools can send a powerful message to students and the community that they are committed to creating a better, more sustainable future.
Funding for Schools
There are several options for funding a solar energy project for your school. Here are some of the most common:
Our funding guide is on our website tinyurl.com/ms8ztrft
Government Funding
We are sure you are aware that all Schools and Colleges will very soon get a share of £500 million Funding to “futureproof” their buildings by making them more energy efficient.
The Department for Education funding would be paid to Schools in January and Colleges in February.

MSAG
£2 Billion - Mainstream Schools Additional Grant (MSAG)
From April 2023, mainstream schools will be allocated additional funding through the mainstream schools additional grant (MSAG).
The DfE helpfully provided a methodology to help local authorities understand their share of the £2 billion, but they will be publishing indications of school-level allocations in the spring.

Environmental Social Governance
Environmental Social Governance (ESG) refers to the three central factors that are used to measure the sustainability and ethical impact of an investment in a company.
ESG is becoming an increasingly important consideration for investors who are looking to invest their money in companies that are sustainable and socially responsible.
Why is ESG important?
First, it allows companies to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. This can help to attract socially conscious investors who are looking to support companies that align with their values.
Second, ESG can help to reduce risk. Companies that take steps to reduce their environmental impact, for example, are less likely to face regulatory penalties or reputational damage.
Finally, ESG can help to improve long-term financial performance. Studies have shown that companies that prioritize ESG tend to perform better over the long term than those that do not.
Environmental Social Governance
Environmental
The “E” in ESG refers to environmental factors. These factors include a company’s impact on the environment, including its carbon footprint, water usage, waste management, and pollution.
Social
The “S” in ESG refers to social factors. These factors include a company’s impact on society, including its treatment of employees, customers, suppliers, and the wider community.
Governance
The “G” in ESG refers to governance factors. These factors include a company’s leadership, structure, and internal controls.
Net Carbon Zero
What is Net Carbon Zero?
Net carbon zero refers to achieving a balance between the amount of carbon emissions produced and the amount of carbon removed from the atmosphere. This can be achieved by reducing our carbon emissions and offsetting the remaining emissions through carbon removal or offsetting projects.
