Ava and the alien Lee-Ann Stapelberg

Ava lives in a big house with a beautiful garden on Judd Street. She is an only child, but has many friends at school. On weekends Ava has sleepovers and they have a lot of fun. Everyone brings a small tent and they pitch them in the back garden. Ava and her friends like to pretend they are camping in the woods. One weekend, Ava and her friends are ‘camping’ when John says, “Why don’t we pretend that we are visiting a galaxy far away?” They all love the idea and join in the game. Ava’s mom watches them and smiles when she realises where they are pretending to be. She has a plan. She dresses up in green pants and a finds a green top. She pulls the green shower cap over her face and now Mom looks like an alien! She takes the tray of hot dogs and goes out the backdoor. When the children notice her they all stop for a moment ... then they start giggling. “Thank you, Mrs Alien,” says Ava, “any alien who is kind enough to bring hot dogs may play with us.”
