Manny Mouse colours Mareli Steyn
Manny mouse loves colouring. At his preschool he has many friends and they do different things every day. But colouring is Manny’s favourite. He likes colouring so much that he stays inside when his friends go out to play. There is, however, one thing that bothers Manny. His friends tease him when he colours. “Why do you look so sad?” asks Manny’s mom one afternoon after school. “My friends tease me when I colour,” says Manny and wipes away a tear. “Why on earth would they do that?” asks Mommy surprised. She hugs Manny close. “Because my tongue slips out of my mouth when I colour,” he sobs. “I can’t help it, it just happens,” he explains. “That’s quite all right, my dear, it’s only because you are concentrating!” says Daddy as he walks in. Manny looks at his dad with tears still brimming in his eyes. Daddy sits down at the kitchen table and Manny goes to sit on his lap. “I used to do it too when I was little,” says Dad. Manny can’t believe his ears. “Really, Dad?” he asks, wiping away the last tears. “Yes, and it’s nothing to be embarrassed about,” says Dad and hugs Manny. © Impaq
