Activity 46: Write a book review Read this example of a book review. Then write your own book review about the story: ‘The bee’s knees’. What do you write in a book review? Before you write your review, read the questions below. Use them to write a good book review. 1. The title of the book. You may mention that you like the title of the book (or not). Did the title grab your attention? Do you think the author could have created a better title? 2. The name of the author. You may mention that it is the first time you read one of the author’s books. Or you may mention that you chose the book because you like the author’s other books. 3. What is the book about? What happens in the story? Do not reveal the whole plot. Only give a short summary to explain what the story is about. Do not give the end away! 4. Who are the main characters? Who is the main character? What are they like? Which other characters also play an important role in the story? Did you like some of the characters, and why? Were there characters who you disliked, and why? 5. What is the setting of the story? Where does most of the story take place (for example, on a farm or at school)? Does it take place in the present (now), in the past or even in the future? Is this information important for the story? If it is, you must mention it in your review. 6. What did you enjoy about the book? Explain why you liked the book. 7. Would you recommend this book? Do you think your friends would like to read the book? Provide reasons why you think they would.
