TERM 1 TOPIC: ABOUT ME
Activity 1: You are now going to make different movements, which include contrast, speed, direction and position. You will get the opportunity to practise and then present your movements to your facilitator.
1
Date: Activity 2: You are going to sing along with your facilitator. The following song has two parts that ¶ow together. Learning a song: I hear thunder (x2) Hark, don’t you? (x2) Pitter patter raindrops (x2) I’m wet through (x1) So are you (x1)
You have to sing the song at di³erent stages, e.g. you sing the ±rst line and when you start with the second line, your facilitator starts with the ±rst line, etc. Use percussion instruments to make it more interesting. Think of other songs that you can sing like this, such as “Three blind mice”.
2
Date: Activity 3: Create a timeline about yourself: date of birth, when you went to school, and any other interesting facts. Use the following blank pages to paste pictures and photos (in sequence).
3
Date: Activity 4: Decorate paper Use coloured water to make lovely patterns on paper. Do it like this:
1. Dip a straw in coloured water.
2. Put a drop of coloured water onto the paper.
3. Blow the coloured water through the straw over the paper.
4. Stop when there are enough colours on the paper. 6
Date: Activity 5: Paint with porridge Your facilitator will show you how to make a lovely work of art on ordinary cloth.
What to do: - Put a piece of white cotton on the Âśoor. - Draw a picture or diÂłerent patterns on it with a pencil. - Dip a paintbrush in cooked maize meal and paint over the pencil lines. - Let it dry. - Use a thicker paintbrush to paint with colour between the maize meal lines. - Let it dry. - Ask your facilitator to iron the cotton for 10 minutes on each side. (It prevents the colour from being washed out.) - Wash the cotton thoroughly. - The maize meal will wash out and leave white markings where it was painted on the cotton. 7
