ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

Each unit contains activities that form part of the formal assessment� Refer to the portfolio book for these activities� The rubrics needed for these assessments are in the addendum at the back of the book�

There are ten formal assessment tasks which are School-Based Assessments (SBA)� These take place during the year� They include: • 4 oral assessments • 2 writing tasks • 3 tests • 1 examination (June)

These SBA form 40% of the total mark for the year� The November examination forms the other 60% of the year mark�

The marks of the oral paper (Paper 1) comes from oral activities done during the year�

Each examination consists of three papers: • Paper 1 is an oral examination� This includes reading; and listening and speaking� (Activities done during the year which will be stipulated in the paper�) • Paper 2 is a written examination� This includes reading comprehension, language in context and response to literature� • Paper 3 is a written examination� This includes writing an essay and a transactional text�
