Cyprus Film Days 17 th International Film Festival Rialto Theatre Limassol (19-28/04/2019)

Perhaps the largest international film event in Cyprus, exclusively to contemporary world cinema and fiction features length films. A drama written by Academy Award nominated writer David Hare, who explores personal choices and their public consequences. Pauline Gibson stars in ‘I’m Not Running’ as a junior doctor, who wants to save her local hospital by becoming the face of a campaign. Greek Orthodox Easter (28/04/2019)

Limassol enters the Easter’s mood by dressing the whole town with eggs, bunnies, and much more Easter decoration. Orthodox Easter, also called Pascha, is the oldest and most important festival in the Eastern Christian tradition. The period will start from 22 nd to 30 th of April, when you will be able to see all the preparations and customs, including traditional foods and large feasts. The most important days during this period are: Holy Thursday, Holy Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday.

Flower Festival (Anthestiria) (1 st and 2 nd week of May 2019)

Cypriots celebrate the spring return and the beauty of nature with Anthestiria, a festival inspired by the ancient celebration that was held in Athens in honour of Dionysus, the god of wine and fertility. The event features exhibitions, flower markets and shows. The main focus of Anthestiria is the flower parade with beautifully decorated floats and pedestrians carrying flowers.

BORIS GREBENSHCHIKOV & THE AQUARIUM LIVE Colosseo Limassol (03/05/2019)

Dorians Challenge Molos Seafront (04/05/2019)

Dorians Coastal Challenge presented by Eurolife is a non-competitive 5km run with more than 20 obstacles along the beach and in the shallow and safe seawaters. Some of the drags are overcoming walls, sail wooden rafts, the height of ‘Taegetus’, and even more of these before crossing the finish line. Sweet Festival (Feast of Glytzistou) Koilani (06/2019)

The Feast of the Shepherd Pachna (07/2019)

In Pachna you will enjoy dairy products, get to know traditional shepherds, see goats and sheep being milked and sheared, while there will be an exhibition of traditional breeds of animals bred in the village. There will be a demonstration of traditional professions and there will be also an exhibition of objects and tools related to livestock farming, for visitors. Wine Festival Limassol Municipal Gardens (29/08-08/09/2019)

Orange Festival in Miliou Village

The Orange Festival will take place at the Miliou village community square (next to the old school). Different kinds of local products made out of orange, such as liqueur, beer, and marmalade, will be presented and visitors will have the opportunity to taste and buy. In the area of the festival there will be stalls with food, drinks and fresh orange products as well as traditional music and dances. Free Entrance. Miliou village is located 26 kilometres north of Pafos, just off the Pafos to Polis road between Stroumpi and Goudi, North- East of Kathikas village.

AFAMIA 2019 – Grape Festival Koilani village: Community square.

A real treat for all visitors! The community of the beautifully preserved wine village of Koilani invites all to celebrate the wine producing heritage of the village and the end of harvest. Wine tasting par excellence, traditional deserts made from grapes, folk dancing and other cultural performances are in offer during the Afamia festival.

Apple Festival

The two-day festival takes place in Kyperounta and includes an open air market with fresh seasonal apples, traditional products, fresh apple juice, apple pies, apple vinegar etc., an apple exhibition featuring all the types of apples that grow in Cyprus, competitions for the best apple pie, and many more.

There are also seminars about the beneficial properties of apples, as well as a full traditional entertainment show. Visitors are encouraged to take a walk around the village and see the local museums and exceptional churches.

Pancyprian Festival of Athienou products

Zivania Festival

Zivania is a traditional alcoholic beverage made in Cyprus, which has been produced here for centuries by distillation from pomace, the residue of grapes that were pressed during the winemaking process mixed with high-quality dry wines, all harvested from the local grape varieties of Cyprus. The festival takes place in Alona and Pelendri villages in two consecutive weekends. It includes distillation of zivania at the venues, promotional kiosks with traditional products, as well as music and dance programmes. The local sights are open for visitors during the festival.

Christmas

Limassol enters the festive mood of Christmas and New Year in December with the illumination of the large Christmas tree in the square of Grigori Afxentiou outside the District Administration building. Events take place in many parts of the city, including Santa Claus handing out gifts to children and the Christmas train of Limassol Municipality travelling on various routes.

Limassol Carnival (20/2/2020 – 1/3/2020)

The Carnival is a great popular festival which has been celebrated in Limassol and all over Cyprus for more than a hundred years.

The most exciting period of the year comprises of several Carnival celebrations that last for 10 days.

OPAP Limassol Marathon 2020 (14/03-15/03/2020)

OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO is the official Cyprus Marathon. The largest running event in Cyprus offering marathon, half marathon,10K and 5K races.
