Many hobbies have clubs where fellow hobbyists can get together - us humans like to share knowledge and get further insight into things we enjoy. Pooling our knowledge and skills in a club helps everyone involved. No more reinventing the wheel for every single model railroader! There are thousands of model railway clubs spread all around the world. We're hardly part of some obscure fringe group of people here. For instance, clubs such as the LCCA (the Lionel international club) - formed in 1970 - provide their members with resources and forums to discuss and share their love of this wonderful hobby that might otherwise be difficult to achieve. There are many different club types out there too: almost more then there are scales! They all have something in common, however - a love of model railroading and the desire to improve the overall state of the hobby by sharing their knowledge and skills with one another. If you're interested in model railroading, you'll see lots of benefits from joining a club. Rome after all was not built in a day, nor by one engineer! Whether your interest revolves around prototyping real-world scenes, collecting hard to come by equipment from yesterday or just reflect a fascination with trains in general a club that has a focus you can enjoy is out there. Taking the time to join a club and connect with other members is well worth the effort. There's nothing wrong with working by yourself, by you'll get a lot more satisfaction by working with others who you can share your skills and knowledge with - while benefiting from theirs at the same time.
