oday, as we are faced with the stress of violence, news of the war, school bullying, and terrorism. Building the next generation as a generation of PEACE is essential for our children’s future. To help end the cycle of violence in our world we must as adults, parents, and teachers learn to become peaceful and non-violent ourselves. It is until we have this wisdom of peace within, that we can pass it to our children and them unto theirs.

as parents who want to raise

peaceful children we must ask ourselves:

1. What do I want to create in my children? 2. Do I promote peaceful behavior and inner peace with my children in every interaction I have with them? 3. Do I show my children that I value peace over conflict? 4. Do I have the desire to nurture my children or to not be inconvenienced? 5. Do I provide games, toys, and entertainment that lead to violent behavior?

we can create a peaceful generation

BY PROVIDING PEACEFUL DAY-TO-DAY RELATIONSHIPS AND PRACTICING OPEN COMMUNICATION. • • • • • •

Provide touch and closeness. Talk , dance, sing, laugh, and play with your children. Help and allow children to express their feelings. Provide games and activities that teach peace and character education (i.e. stories, yoga, meditation, affirmations) Build and maintain empathy in children by respecting their individuality offering compassion. With empathy, children increase their ability to become loving, caring adults who raise their children with respect and compassion.

f you love shopping, but hate chaos and the outrageous prices that are often associated with retail stores, consider resale shopping as an alternative. When people think resale, they typically imagine finding low-end, tattered items which are over-worn and, well… cheap. But this is certainly not the case, especially when you discover the right kind of resale shop, such as Bows & Britches in Mission. This children’s resale boutique is immaculate, highly-organized, and even kid-friendly as it offers a safe play area for your little ones. Owner, Michelle Striowski, and her professional staff have one ultimate goal in mind: providing quality, name brand clothing at affordable prices. “Anything that has to do with kids can be found here”, says Michelle. “From kids clothing and maternity wear, to toys, accessories, furniture, bedding, shoes and books…it’s all here.” Shopping at Bows & Britches allows you the luxury of finding high-end name brand items like Gymboree, Carter’s, Baby Guess, and GAP, while saving up to 75% on this gently used and sometimes new clothing. With the economy in its current state, why buy one item at full price in a typical retail store, when you can find several items here at the same price? Children out-grow their clothing so quickly, which is why it is often pointless to pay for pricey items. There’s no need to worry about the quality of the items you’ll find here. The staff at Bows & Britches go over every piece with a discerning eye, only accepting new, like-new, or gently used items, and never selling anything below those standards. If that wasn’t enough to assure you that you’re getting the best possible deal, they also wash, iron, press, and even dry clean their items before they hit the racks! The holidays are coming, so what are you waiting for? Go visit Bows & Britches!
