n the morning of 14th December, 2013, SIMSR was

gratified to give to its students a session of ‘experience based learning’ as a part of the Alumni Committee’s initiative, Alumniscence - Guest Lecture Series. The lecture was

delivered by our esteemed alumnus, Mr Nirav Bhatt.

Mr. Nirav Bhatt is presently working in IDFC Securities Ltd. In the past he has worked as the Senior Sales Associate at Anand Rathi Securities. He passed out from SIMSR in 2007 and has also worked with other well known organizations such as J P Morgan, prior to this. His skills and expertise lie in the areas of Equity Research, Investments, Financial Modelling, Equity Validation, Credit Analysis and Strategy. The session started with Mr Nirav Bhatt asking the students questions so as to understand their background and their curiosity as far as a career in Finance is concerned. He carried out an interesting activity to introduce the topic of discussion, consumer insight, engaging two volunteers to share their experiences where they had to convince someone in favor of their needs. Post this activity he continued going deeper in the subject and explained the difference between different types of insights and the ways to acquire them. In the process he discussed many case studies to explain the subject
