SIMSR Alumni Newsletter VAKTAVYA Vaktavya, an annual inter-college extempore competition by CII YI at SIMSR, was held on 5th March based on the theme "Intolerant India". There were registrations from renowned B-schools like JBIMS, NITIE, SJMSOM and many more. Topics for the extempore revolved around recent intolerable issues like reservations, BJP Criticism and Women’s Safety. Mr. Ankit Singh, (a SIMSR Alum and a consultant in Capgemini) and Mrs. Kannagi Mishra (President of TCS Maitree TM club) were the panelists for the event. They are a part of Toastmasters International, a non-profit educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S WEEK International Women’s Day, celebrated on 8th March every year is a time to reflect on the progress made in building women’s rights and equality. The Women’s Development Cell at SIMSR hosted a successful week-long programme of activities to mark this special event called MANASVANI.
It was held from Monday, 6th March to
Friday, 11th March 2016. With this event WDC, SIMSR joined millions of others throughout the world to inspire, encourage and celebrate women and their achievements. WDC conducted a visit to an old age home, an online quiz, a rangoli competition, a streetplay and screened the movie ‘Queen’.
TOASTMASTERS INTERNATIONAL CLUB SIMSR organized its first ever Toastmaster (TM) International session on 10th March 2016. The demo meeting was conducted by members from other Toastmasters International Clubs established in Mumbai such as Agnel TM Club, NMIMS TM Club, Vile Parle and Dadar TM Club to name a few. KJ SIMSR is currently working towards establishing its own TM Club for the benefit of its management students. Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that fosters public speaking and leadership skills. It has a worldwide presence with more than 332,000 members in 15400 clubs spanned across 135 countries. The club sessions consist of activities like extempores, prepared speeches and table topics.
April 2016 Edition SIMSR PREMIER LEAGUE This year students actively participated in the much awaited second edition of SIMSR Premier League. The Sports Committee organized the league on a bigger scale with all the matches on the main football ground. Students signed up in huge numbers to register as players and as owners. Finally six teams played the league and SIMSR Madrid emerged as the champions. The audience gave a huge boost to the morale of the players by turning up in huge numbers.
FAREWELL SENIOR ALCOMers With the end of the academic year, the time has come for us to bid adieu to Team AlCom 2014-16. Thank you for dedicatedly working towards building SIMSR Alumni Relations.
