SIMSR GLOBAL MARKETING CONFERENCE SIMSR hosted the 11th SIMSR Global Marketing Conference from 13th to 15th January under the guidance of Convenor Dr. Vandana Khanna. The round table conference was moderated by Prof. Isaac Jacob. The topic was “Experiential Marketing” and the eminent speakers were – Dr. S.M. Dhume (Associate Professor, NITIE) Dr. M. K Jain (Professor, School of Business, Kenyatta University) Ms. Chumki Neyogi (Sr. VP, Operations, Andromeda BPO) Mr. Satish Rajamani (Lead Digital Strategist, FCB Ulka) Mr. R. Ravishankar (CEO, P.S. LIVE)

Key note address was given by Mr. Vidyadhar Wabgaonkar, Sr. VP, Strategic Planning, Interface Communications.

SAMAVESH 2016 On 16th January, SIMSR’s annual event of panel discussions – “Samavesh” was organised. Samavesh was initiated at SIMSR through the efforts of Prof. C P Joshi. International Business Society at SIMSR organized a session on strategies implemented by MNEs.

ENACTUS Social Cell organised a panel discussion on “Ethical Leadership”. Humanist – the HR Club of SIMSR, organized a panel discussion on “Leadership and Succession Planning”. One of the panelists was Niketa Thakar, SIMSR alum of batch 2007 and VP of Performance and Business Management, Corporate Services at The Royal Bank of Scotland. Pathfinder Innovation and Entrepreneur Cell conducted a session on “Changing dynamics in Education Sector”.

MCA INDUSTRIAL VISIT The students of the MCA program at SIMSR were taken on industrial visits to Indivar Software Solutions and A2IT in Punjab by faculty Dr. Bharti Veerendra and Dr. Sujata Rao on 26th January. Both the sessions were very helpful in introducing the students to workplace environment in the field of software and web applications. Students used this opportunity to ask career centric questions to the employees and experts in the industry. The industrial visit also covered Manali and lasted for 8 days.


NAVIKARAN Navikaran, the annual marketing fest of SIMSR was held from

21st to 23rd January. It was conducted by Interface. The panel discussion on Hybrid Consumer Engagement included prominent names like – Ms. Chavi Jafa (Senior Director, Head of Payments, IDFC Bank) Mr. Anirudha Rohit Patel (AVP, The Economist) Mr. Harikrishnan Pillai (Reliance Broadcast) Prof Hardeep Singh (faculty of Marketing, SIMSR) Ranniti, the B-plan competition, was conducted on 23rd January. The winner team was from MICA.

FINSTREET FIESTA Finstreet celebrated “Finstreet Fiesta” from 4th to 9th January where an entire week was dedicated to the world of Finance and Economics. The first event was All-India Undergraduate Finance Quiz. Next was Investrix - a corporate panel discussion on "Prospects and Challenges for Investment in Capital

Markets". Third day featured Lock Stock and Trade which provided a stimulated stock trading platform for open outcry. On the last two days, SIFICO - SIMSR International Finance Conference was declared open with the release of the IOSR Journal of Economics and Finance. Mr. Rambhushan Kanumuri, SIMSR alum of batch 1995 and Head of Corporate Finance & ECM at Investec India participated in the event.

EXPERENTIAL LEARNING INITIATIVE ELI (Experiential Learning Initiative) is a voluntary mentoring program taken up by the students of KJ SIMSR. The post graduate students mentor school children of S K Somaiya Vinaymandir School and assist them in the development of soft skills and communication in English. The current ELI team comprises of 5 teachers and 40 mentors (5 from second year PGDM batch and 35 from first year PGDM batch) who take out time dedicatedly and assist the students of 7th and 8th grade in getting ready for the competitive world ahead.


YUDH 2016 YUDH 2016, a three-day annual sporting fest of SIMSR was held

from 22nd to 24th January in the campus. Cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, throw ball, athletics, badminton, squash and LAN games were featured in the competition. Players from various colleges in Mumbai such as JBIMS, SIMSREE, Devi Durga, Welingkar competed with one another with great fervour and enthusiasm. After three days of exhilarating action and stellar performances on the field, final results were declared where SIMSR finished first and claimed the prestigious Yudh trophy. The second place was bagged by NMIMS. And the third place was awarded to TISS.
