ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT SIMSR alumnus, Ms. Avipsha Banerjee Thakur (Gold Medallist of the PGDM Batch 2007-09) is the Executive Director, Roshni, a Delhi based NGO for women. She has led the organization to triple its reach and empower over 24,000 girls from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Ms. Thakur has made SIMSR proud for the noble work that she is doing for the society. Recently she gave an excellent TEDx talk on Empowering Women, Escalating Economies, Enriching the World. SIMSR BIGWIGS Mr. Sanjay Shah is currently the Managing Director of Morgan Stanley. Mr. Shah has worked as the Executive Director, JM Morgan Securities Pvt ltd. Mr. Shah has played a key role in marketing and distribution of local and international issuances like Wipro, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank. He has also been voted as the Best Mr. Sanjay Shah, Indian Salesperson for two years by Asiamoney. In her career of almost three decades, she has had a diverse experience including market analysis, stressed assets, capital markets and structured finance. MILAAP 2016 The Alumni committee felicitated SIMSR batches of 1983-85, 1985-87, 1986-88, 1987-89, 1988-90 and 1994-96 at Milaap the official batch-wise reunion of Alumni belonging to various courses at SIMSR. Milaap 2016 was a great success. The alumni went back with happy memories and a further strengthened bond amongst themselves as well as with their Alma Mater.

The event started with Dr. Rajan Welukar, Provost — Somaiya Vidyavihar, Ms. Monica Khanna, Acting Director — SIMSR and other faculty members welcoming the alumni. Batch specific videos were played from the times they were in college. A presentation on how SIMSR has evolved over the years was also screened. The alumni reminisced their days at SIMSR, met their friends with whom they had lost contact, and relived life at SIMSR by taking a campus tour with the same energy and enthusiasm that they shared as students of SIMSR. The alumni who couldn’t make it to Milaap sent video clips for their friends attending the event. This year we organised Milaap for 6 batches as a part of regularising the batch reunions. The 30th year reunion of the 1986 batch will take place on 21st January, 2017. Next year, batches of 1992 and 1997 will be invited for Milaap. View more photos

LECTURE BY PROF. VINEET SWAROOP Prof. Vineet Swaroop, a visiting faculty at SIMSR, expressed his thoughts on D e m o n et i z at i on and its impact on the Indian economy on 2nd December, 2016.
