N EWSL ET TER IMZ MEMBER NEWS 47TH ITF GOLDEN PRAGUE: 16 – 20 OCTOBER 2010, ZOFIN PALACE, Don‘t miss out on one of the industry’s most prestigious festivals and explore the new Golden Prague in October! For its 47th edition, the ITF Golden Prague has introduced numerous reforms, a key one being the change of date to 16 – 20 October 2010 due to the new plans of a closer cooperation of the festival with EBU (European Broadcasting Union) and IMZ (International Music and Media Centre), who this year will be engaged in an unusual number of events to be held in spring, for example the EBU Summit and the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition. Those are the coordinates, but also regarding the media the festival‘s world has changed! Strengthening their support for the ITF Golden Prague, both EBU and IMZ will be involved in the whole festival programme and its accompanying events… For instance, the prestigious Gala premieres have been shifted from the showcase at MIDEM in
Cannes to the festival in Prague. Thus, three extraordinary Gala evenings entitled Golden Prague Premieres will be held in the framework of the 47th ITF Golden Prague: a screening of remarkable premieres that have recently been finished and are to be presented by the creators personally. Find further information as well as entry forms to the Golden Prague Premieres at the IMZ website www.imz.at. Furthermore, the IMZ and EBU are preparing a series of worskhops, discussions and meetings to accompany the 47th ITF Golden Prague, as well as several new programmes dedicated to both a professional and the general audience with special emphasis on – Exploring the music cultures of selected countries around the world
– Getting familiar with current superior productions in the field of modern dance – Music production for children and youth.
The cycle „TV stations present…“ will showcase productions by TV Cultura Brazil, TV Kultura Poland, and Armenian television. Director Hans Hulscher and choreographer Mats Ek are the stars of the series “Tribute to…“, and with the new programme “In Memory of...”, the festival will pay homage to the work of choreographer Merce Cunningham. It is a great honour for us that Jiří Kylián has taken over as patron for the dance part of the accompanying festival programme.
Of course, the whole festival will again be open to anyone interested in high-quality music and dance

CLASART’S COOPERATIONS WITH CLEVELAND AND ZÜRICH TO BE CONTINUED Clasart Classic, is continuing its successful collaboration with The Cleveland Orchestra. The phenomenally acclaimed performance of Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn under the musical direction of Pierre Boulez was recorded just a few months before the upcoming 150th anniversary of Gustav Mahler's birth with the cooperation of ARTE. Guest singers were mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená and baritone Christian Gerhaher. The concert took place in Cleveland's Severance Hall and was also part of the many international tributes honoring the 85th birthday of Pierre Boulez, who also celebrated his 45th anniversary with the Cleveland Orchestra at this occasion. The concert included the Adagio from the 10th Symphony in F sharp major and the Lieder cycle Des Knaben Wunderhorn.
Also, the cooperation with Opernhaus Zürich is being continued in 2010: The recording of Humperdinck's Königskinder has just been completed. Under the musical direction of Ingo Metzmacher, Jens-Daniel Herzog's production drew storms of ovations from press and public alike. In particular, the vocal artistry and acting talent of German tenor Jonas Kaufmann were frenetically applauded. Kaufmann's co-star, soprano Isabel Rey, dazzled in the role of the Goose girl.
