HIGHLIGHTING PHILANTHROPY ON THE NORTHSHORE

Our partners at the Northshore Community Foundation exist to make it easy for each of us to make a difference in our own backyard. In their 18th year, the Foundation has touched over $80 million dollars in philanthropic fuel, focusing on simplifying, organizing, and magnifying philanthropy at every turn. The Foundation has reached those remarkable numbers through three primary ways. First, they engage hundreds of individuals, families, companies, and nonprofits in a membership model that promotes active connections and charitable work. Secondly, they take the paperwork out of “doing good” by administering funds that act as charitable checkbooks for any purpose. Lastly, they step into big roles when the need is great – especially in times of disaster. Through these three unique and critical roles, the Northshore Community Foundation uses its expertise and resources to magnify the incredible charitable work so prevalent in our region. Below is a sample of the good people and projects that are changing lives every day on the Northshore.

Corporate Advised Fund:

Lead. Build. Serve. Kent Design Build embodies these principles by making a meaningful impact through philanthropy with a Corporate Advised Fund at the Foundation. This giving tool allows Kent Design Build to support initiatives that align with their values, create annual grant programs for community needs, o r invest in projects that inspire growth and opportunity.

Field of Interest Fund:

The Louisiana Travel Association utilizes a Field of Interest Fund at NCF to empower the next generation of Louisiana’s hospitality leaders. By supporting education, school programs, and aspiring professionals, the fund bridges the gap between learning and industry, creating opportunities for innovation and excellence in tourism.

“Through this fund, we are investing in the future of Louisiana’s hospitality industry, ensuring it thrives for generations to come,” says Chris Landry, President & CEO of the Louisiana Travel Association.

Donor Advised Fund:

A Foundation fundholder leveraged their Donor Advised Fund to support Holy Family Hospitality Hermitage, where Sister Theresa Berlin has been a cornerstone of the Covington West 30’s community for nearly three decades. Donor Advised Funds offer a flexible and impactful way for individuals to support causes they care about, like Sister Berlin’s mission of fellowship, shared meals, and community support. “If we have it, and we can spare it, we do something a little more special,” she says.
