The undergrad course explores the use of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) in the arts. Students learn about the unique artistic potential of A.I. and machine learning and how to incorporate them into their creative process. The course is designed for artists, designers, computer science and engineering students, and anyone interested in the intersection of machine learning and creative industries.
Global Innovation Design Programme -
The Royal College of Art and Imperial College London
The graduate-level course examines the impact of machine learning on art and culture, particularly in creative fields such as media art, music, performance, and literature. Students look into issues such as the future of creativity, the artist's role, and cultural aspects of creativity, and use AI tools to create unique concepts and artistic prototypes. The courses also address ethical concerns such as authorship bias and fairness, copyright, impact on creative industries, and cultural heritage. and ownership,

In his famous Taoist anecdote on Butterfly Dreams, Zhuang-zi wrote: “Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man.”
At first impression, this might seem to be a question of what is real? However, this implies a favouring of one state over another. But both are dreams equally real (and unreal) and oscillate between the ego and unconscious self.
Such exchanges allow one to explore their inner selves; in other words, the butterfly and man are both selves, from dreaming, awakening to wondering, transforming and melting between states.
Butterfly’s Dream: The New Aesthetic of AI in Artistic Practice is a metaphor that alludes to the latent qualities of machine learning. The works featured explores possible interchanges between dreams, and provoke dialogues surrounding the role of machines in sense-making. It demonstrates how AI can be used to enhance creativity and innovation in artistic practice, and the potential for AI to revolutionize the way we create and experience art.
The ADM Interdisciplinary Media Design Programme
Pathway is presenting a cross-section of its undergraduate and postgraduate interdisciplinary courses that explore AI-generated artworks, the impact of AI on the future of art, specifically in terms of how AI is changing the creative process and the role of the artist.

MEMENTO is a commentary on the parallels between AI art and the humanistic ability to recall memories & imagination. While details are not in focus, there is emphasis on distinct occurrences that we make vivid notes off when a connection is made. This project is a collaborative memory bank of Jon & Ben’s with a focus on how diverse memories can be given the same emotional experience, with the help of AI algorithms & animation to illustrate the phenomenon.
The output of MEMENTO is a visual animated piece of real-life occurrences, a marriage of hand-illustrated scenes in 3D spaces, powered by Ebsynth, an AI algorithmic software dedicated to piecing information in an animated format.

"3 x 1 = 1" is an exhibition that delves into the profound impact of childhood experiences on our personalities. Using StableDiffusion, I've created AIgenerated imaginary friends based on childhood memories and experiences, brought to life as 3D models in virtual environments. These friends are not just figments of our imagination but an integral part of our personal development. Through this exhibition, I invite viewers to reflect on their own childhood experiences and appreciate the enduring impact of imagination and memory.

In the area of AI, does craftsmen spirit still exist?
Comparing to the real Dunhuang Murals which was been created over a time span of 1600 years. This project recreates a stimulated 3D rendered environment with Dunhuang-styled murals in a short time spent of 6 weeks. Mural image and texture are generated by AI by converting contemporary photos into paintings.

"Cometale" is an interactive installation that draws inspiration from the ancient Chinese book "Divination by Astrological and Meteorological Phenomena" (also known as the Book of Silk). This book was compiled by Chinese astronomers during the Western Han Dynasty (202BC-9AD) and it listed 29 comets that appeared over 300 years. Each comet is associated with an event in history, ranging from the empowerment of emperors to plagues and wars. To create the visuals in the installation, AI painting tools are used to blend the design of each comet diagram with images of life or natural phenomena on Earth that share similar visual characteristics.

An AI generated immersive space that brings to life the memories of Ming, an AI. Ming ( 明 ), also means "tomorrow" in Chinese. It symbolizes the nearexistence of Ming and the spaces generated by the AI. They look like they can exist somewhere in the world, but not really, similar to those spaces stored deep in our memories that have become a syncretism of reality and our imagination. With Ming, we create a new world with a new image that have not existed

Feedback* is an audiovisual toolkit that is a collection of modules in Touchdesigner that connects externally via Open Sound Control / MIDI to external software such as Ableton Live or any other custom software. With the framework in mind, a first performance is conceptualized and proposed with Future-Past-Corals, a performance that speculates a fictional future in which corals have ceased to exist as a result of global warming.

Cog in the Machine is an experimental graphic novel that takes a posthuman approach to narrativity and design. The project seeks to use themes of technology to not only provide answers about our place in the universe as humans, but also to raise questions that contribute to the posthuman dialogue. The graphic novel features narrative and visuals produced in collaboration with open-source artificial intelligence models such as Generative Pretrained Transformer Vr. 2 (GPT-2) by OpenAI and Attentional Generative Adversarial Network (AttnGAN) by Microsoft Deep Learning Technology Centre.

Memory Misprint(); is an experimental media that explores the fallible nature of the human memory. A reimagination of the artist’s childhood memories, the work utilizes artificial intelligence to visualise memory distortion. The outcome mixes reality with the imagined, creating visuals that speak about the strangeness of the human memory, curated through editorial and digital media. Memory Misprint(); encourages viewers to indulge in a fictional mental space while reflecting on the reliability of their recollections.

Showcased at Ten Square Singapore as a part of the 2023 ART-ACT Festival, Box Body is a live interactive 3D performance of a giant inside a box on a curved billboard screen, inspired by the themes of urban isolation and systemic constriction. It is made with an unique film-based production technique that can generate instantaneous anamorphic 3D visuals without the need for technical 3D modeling expertise. Prompt-based image generation AI tools were used for rapid generation of visual ambience and narrative concepts to facilitate communication between team members and collaborators.
