Why did you want to become a lawyer?

It is a cliché to say that you want to become a lawyer to help people but that is exactly what attracted me to law. I started work in the legal profession as a Tribunal Clerk. It was helping people attending the tribunals and the panel of tribunal judges that drew me to working in the legal profession and ultimately qualifying as a lawyer.

What do you enjoy the most about what you do?

I enjoy a challenge and working as a real estate lawyer gives me just that. I provide legal advice and guidance to a variety of people and companies, with wide-reaching and ever-changing goals.

It provides me with the challenge of thinking on my feet and the pleasure of liaising with people from a number of different areas.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?

When my clients are presented with very difficult situations and where the cards are stacked against them, I am proud that I can achieve the result they seek by thinking creatively and outside the box and by using a strong negotiation stance.

What key bit of advice would you give to somebody considering undertaking a property transaction?

No matter how good a relationship is between two parties, in a property transaction it is essential to realise that situations change. It is always best to document your intentions and obligations so that no misunderstandings occur later.

Being prepared to put an agreement in writing is a true act of good faith.

What is the best client feedback you have received?

“I realise I found a unicorn with you”.

What do you do in your spare time?

I enjoy a number of crafting activities, stand-up paddle boarding, surfing, and sitting down with a good book.
