Welcome to the World of Wild “DESERT”

Leopards & Shepherds The undiscovered Experience... Lying just minutes upstream of the Jawai Bandh, one of western Rajasthan’s largest reservoirs which attracts migratory birds, including flamingo, geese and cranes, Jawai Leopard Camp sits in a landscape of rocky outcrops, caves and scrub – the perfect habitat for leopard. A thriving population of them lives in this region and the chance of spotting leopard here is among the highest in India, especially with the camps expert naturalists and trackers to guide you. The Gadaria are also referred to as Baghela or Pal, are a community of shepherds. The word Gadaria is derived from the Hindi word gadar meaning sheep and denotes “one who keeps or tends sheep”. The traditional occupation of a majority of the Gadaria continues to be herding and rearing of sheep and goats for their wool, milk and meat. They also sell their animals in the local markets and fairs. Most of them own small-to-medium sized plots of land, or have acquired them under one of the official land-for-thelandless schemes in the post-independence period, and practice agriculture as a subsidiary occupation.

Go Off Roading

In the Deadly Dessert with Incent... In a 4x4 Jeep, drive through terrain that is abundant in wild life and you will get to spot the black buck, the chinkara, the neel gai, and maybe even a wolf if lucky. During the winter months, most water bodies in Rajasthan become home to migratory Siberian birds like the demoiselle crane, various ducks and geese. You will have an opportunity to observe and photograph these magnificent birds along with the local avian population like the great Indian bustard, the lesser bustard, partridge, imperial grouse, sand grouse and many more.
