ugust is the month of festivals with lots of holidays and less of work. It feels good at times but it also results in the increase in workload. We were planning to introduce few more features and columns into this magazine but due to the constraint of time we were unable to do so. But I assure you that our first-anniversary issue will bring lots of surprises to our readers. It is our constant endeavor to bring out the best of the contents in this magazine. The existing columns are serving the purpose at the moment but still there is a need for more reading material in it. We have been receiving the requests from our regular readers for the improvement in the content and let me assure you that we are trying our best to make this magazine as error free as possible. The growth of our clients in the business brings happiness on our face. We have featured the story of one our client who has set up an example in the nose-diving property market by introducing the new ideas. Many think that the property market in Goa is stagnant but the SpaceDeal Real Estate Company feels just opposite that. According to them, the real estate market in Goa has huge potential to grow provided it gets into the right place at right time. Mr. Veljee, the CEO of SpaceDeal Private Limited feels that if the reasonable rates with the quality product provided to the consumer, the real estate market in Goa will boom. The new initiative called “Nurrallah's Housing Society Hub” will bring that change in the real estate market of Goa. Although Mr. Veljee does not want to divulge much on the project at the moment but he is sure of hitting the roof of the property market in Goa. Keep reading for more updates on this new project. The issue of Language is raising its head once again in the state of Goa with the Marathi being amended as the second official language in Goa Assembly. Konkani already being the official language of the state many legislatures are against the Marathi to be made the second official language of Goa. The section of In Focus will put some more light on the language issue of Goa. Goa Tourism industry is waiting to see some major changes with the central government decided to sanction about 100 crores for Goa under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme. This scheme will help Goa Tourism take on the development works of the rivers and coastal belts in Goa. It will also help promoting the hinterland tourism in the state. GTDC ORGANIZES BIRD GUIDE COURSE TO PROMOTE EMPLOYMENT IN STATE
In one of the most innovative endeavors of the tourism department of Goa in a pursuit of driving traffic of the discerning tourists into the state, the Goa Tourism Development Corporation has decided upon the promotion of Avi Tourism or Bird Tourism in Goa in a big way. As part of this initiative, the empanelment of Certified Bird Guides & Naturalists Programme will be established for the coming tourist season 2016-17 in association with Bird Institute of Goa. According to the sources in the department, the above initiative will help many enthusiast and nature lovers to set up their own business or even take up the part time job in this field. Applicants to the programme will be interviewed by a Screening Board set by GTDC to gauge the aptitude of the candidates for this programme. Decisions of the board will be final and binding. The cost of the course to each candidate will be Rs. 10,000 which will be nonrefundable fees, that means in the event of candidate fails in the final test the fees will be forfeited. The amount includes costs of training 10 \ INCREDIBLE GOA \ AUGUST 2016
including faculty with vast experience in birding and locations in Goa, course material, facilities, travel, and meals. This programme is a two-week certification program culminating with a test. Successful candidates will be certified for the duration of 3 years. Based on the selection process as mentioned above once the candidates are successful in the test, they would be listed on the GTDC Avi Tourism portal for engagement of prospective tourists. The charges would be self-determined by the candidates through combination of their ratings on eBird, past reviews and guide experience. The charges will range from Rs 1000 to 6000 per
trip per tourist where Rs 6000 that is equivalent to the USD 100 are the international norms of guide engagement rates. The rates are for one tourist for 3 hours and the maximum number of tourists attached to each guide will be 3. The engagement of guides will be done only through the GTDC Avi Tourism portal and payments credited to the guide after the trip after deducting the charges including those related to tax compliance said the sources. Those who are interested in the taking advantage of the above opportunity may get in touch with GTDC at their office at Paryatan Bhavan, Patto Plaza.
