Fruit sponsorship helps kinder FRUIT Property Geelong agents have embraced their inner child with a new sponsorship program for Grovedale East kindergarten. The sponsorship is part of a Fruit initiative in Geelong to support local communities with funding for educational facilities and sporting associations. Fruit agent Dion Plumb said the sponsorship program was particularly close to his heart. “I went to the Grovedale East kinder and was brought up in the area,” Mr Plumb said. “I plan to enrol my kids there so I have a vested interest in helping support the kinder in every way I can.” He said the initiative involved a 20 per cent donation of the sales commission for every homeowner who mentioned the kindergarten. “We also sponsored a fruit day with the kids to promote healthy eating, a trivia night with parents and a fine food and wine night,” he said. “Since our involvement, the kinder has exceeded previous funds raised and have new
educational material and playground equipment.” Grovedale East kindergarten coordinator Sally Freijah said the sponsorship had been instrumental in facilitating a surge of enrolments. “The first thing Fruit Property helped us with was to put up a board with information about the kinder,” Ms Freijah said. “Before the information board we couldn’t fill our classes and now we’re full and have enrolments already coming in thick and fast for next year.” Ms Freijah said the kinder had struggled in the past, particularly with rent costs. “Most kindergartens use Government land, so they don’t have to pay rent,” she said. “Our rental costs are very high but because of this funding we can get more art equipment and materials for our teachers. “It has meant that we can provide a more fun, exciting and educational time for the kids.”
