Work underway on ‘gated community’ GEELONG’S property market entered a new era with construction starting on its first gated community last month. National Lifestyle Villages’ Lakeside Lara sales representative Arlene Goddard said more than half of stage one was under offer, with residents ready to move in early next year. The $75 million estate offered 230 passive-solar-designed homes, a modern clubhouse, an indoor heated pool and spa, a tennis court, a bowls green, a theatre, a library and a bar, she said. The state would provide a safe and secure environment for “over-45-age” buyers. “Being an entirely new concept for Lara, people are excited about the prospect of downsizing, living in security and making new friends in a resort-style environment,” Ms Goddard said. NLV group chief executive Mike Hollett said the village offered value for money. “It’s the perfect time to get rid of your mortgage, reduce the costs of maintaining your home and upgrade to a better way of life,” he said.
