Clients ‘set to value’ Harcourts THE VALUES of honesty, fun, laughter and courage have inspired a Geelong real estate agent to leave her comfort zone with a huge leap of faith into her own agency. Harcourts Geelong franchisee Donna Buckingham said the company philosophy sealed the deal in her decision to open the agency. Ms Buckingham said Harcourts’ philosophy focused on simple values and honest communication with clients. “Those values are a really unusual approach for a real estate agency but they fit in so well with my work ethic and my personality,” Ms Buckingham said. “Our team will be working hard to uphold those values and we’re looking to establish a reputation for looking after our clients.” Ms Buckingham said her 17 years in retail and nine years of real estate experience would be a solid foundation for her new business. “We’re a young team but everyone is really experienced and incredibly savvy with new technology,” she said. “I’m really looking forward to taking a fresh approach to the industry and furthering my knowledge of the community.” Ms Buckingham was impressed with her team’s willingness to undertake extensive training and their dedication to the agency.
“We have four selling agents who are all accredited,” she said. “Every salesperson has also gone to the Harcourt’s academy, which is a week-long course followed by a refresher after six months and they’re also coached for their first 12 months working here. “It means all our agents have extensive industry knowledge and can provide the best service for our clients.” Ms Buckingham said Geelong’s “vibrant” market had plenty to offer a new agency. “I think in Geelong we’re really lucky to be able to sell all kinds of properties. “There’s a big range of homes with a whole lot of different prices, so we can target first and secondhome buyers and investors. “Geelong is really unique like that whereas in places like Melbourne the prices are almost always over the $500,000 mark, so it’s a lot different.” Ms Buckingham said the new office in Ryrie Street would focus on properties from Moolap to Geelong and Newtown. “We’re looking to expand to having at least eight staff at our Geelong office over the next five years before starting another office on the other side of the river,” she said.
