Builder ‘diving into fight’ against malaria scourge A GEELONG building company has jumped in the deep end with a swimming club to raise money for malaria prevention in Third World countries. Hotondo Homes Ocean Grove’s Allie Barker swapped her power suit for goggles and a swimmer’s cap for a 21-kilometre fundraising swim with Boroughcoutas Masters Swimming Club. Ms Barker said the joint venture had so far raised enough money for 121 mosquito nets for distribution to African countries. Malaria kills almost 1.5 million people every year, with children under five accounting for 70 per cent of the deaths, she said. “The mosquito net is the easiest and most effective way to prevent malaria and it’s amazing the difference it can make to a child’s wellbeing,” Ms Barker said. “As a member of the Boroughcoutas, I thought it was a good opportunity to get Hotondo
