What is a Win Bet?

A PLACE accumulator is a bet that runs over seven races and requires the horse/horses that you have selected to finish in the first three in each race for your bet to be successful.

What races do place accumulators start from?

The first race of a place accumulator can be determined by the number of races on the card. If there are nine races, the place accumulator will begin in Race 3 and if there are eight races, the place accumulator will begin in Race 2. there are two types of place accumulators that you can take – the straight line or the permutation. We will take a look at these below:

Straight Line

The easiest way to select a place accumulator is to take a straight line. this involves taking one horse to finish in the first three positions in each race. If any of the selections do not finish in the first three places, your bet will lose.

Leg 1 – 1 Leg 2 – 2 Leg 3 – 6 Leg 4 – 6 Leg 5 – 1 Leg 6 – 8 Leg 7 – 4 the above bet costs R1 – a minimum of R1.

Permutation

As we discussed a bit earlier, you can pick more than one horse if you want to in your place accumulator. this is called a permutation (when you select more than one horse that could potentially finish in the top three in each race). By selecting more horses in each race, you must remember that it will cost you more to take the bet for a chance to win the full dividend. Let’s have a look at the below place accumulator permutation:

Leg 1 – 2, 5, 6 Leg 2 – 1, 3 Leg 3 – 5, 7, 9 Leg 4 – 6, 8, 10 Leg 5 – 7 Leg 6 – 4, 10, 13 Leg 7 – 2, 3 Perm = R324

The above permutation is worked out by multiplying the number of horses in the various legs by each other. In this scenario, the equation was calculated as follows: 3 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 1 x 3 x 2 – which worked out to R324. the bet can either be taken multiple times or as a percentage.

Multiple Times

If the bet mentioned above was taken for R324, you would catch the bet one time. that means that if the dividend was R2 500, then you would win R2 500 if your bet was a winner. You can also take the bet for more than the full bet amount. For example, if you struck the bet for R648, it would mean that you catch the bet two times. this means that you would win the dividend multiplied by two, so in this case: R5 000.

Percentage

If you take the bet for R32.40, it would mean you would receive 10% of the dividend should you win. In this case, 10% of the dividend would equate to R250. this bet is known as the professional punters bet as you are required to take horses to finish in the places for each race

Betting Rules

As you may have guessed, there are some other rules that you need to be aware of before taking your first place accumulator.

Multiplier rule

If you take a permutation and more than two horses run into the first three, your permutation will multiply. For example, if your permutation accumulates to R324, you took 50% of your perm for R162 and two of your horses run into the money in any particular leg, your percentage will double. this multiplier continues to grow if more than one of your horses continues to arrive in the various legs. You may start with a 50% perm and could end up catching it multiple times.

Scratchings

If the horse that you have in your place accumulator gets scratched, your selection will be replaced by the eventual tote favourite as declared by the tabGold website.

Carry over

In the event that the place accumulator is not won by one full ticket holder, the pool then carries over to the biggest event of that particular week which normally is the weekend’s race meeting. For example, if the place accumulator pool for Wednesday’s meeting is R500 000 and only 10% of the pool is won (R50 000), it means that R450 000 will be carried over to the next big meeting chosen by tab.

Difference between Open bet and Tote bet

An Open bet is a tote/tAB type bet taken with a bookmaker. the bookmaker – in this case, Hollywoodbets – lays the bet and pays the dividend as declared by the tote on the winning combinations. No fixed odds are agreed at the time the bet is placed. the winnings, and therefore the payout, is determined after the outcome of the event on which the open bet was struck becomes known with reference to the dividends generated by the totalizator.

Tote betting works by a player betting into a cumulative pool that also includes other punters. the payout is then shared among all of the winning players and this is referred to as a dividend. Remember that the total amount that gets paid out is determined by the number of people who won the pot. Armed with all of this knowledge, you now know how to take a place accumulator with Hollywoodbets! Likely pool on Hollywoodbets Durban July day = R1.7 million.
