Son Heung-Min
(Tottenham Hotspur)

Son can be expected to be a focal point of the Lilywhites’ attack in the season ahead and good performances from him can help Spurs end their 14-year trophy drought. The South Korean proved last season that Tottenham are not a one man show heavily dependent upon Harry Kane. Son scored 23 league goals for Spurs, finishing as the joint highest scorer in the Premier League alongside Mohamed Salah. Spurs showed progress under Antonio Conte last season, attaining a top four finish. Conte is an ambitious coach and there is no doubt that the Italian will be hoping to bring trophies to the club in the season ahead. Son is expected to be a focal point of the Lilywhites’ attack and good performances from him can help Spurs score silverware.

David de Gea
(Manchester United)
Manchester United were woeful in the Premier League last season, suffering their worst ever league finish. The aim under Erik Ten Hag in the new term will be to rebuild while also regaining a place in the top four... perhaps even top of the log! There is little doubt that the two top performers for the Red Devils last term were Cristiano Ronaldo and de Gea. De Gea has now truly established himself as a club legend at Old Trafford. It will be up to the Spaniard to once again command the defence this season and make several crucial saves as the club adjusts to new tactics under Ten Hag.

Mohamed Salah
(Liverpool)
After falling short to Manchester City by just one point last season, Liverpool will be looking to win the league title. Key to their plans will be Mohamed Salah whose role will also be slightly different this season. Not only will he be required to score goals but also to mentor young new players Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and to a lesser extent even Diogo Jota. The departure of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich also means that Salah will have to adjust his game-play to suit his new team-mates especially as Roberto Firmino could spend large portions of next season on the bench.

Erling Haaland
(Manchester City)
Haaland’s arrival at Manchester City means that the club finally has a replacement for their legend Sergio Aguero. The Norwegian’s goals record with former clubs Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund was simply outrageous as he averaged nearly a goal a game... and to top it all off, Haaland is only 22 years old. He will be expected to lead the line for a City attack which was in no short supply of goals last season. If Haaland can deliver, City will once again be strong contenders for the Premier League, perhaps they can go one further and seriously challenge for the Champions League.

Édouard Mendy
(Chelsea)
This is going to be an interesting season for Chelsea. They are under new ownership in the form of Todd Boehly and have lost one of the best defenders in the world in Antonio Rudiger. Mendy will start next season as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. As one of the more experienced players in the setup, he will now also be required to also play a leadership role, guiding and commanding as the last line of defence. The new Chelsea defensive unit will likely make mistakes in the early stages of next season and it is up to Mendy to ensure that the mistakes don’t result in goals galore against them.
