THE PERFECT WAY TO RECONNECT WITH FAMILY. WHY BE ANYWHERE ELSE?

As the country prepares to celebrate the Easter holiday season, the KwaZulu-Natal tourism sector is gearing up to welcome visitors from across the province and the country.

With the easing of the COVID-19 restrictions and the long-awaited opening up of tourism, I am glad to say that the time has now come for people to travel again: to explore the vast array of attractions and activities that are available in the exceptional Zulu Kingdom.

Just as the embattled tourism industry has suffered over the past year, so too, have potential visitors longed for the day when they could escape from their four walls and go on a much-deserved holiday. Now both parties are looking forward to meeting up once more.

Travel experiences have changed and it is still important not to let our guard down. Tourists can still enjoy themselves while also keeping safe if they observe the health protocols that everyone has become used to, namely: regularly washing hands, wearing a facemask, maintaining social distance and avoiding overcrowded places. And with our good weather, visitors can safely head for the great outdoors to experience the bush, beaches, ‘Berg, beauty spots and battlefields. That’s not forgetting the parks, the crocodile and other animal centres, golf courses, trails and a variety of sporting activities.

While our tourism industry knows the benefits of the sector all too well and appreciates everyone who supports it, I appeal to KZN residents – and everyone who supports our economy and province - to become ambassadors for the region and to help us promote our unique heritage and destination.

Tourism KwaZulu-Natal (TKZN) is currently mounting an aggressive marketing drive to restore our tourism industry to its former pre-pandemic glory and we all appreciate that word-of-mouth testimony is an invaluable asset in boosting our efforts. For those contemplating a KZN Easter holiday, check out the TKZN website (www.zulu.org.za) for specials, discounts and packages.

It would be great if visitors who have had a memorable experience in the province share their thoughts and stories on the “My KZN” Facebook page.

If, for some reason you are unable to take a well-deserved break in the Zulu Kingdom this Easter, I urge you to consider booking as soon as you can for the winter season. Travel is definitely picking up, particularly for the traditional busy times, and we would not want you to miss out.

Have a lovely and safe holiday in KZN –and come back soon.
