CONFERENCE SPEAKER BIOS

THE REVEREND DR. IRWYN INCE, JR., is the new Mission to North America Coordinator Pro Tempore. Formerly, Dr. Ince served at Grace DC Presbyterian Church as Director of the Institute for Cross-Cultural Mission. He is a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary (Master of Arts, Religion, 2006), and Covenant Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry, 2016). In January 2006, after an 11-year career as an engineer with Motorola, he began pastoral ministry at Mount Zion Covenant Church in Bowie, Maryland, which merged with New Town Church in Columbia to plant City of Hope Presbyterian Church, where he served as Senior Pastor from 2007–2017. He is the author of The Beautiful Community: Unity, Diversity and the Church at Its Best, published in 2020, and also contributed to the books Heal Us Emmanuel: A Call for Racial Reconciliation, Representation, and Unity in the Church, and All Are Welcome: Toward a Multi-Everything Church. He and his wife, Kim, have been married 29 years and have four grown children. THE REVEREND RONNIE GARCIA grew up in Houston, Texas, with hardworking and loving Mexican immigrant parents. By God’s grace, he surrendered his life to Christ in high school. In college, at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Ronnie was discipled and his passion for studying the Bible was kindled. Even though he served five years as an officer, he always looked for opportunities to serve in the local church. During Ronnie’s first assignment in the Air Force, he met his wife, Amanda. Over the last 20 years, they have lived in three countries, six houses, and now have four teenagers. The bulk of Ronnie’s ministerial life has been directed at helping to plant the first three PCA churches in Puerto Rico. Recently, the Garcias moved to Denver, Colorado, where Ronnie serves as the Senior Pastor of Denver Presbyterian Church.

The Kingdom of God CONFERENCE SPEAKERS:

THE REV. DR. IRWYN INCE | THE REV. RONNIE GARCIA The only way the kingdom of God is going to be manifest in this world before Christ comes is if we manifest it by the way we live as citizens of heaven and subjects of the King. — R. C. SPROUL

INDEPENDENT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

My Dear Friends: After not having IPC Missions Conference in 2021 because of COVID, I am looking forward to this year’s conference. One reason why is our theme: the Kingdom of God is central to the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray, central to his own preaching (Mark 1:14-15), and so must be central to our own praying and teaching as we participate in God’s mission in his world. Another reason why I’m looking forward to our conference is our speakers: Dr. Irwyn Ince was recently appointed coordinator of our denomination’s Mission to North America. Irwyn is a powerful preacher, a thoughtful leader, a generous and gracious partner. We need men like Irwyn to help us think about God’s Kingdom. And I’m thrilled that Rev. Ronnie Garcia is with us also. Several IPC folks have gotten to know Ronnie through short-term missions trips to Puerto Rico; now, Ronnie is in Denver, working in a city that, in 2010’s census, was 31 percent Hispanic or Latino. I’ve known Ronnie since he was a student at Covenant Seminary; his heart for Christ’s Kingdom is contagious. I hope you make your plans to take advantage of all that God has for us in our Missions Conference this year as we participate as answers to our own praying that “your kingdom come!” In the grip of God’s grace,

Sean Lucas, PhD | Senior Pastor
