Gifted Mind
Gifted Mind Mine is a gifted mind; open it up, remove the foil, I bring fruit like African soil, my endorphins precious like oil, Never to spoil as much as the enemy boils with hatred, The soul of my art is secret and sacred. I have emancipated through songs I created, Because many listened through and really related, Still this is not a piece about my ego inflated, Rather a piece where my gifts have been stated. In gifted minds is were true victories are tasted, Rainbow colours in these minds copied and pasted, Talent is a gift and it shouldn’t be wasted, In a desert of lost hopes it is a spirit oasis. If you’re gifted be uplifted and motivated, Only those who use the power are getting elevated, Sit on your gifts and you will be relegated, Gifted mind I am, I’m glad that I have made it.

Are you deaf?? Can’t you hear earth squawking? Or are you blind and can’t see mother earth coughing and sneezing? As everybody grasps now, man today is being really reckless and careless all what matters for him is only satisfying his desires; always getting and never giving , and always thinking about today and tomorrow as it seems it doesn’t matter. No actually it does matter everything does matter! Fundamentally, the world is endangered by global warming and green house effect which is going to be really hazardous to us. And our life will be so critical. Look to unethical companies that dump its venomous trash into the water every day. You say “okay” we got rid of this junk, but in the future are we going to drink poison!!! Of course as the human nature that’s entirely objectionable. What's more, the CO2 emissions caused by exhaust’s fumes from motors causing an enormous chaos... where do you think is this leading us? Unquestionably, it causes many diseases and health-problems. And apart from this, should we also involve those victimized creatures?? Do animals also have something to do with our problems?? So why hunting every single day? And destroying their habitats? What is the use of it? This will absolutely lead to the extinction of many species and for undoubtedly it’ll harm the ecosystem. So no worry about our future, it’s going to be dark and dim! Because seemingly we are proceeding towards hell where nothing will be left for us… and then we are a lost generation; we’re not going to find food to eat or cloth to sue. On top of that the fertile lands will disappear due to the cut-down of trees. Nonetheless, Man should take action towards these dreadful problems since every single person on this planet wants to live healthy and happy. So let’s make our beloved earth bounce again for a better life in the forthcoming future, and that by taking cognizant steps towards the solutions and beings mindful about our deeds.

THE DEBATE ARENA “This new collaboration with debate arena helps us create a new coloumn in our issues that mainly target the problems faced in the African continent; which will be aimed to target the african youth to stand and solve the poblems faced by their communities” Founder of Independent Skies Magazine Almustafa M. ebate arena is a new insert in this magazine that will be discussing critical issues affecting Africa and it is on this arena that possible solutions will be offered. In this first series of the debate arena Nana Ama Yeboah Diamond ( a speaker with Debate Arena, entrepreneur and Founder and CEO of Sangy Nursing Services) discusses the issue of graduate unemployment on the African continent, and calls it the canker which must cease. The canker, graduate unemployment, is gradually engulfing Africa, at a speed that may be unstoppable if care is not taken. The issue of graduate unemployment to me should be looked at in this vein… ..i. The definition ii. The cause , and finally iii. The solution. Some say graduate unemployment should be blamed on governments who have constantly failed Africa woefully by not creating jobs, and etc. It may be true though but my question is HOW LONG WILL WE CONTINUE TO RELY ON OUR

Written By…Nana Ama Yeboah Diamond (Speaker Debate Arena and CEO Sangy Nursing Services) GOVERNMENT? Our inability as young Africans to read along the lines in the past may end us up in a future that we will do nothing but continually regret and the “had I known’ song will be our dirge. Graduate Unemployment as defined by the unknown is where people who complete school are left jobless. This may be as a result of the job market not having enough space to accommodate the graduates being churned out by academic institutions. Graduate unemployment has also been fuelled by the fact that the youth of today look for white collar jobs that pay very well as they aspire for big mansions as homes and nice flashy cars. In contrast to this employers look for experienced employees with 4-5 years’ experience (something that fresh college graduates do not possess). So if every young graduate is seeking to work in a bigger company or white collar jobs and job owners are looking for people with 4-5 years of experience then this canker will remain unsolvable. As much as ev-
ery graduate also want to own a car and a fancy house just to mention but a few, there is more to life than this; besides the real world of employment is not a fancy world. Yes getting these is cool but it should not be the utmost. For Employers who seek for only the experienced, the least said about them the better. How can these graduates have 4 years’ experience after school? I guess the answer is whilst you are in school, dear graduate find a job to do! Combining working and studying may be tedious but if you can, DO IT! Ladies and gentlemen the remedy to graduate unemployment is entrepreneurship. Unemployed graduate must be their own boss. Creating jobs in the fields of agriculture, technology to mention but a few is the way to go. I write this article as a nurse, an entrepreneur, a writer and a career coach, and I am a testimony to the power of entrepreneurship. If you know your field, if you know your strength please use it now….create jobs it could be beads making, shoe mak-
ing ,bag making dress making etc by so doing you can employ others thereby reducing THE CANKER ITSELF. Graduate unemployment is here with us, but if all young Africans change their mindsets and remind themselves our governments in themselves have their own problems to solve, like electricity, portable drinking water, roads etc ,then its effect will least be felt. Let’s rise African Youth, let take our destiny into our own hands. Let’s form strong partnership across the region, from the North, South, East, and West. We will make it. Let’s rise to build our continent into making it GREATER AND STRONGER….Falling on our leaders and employers to me is becoming a thing of the past. We are capable of changing our own destiny. The time has come and the time is now…….May God bless Africa, May God bless our Continent, May God bless us all.

ctually, in our world and society there are several situations that need to be improved to reach a dignified standard of living. These problems are: education, poverty, hunger, unemployment, delinquency, health, etc. My name is Fernando Márquez, I’m Mexican. In my country one of the biggest problems is definitely, education. At International level México has very low levels of education, from basic to superior education, in the list of OECD members and other countries, México figures with the lowest education level, behind Russia, behind Chile, behind Turkey, etc. This problem of the lack of education and education quality reflects in other aspects of living and society such as: economy, employment, poverty, equality, delinquency and others. After experiencing and observing this situation in my country I decided, with some friends of

my University to create a youthdriven and executed initiative to address this situation and improve the education quality in our community. That’s how “Youth with Vision” was born. This initiative and Project was officially created on July 1st. of 2013, but it was planned months before. The main goal of Youth with Vision is developing leaders in high schools, specifically public high schools with a social focus. How are we going to develop these young students? Youth with Vision Project consists in giving/teaching without any cost neither to the school and/or students workshops and trainings in different subjects to develop different abilities in order to give them the knowledge and tools to have the opportunity to a better academic, human and professional future and to be leaders in the Community and give back something to the people in the Community. Some of the subjects that we will
be teaching to the high school students are: oral and written expression, debate abilities, sexual education, Projects planning and execution, Entrepreneurship, introduction to political thinking, social and civic participation, Community and social service opportunities, security and prevention, culture, etc. Some of the benefits that the students are going to receive are: a better preparation for the professional scenario, an integral formation, a social focus to help the Community, opportunities for scholarships to study and participate in Contests and Conferences, knowledge about the different careers that they can choose to study, and leadership. To conclude this article, I want to invite all of you to do something to help your Community and your country. The best way to resolve something is to start by yourself, everything is possible if you really want it and work for it.

Like one who sees dreams in the darkest night A time of fright Like one who believes when there’s nothing to believe in In an age so dim My heart feels dark, and my thoughts so heavy Is this all that life requires? So little a levy? What should I believe in? Where should I hope? For the Oracle sees beyond the system, beyond the scope Beyond this time and this culture, whose heart beats cold Beyond their cold vein and winter storms, that have claimed the old What should I believe in? Where should I hope? The government and the system? I’ve been there before! I feel like a pilgrim with a long journey before me, Before I leave the precinct, let my mind explode Let my voice quake like a toad in a winter fog Un-thicken this intricate system, unwind it clog by clog Maybe then, as a voice that I am I’ll begin to see a reality of this dream that I claim What should I believe in? Where should I hope? I hope for a time when people shall live for more than just themselves... by Peter Zoe from Zimbabwe
