Fastest to reverse write names of all Tamil Nadu districts
Dear Readers,
The month of flowers, colors and happiness is here. India Book of Records is proud to add to this happiness by sharing the stories of 11 IBR record holders who received the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2022 from the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi at the ceremonious occasion of the 73rd Republic Day, 2022.
Also, happy to share other record-beakers’ adventures who were busy even during a stand-still lockdown scenario, when there was an atmosphere of despair and religiously pursued their passion. Bengaluru-born record holder Rebecca Taylor could not return to Australia due to the lockdown. Instead of sitting idle, she learned to carve finely on wood and set a record by creating many unique pieces that were most worthy of a record. 73-year-old Lalithamma from Bengaluru was no less. She was engaged in handicrafts during her free hours that accounted for a considerable collection of over two thousand dolls. Similarly, Amravati brought in two passionate instructors who were devoted to help girls creating a wonderous record where they mingled the activities of colourful Rangoli and with skillful Karate. Fastest identification of human bones by this child The record for the fastest identification of all bones of a human skeleton has been set by Shreyaan Bivin of Kollam city in Kerala, India. At the age of 7 years, 5 months and 18 days, this amazing boy identified and recalled all 206 bones of the human skeleton in 2 minutes 29 seconds only. This performance was confirmed by the India Book of Records (IBR) on November 24, 2021.
B
orn on June 6, 2014, Shreyaan Bivin has already received an appreciation certificate from the India Book of Records for his outstanding talent and performance. One such achievement is also recorded in the Asia Book of Records (ABR). Now this child prodigy has made a national record on the strength of his abilities, which is a splendid proof of his unique memory and intelligence. Shreyaan will turn eight years old on June 6, 2022. Shreyaan’s father, Mr Bivin Chandra, currently lives in Oman in connection with his work. He said on the phone from Oman that Shreyaan studies in a school in Kerala and is with family in Oman due to the Covid pandemic followed by lockdown and disruptions. Living in Oman, he is in constant touch with his school through an online
medium and is studying perfectly even though he is away from school. Shreyaan is quite interested in almost everything under the sky. He wants to know everything. The father proudly tells that Shreyaan has obtained the Byju’s Junior Coding Certificate and due to the knowledge of coding, he creates small games on his own on the computer. He spends most of his time searching things on Google. The things that keep him glued on Google are famous personalities. He reads biographies of great people and wants to understand how they became great. What were the habits of great people
and what kind of works did they do, which gave them such tremendous recognition. Shreyaan is also very fond of video mixing. While on one hand he is interested in computer software, on the other hand he is also fond of biology. He likes to understand the structure of the human body. He has the same understanding as the elders about balanced food, useful diet and vitamins, minerals etc. And sometimes he even guides his parents regarding food and drinks. His interest in biology can be traced to the fact that he watches and enjoys a cartoon show called Doctor Binoc on
TV. He has extensive knowledge of heart and kidney function. His mother, Soumya Jyoti helps him in school studies. Many Indian families live in Oman, due to which Shreyaan does not miss anything. He’s got good company in Oman. Mr Bivin’s message to other parents is that special care should be taken of the food of the children. By the time Shreyaan turned four, he kept him away from things like chocolates and cakes. He says that Vitamin D3 is very important for the proper development of the body.

Passionate collector since childhood
A
30-years old engineer, Arupanand Rao from Orissa, has been fond of collecting different kinds of objects since childhood. He had collected 1500 Pokemon trump cards in his school days. There used to be a popular TV program - Beyblade, which was based on a character looking like a spinning top (lattu). Seeing this program, he collected about 25 mechanical spinning tops, which were made of metal and plastic. At one time, he started collecting different types of domestic and foreign coins and colourful match boxes, however, later on, he gave away his rare collection of 200 coins to a friend. The hobby of buying popular action and superhero figurines caught his attention in 2017 when he was preparing for his UPSC exams in Delhi. This craze continued till 2021, after which he returned to his home town Patnagarh in District Bolangir, Orissa. He has been in his home town since then. He collected a total of 331 figurnies, which is a record and for which his name got included in the India Book of Records (IBR) on January 9, 2022. These figurines (toys) of

popular action and superheroes adorn an entire wall of Arup’s living room. These include figurines of superheroes such as Ironman, X Men, Captain America, Moonknight, Avengers, Deadpool, Thanos, Hulk, Hawkeye, Captain Marvel, Transformers, Silver Surfer, Wolverine, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy and Venom among others. Arup said that he had to spend a significant amount of money to collect these figurines, although he has received some of them as gifts also. He bought most of them from Delhi markets and Amazon as well. An Amazon staffer helped him a lot in this crazy task. The salesman not only informed him about new items, but also provided rare figurines. He spent about 1.5 lakh rupees for this collection. He raised this amount from pocket money and salary from his first job. Later, he did not like the job, so quit. Initially, family members and acquaintances made fun of this childish hobby and asked him to not waste his pocket money on toys. But Arup had a different take on this. He considers this hobby to be an investment as these figurines have a significant

resale value and some of them can fetch great returns for him in the future. Arup is preparing for Civil Services Examination these days after completing his B.Tech from Biju Patnaik University, Rourkela, Orissa. He has done B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, while in 12th standard he has also studied Biology. The young man is so fond of wildlife photography that if given a chance, he is keen to join the NetGeo channel, for which he has been advised to do a journalism and mass communication course. He is a member of the NatGeo Society, a platform for freelance photographers. He has also done a lot of work as a freelance editor of Wikipedia to raise awareness
about snakes and their conservation. He thinks people kill snakes out of ignorance, as not all reptiles are poisonous. Similarly, on Canada’s inaturallist.org website, he has shared numerous pictures of butterflies and moths. Arup has been interested in reading comics, making cartoons and drawing since childhood. Today he has made a record in his name through this hobby. The record for collecting the maximum number of figurines of superheroes was set by Arupananda Rao (born on February 26, 1991) of Bolangir, Orissa. As per the India Book of Records, he collected a total number of 331 figurines of action and superheroes, as confirmed on January 9, 2022.

Bandra Focal: Asia’s largest hoarding structure
T
he record for making the largest hoarding structure was set by Roshan Space Brandcom Private Limited of Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is titled as ‘Bandra Focal’ and located at Bandra Rail Over Bridge, Mumbai for the display of advertisements. The structure measures 120 ft x 122 ft in width and length respectively and 700 tons of steel was used to make it, as confirmed on December 3, 2021. The out of home (OOH) solutions brand, Roshan Space Brandcom, made history with the Bandra Focal Project – a towering 57 meters display at the W.E.H, offering unmatched visibility to premium brands. Roshan Space Brandcom Pvt Ltd has for long been connecting brands with the most effective OOH solutions. So it is only fitting that they have broken all records by launching the largest iconic OOH display in Asia, allowing brands to make a larger than life statement and put their message prominently before their audience. Titled as the ‘Bandra Focal’ project, this 120 ft x 122 ft billboard is strategically located at the beginning of the Western Express Highway, near the Bandra Rail Over Bridge in Mumbai and faces the Arabian
4
Sea. It connects the business districts of South and West Mumbai and the western suburbs with the eastern and offers a display area of 14,640 sq ft. With an aesthetic design at its core, the Bandra Focal project represents beauty in geometry and the passers by can’t miss it. As much as 700 tons of steel and 30,000 hours of work have gone into making this mammoth project a reality amidst the infamous torrential monsoon rains of Mumbai and the Covid lockdown. Talking about their latest feat, Roshan Space Brandcom Pvt Ltd’s managing director, Junaid Shaikh said, “Premium brands do not shy away from spending if the ROI (return on investment) is proportional. What we offer is unmatched in the city and country, not just from a size and stature perspective, but from a strategic location standpoint as well. The Bandra Focal project has already had several takers from diverse industries.” Shaikh further added, “Be it the launch of a new vehicle, a celebrity endorsement or a real estate advertisement, every single aspect of the visual and the messaging will be crisp and clear to the minutest detail because of
India Book of Records | March 2022
the sheer size of the display and its distinct unified design. With communication crafted for the OOH space, any brand category can reap the benefits by choosing Bandra Focal project. Several national and international brands from diverse industries including FMCG, Finance, Automobile and OTT have already partnered with us.” Bandra Focal uses advanced tech innovation to provide unmatched visibility, reach and performance tracking of advertising campaigns with technologies such as Vehicle Detection, Live Monitoring and Smart Illumination. The Vehicle Detection Technology enables brands to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns on Bandra
Focal. Onsite cameras capture every passing vehicle each day, hour and even minute, including their speed, and classify them by type so that brands know exactly how many impressions their ads get exposed to and can modify the content accordingly. The Bandra Focal Project perfectly correlates to Roshan Space Brandcom Pvt Ltd’s tagline, ‘Ideas Magnified’. It has quickly become a unique and exclusive Out of Home asset for brands looking to measure and optimize their campaigns based on real-time verified data. It is safe to conclude that measurement, data and optimisation is the future of the OOH industry which Roshan Space is fully geared up towards.
Connection with nature makes kids stronger
A
adi Anoop, a child from Ernakulam, Kerala, has received an appreciation from the India Book of Records (IBR) for his amazing memory and sharp learning skills. At the age of just 2 years and 10 months, this little boy told the names of 18 scientists along with their inventions. In addition he stunned everyone by identifying 12 national symbols, 7 days of the week, 10 space items, 8 planets, flags of 31 countries of the world, capitals of 15 countries, 53 animals, 13 types of insects, 20 species of birds, 25 fruits, 14 colors and 10 figures. His performance was confirmed by the
IBR team on 15 December, 2021. Aadi’s mother, Mrs Dhanya does social work in the United Kingdom (UK). She did her MBA from Sunderland University, UK after obtaining a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Kerala, India. The child’s father Mr Anoop, a businessman, is the founder and Managing Director of ATC Group of Companies in Kerala. Since Mr Anoop only speaks in Malayalam, we requested Aadi’s mother, Mrs Dhanya to tell more about their most talented child, who turned three years old on January 22. Mrs. Dhanya said that despite being a small kid, Aadi is quite independent by nature. He
enjoys cooking also and tries to prepare idli, dosa and toast by himself. He was ten months old when he started speaking a few words in Malayalam. As a tradition, Malayalam is spoken at their home, but Aadi now speaks in English also. He studies in nursery class in a day care centre in UK. Mrs Dhanya is very optimistic about Aadi. She does not want to make him a ‘rattu tota’. Even before becoming a successful person, she would like him to grow up to be a good person. She wants him to get good experiences in life, travel the world, see everything, and be a responsible citizen. Dhanya came to know about India Book of Records (IBR) while watching a program on TV, after which she started preparing Aadi for the big day. She wants Aadi to read a lot of books. Even now she brings him picture books and spends quality time with him. She says that every child has some special quality.
Mrs Dhanya is very optimistic about Aadi. She does not want to make him a ‘rattu tota’. Even before becoming a successful person, she would like him to grow up to be a good person.
Regarding Aadi, she said that he remembers the names even though he is not asked to do so. Whatever he hears, keeps it in his mind. He looks at everything like table, chair, hammock, toy, train, bus, thermometer and asks – who made it. Then he remembers the name and the details. Seeing the moon and stars, he learned about the planets. When the child sees birds and animals, asks questions about them and remembers everything. The mother takes him out with her to the river bank and park, where he sees nature, birds and water. “By connecting with nature, the memory of a child is sharpened and they become strong,“ adds Dhanya.

Fastest to reverse write names of all Tamil Nadu districts

India Book of Records | March 2022
T
he record of writing the names of all the districts of Tamil Nadu in reverse writing goes to M R Navajith (born on September 14, 2010) of Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, India. He wrote the names of all the 38 districts of Tamil Nadu in Tamil reverse writing in 7 minutes, 7 seconds and 4 milliseconds, as confirmed
on December 20, 2021 by the India Book of Records (IBR) team. This record also matters because it has also found a place in the Asia Book of Records (ABR). The child’s father A Raja, who is in the business of building construction, told that his son practiced for four
months during the days of Covid lockdown. At first he had to face some difficulties in writing the names of all the 38 districts of the state of Tamil Nadu in reverse order in Tamil language. There were some spelling mistakes, which were later corrected. After a lot of practice gradually, the child mastered this art and he was able to do so in a record time. For this ability, it was convenient for him to make records at both India and Asia level. He said that the family is from Kanchipuram, but currently they live in Chennai. The child loves games like Rubik’s cube, BrainVita, Marble stone and also enjoys solving the Fudaka puzzle published regularly in The Hindu newspaper. He reads story and comic books with great interest and also loves to play football. He has his own YouTube channel named Navjith Chennai in which he uploads videos of his different activities. Mother’s
name is Mrs. Meenakshi, who has done B.Com and helps the child to study. Parents dream is that one day their child will grow up to become an IAS officer. The 38 districts of Tamil Nadu are as follows: Ariyalur, Chengalpet, Chennai, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Erode, Kallakurichi, Kancheepuram, Karur, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Kanyakumari, Namakkal, Perambalur, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Ranipet, Salem, Sivagangai, Tenkasi, Thanjavur, Theni, Thiruvallur, Thiruvarur, Tuticorin, Trichirappalli, Thirunelveli, Tirupathur, Tiruppur, Tiruvannamalai, The Nilgiris, Vellore, Viluppuram and Virudhunagar. As you can see it was really a challenging task to write these names in Tamil language in reverse writing format.

A little girl with amazing observation power 8
India Book of Records | March 2022
S
adhana Panaghanti is only four years old, but her habits and intelligence are amazing. She doesn’t behave like normal kids. Instead of watching television shows, she prefers to read various picture books and her maternal uncle Aditya, who is pursuing B.Com from a college in Hubli, Karnataka, says that sometimes “she teaches us a lot of new things”, because her observation power is of super level and she concentrates even on very minute things. Sadhana’s father Mr Manjunath Panaghanti is a Civil Judge and JMFC at Raibagh in Belagavi district of Karnataka, India. Sadhana’s family is from Bhagyanagar in Koppal Taluk of Karnataka. No one in the house forces the child to study. She herself goes to her mother, father, and
sometimes maternal uncle, with different picture books. She observes everything very closely. This shows that she has a deep desire to learn various things quickly and she asks a lot of questions. Sadhana holds the record for recognizing flags of maximum countries in a minute. She was born on February 28, 2018 in Koppal, Karnataka. The kid made this record for recognizing the flags of 55 countries of the world at the age of 3 years, 7 months and 25 days only, which was confirmed by the India Book of Records (IBR) team on 23 October 2021. Aditya said that while many children start crying in the name of school, Sadhana never hesitated to go to her school. She happily goes to her school and talks about go-
ing to school even on Sundays. Her mom has to stop the child by saying, “Dear, the school is closed today and no one goes to school on a weekend.” Then she calms down and starts playing with her toys. Currently she is studying in LKG standard, but her level of curiosity is that of an older child. She asks a lot of questions and wants to know everything at once. Sadhana loves all her toys, especially the teddy bear. She always carries her teddy bear with her and takes toys with her even on the bed. She talks to the toys as if they were alive and respond to everything she tells them. Sometimes she demands her maternal uncle to bring her Cadbury chocolates, Gems and the bubbler toy. She also likes to play in the park.
Sadhana’s mother, Mrs Annapurna Panaghanti is a housewife. She has done M.Com and is from Kundagol near Hubli. She says, “Parents should never put pressure on their kids. Children should be allowed to do whatever they love to do. Just make sure they don’t get hurt or put their life at risk. Otherwise, the children should be allowed to play.” All children are special in one way or the other and when the time comes, the talents of the child start coming out. We should just watch them grow in peace. Many parents want to help their children be the best they can be. However, some parents put too much pressure on their children to perform.

caling African mountains at an extremely young age on the one hand and swimming through a specified Arabian Sea stretch with down’s syndrome on the other, is it even considered simple for normal adults? The answer would be a definite no. This is not just a case for one or two but eleven achievers of India Book of Records, who were recently awarded by none other than the Prime Minister of the country at the 73rd Republic Day ceremony held at New Delhi. The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2022 is the most prestigious award for the children category. This year, however, it was the
most exciting one for India Book of Records as 11 children were already proudly registered as record breakers with India Book of Records. Little children are little bundles of joy for most of us at most times. However, when they take up the mantle of adult ways - in their understanding and hard work, records and targets -achieved - they propel themselves far greater in the world of achievers than any adult achiever. Heartiest congratulations to our IBR winners for Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2022!!

relentless flow and dynamic shades of the artist. His father, who was his greatest evangelist, encouraged the rapper to take the bull by its horns. And the DEVIL hasn’t disappointed. The album art for the Psykalone EP has been conceptualized and created at the IncInk Art Studio by Mihir Sud and Avian D’Souza. The album art is an imagined original piece that takes inspiration from the story and artist moniker of Devil The Rhymer adding another layer to the visual narrative alongside the music visuals. The music videos for Devil The Rhymer have been co-created by filmmaker and co-founder of IncInk, Navzar Eranee, IncInk Creative Director (Art & Design) Mihir Sud and codirected by filmmaker Nisrin Aziz. ‘It’s the Devil’ is Abhay’s open letter to his mother and the first look into the artist. ‘Psykalone’ is the next step in the artist’s journey, where he is unleashing his record-breaking fury and unabashedly showcasing his skill to his naysayers and the rest of the world. Actor Ranbir Singh, co-founder of IncInk says, “There was always something special that stood out when we set our eyes on Devil The Rhymer for the first time. We knew he was gifted from the word go. To be able to incubate such special artists at IncInk was always our true intention.”
First billboards to generate solar energy for Indian Railways Z est Enterprise of Mumbai has set a record for being the first to generate maximum solar energy on advertising billboards with installations covering 11,675 sq ft spread across 17 locations to create clean renewable energy for the Indian Railways, as confirmed on January 29, 2022 by the IBR team. The project calls for 12,000 solar panel installations open for advertising that suits every brand. The renewable energy generated out of these power plants would be used by the Western Railways as part of the Phase-1 project. There will be 17 hoardings that will stand at the prime locations in Western Mumbai. For this extraordinary thought by Zest Outdoor, India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records recognised the company as ‘The first billboards to generate solar energy for Western Railways’. “Advertising itself calls for creativity and innovation. However, to come up with this massive project of using solar panels for advertising and supplying it to the Indian Railways was an arduous idea. To put this project into reality by considering all the aspects, including workforce, budget allocation, a team of engineers and contractors to brainstorm, was a matter of concern. However, the feeling of accomplishing such a huge task undermined all the obstacles,” said Mustafa Akolawala, founder, Zest Outdoor. Zest Outdoor, a division of Zest Enterprise, is a leading outdoor advertising agency focused on implementing innovative and state of the art advertising solutions. The firm has announced its novel advertising concept by launching its Green India mission with 12,000 solar panels in Mumbai that will be used for advertising. The company has been in the advertising industry for the past many years. The firm has been into multiple creative and innovative aspects until this project. This Green India mission is a benchmark in the advertising industry, being the first agency to use advertising as a medium for making India a better place to live. Establishment of the solar power units in Mumbai by Zest Outdoor paves the way for other advertising firms also to come up with revolutionary ideas that can change the nation’s future.
Billboards are a great way to advertise business for travelers on highways. But if the billboards are not lit at night, there are missed business opportunities. To light up the billboards, Zest Outdoor will purchase electricity from the electricity grid or the commercial power supply agency. The power generated by the solar panels will exclusively be given to the Western Railways, clarified Mustafa. He says that it is not necessary to install solar panels in a horizontal manner. These can be equally beneficial if installed vertically. Using solar energy for power generation is a bright idea to save the environment and to keep away the dangers of climate change. Dependency on coal for power generation is an old way of running the electricity units. Coal is not a forever fuel and burning coal also creates poisonous gases which are harmful for the environment and for human life as well. The trend of using coal for power generation is gradually going down the world over and even in our country voices of concern are being raised in support of renewable energy plants. The government has also been supporting the idea of solar panel installation on the rooftops of residential houses and commercial establishments. Solar energy is being popularized by giving subsidies to purchase or install solar power generating systems by individuals and commercial units.

This milestone has been achieved by Mrs Lalithamma from down south of India. Her highest educational qualification is a Diploma in Commercial Practice from the SJP Polytechnic. Her journey with handicrafts began initially by making incense sticks (agarbatti) boxes in the 1980s to one of the agarbatti manufacturing companies. In addition to this, she used to make hand baskets, woolen decorative items used on dining tables and main doors. Later from the year 2000, she started preparing dolls made of beads and marbles. During that time, it was just like another hobby to keep herself busy. However, as years

progressed the dolls and handicrafts started piling up and their number crossed over 2000, and as time passed by it got difficult to count the exact number of dolls as there were so many of them, which were carefully packed and stored in boxes later. The hobby that started many years ago turned her to be an achiever by holding a record for the largest collection of handmade dolls by an individual. Her dolls are in various categories that either portray the epic stories and scenarios from Hindu holy books like Mahabharatha, Ramayana, Bhakta Prahlada. a few accessories to turn it into a finished product. These accessories or items include beads, threads and doll faces. The dolls are well dressed according to the characters of Hindu Mythology with pure silk fabric material and micro jewelry, specially made for dolls. On the other hand, the preservation of the dolls is an important task and difficult also. As there is an overall collection of more than 2000 handicrafts that are made by Lalithamma, it is preserved in authentic wooden boxes to maintain the condition of the dolls. There are certain psychological benefits of creating handicrafts. It always helps to reach a high level of concentration. It can also contribute to increasing the level of patience of a person and maintaining blood pressure of the body. In the current scenario, it is becoming essential to convey the stories of Puranas and Indian culture to the younger generations. To fulfill this purpose, the dolls are displayed on festivals like Dussehra and Janmashtami every year. On these occasions, storytelling takes place about the Indian Gods, which is the biggest contribution to society. The storytelling also conveys the message about Indian culture and the history of the land. Her achievement and patience shows how dedication and interest can help reach the sky by following your passion and by loving your art form. In the end, this is the story that should knock on the doors of every house in the world. Today among those thousands of roofs in Bengaluru, Lalithamma’s house stands tall with the pride recognition and name tag of ‘Gombe Mane’ - the house of dolls. As the saying goes that age is just a number, Lalithamma continues to make dolls and display them even today. Her efforts and dedication towards preserving this age-old and traditional way of doll making is remarkable. Lalithamma got her name included in the India Book of Records for creating and displaying maximum artifacts single handedly. She displayed 2,127 self-created artefacts, verified at Cottonpet, Bengaluru, on January 19, 2022.

Fastest South to North India Expedition on an Electric Scooter
T
he trend of electric vehicles (EVs) has started in India. Organic fuels like petrol and diesel are not forever and also cause a lot of harm to the environment and human health as well. Due to this, battery operated two wheelers, three wheelers and four wheelers are gaining popularity. However, there are a few doubts among the people regarding the capacity and use of electric vehicles. To clear the doubts and create public awareness, an electric vehicle manufacturing company from Telangana, named Gravton Motors Pvt Ltd planned a nonstop

journey from Kanyakumari in South India to Khardung La in the northeast part of Ladakh, the highest motorable road in the world. The journey was completed in six and a half days on a battery operated Gravton Quanta two wheeler. In this way the company created a record and its name got included in the Asia Book of Records. The five-member relay team that created the record was led by Gravton Motors’ founder, Paka Parashuram himself. The rest of the team members included Vangla Revanth, Operations
Manager - Gravton Motors, Vangla Siddhartha, Production Manager, Gravton Motors, Sheraj, Professional Rider and Shashi Yadav, Professional Rider. Vangla Revanth said that this expedition could have been completed even in lesser time, but it was necessary to acclimatize the body before moving towards the high mountains of Ladakh, so the team had to take a short break for a few hours in Manali. Since there is a lack of Oxygen in the higher regions of the Himalayas, travellers from the plains are required to take a day’s rest. After leaving Manali in the evening, the team again had to stop at Jaspa for the night over, as traveling at night was not allowed. According to Revanth, only one Quanta bike was taken for this expedition which traveled from Kanyakumari to Khardung La, while the rest of the team members and technical staff went in three cars. The electric vehicle does not need to be
fueled, but its battery has to be charged at certain intervals. To avoid any problem of charging on the way, 15 fully charged batteries were kept for backup. The battery was changed whenever needed on the way. In this way, the record of completing the fastest relay expedition from South India to North India while riding on a single electric scooter was created. The expedition started at 7.57 PM from Kanyakumari on 13th September, 2021, which crossed 12 states and covered a distance of 4011.9 km and culminated at Khardung La situated at an altitude of 18,000 ft above sea level, on 20th September, 2021 at 4.15 PM. This is the highest motorable road in the world, which is located in Ladakh. The record was confirmed by the India Book of Records on January 10, 2022. Quanta offers a permanent mobility solution designed for Indian roads. The Quanta is not just an electric bike, it is
much more than that. It’s designed with massive 17-inch wheels and an off-roadtuned suspension that supports any rough terrain. Gravton Motors currently has a manufacturing capacity of 2000 e-bikes per month. The bike/scooter can lift a maximum load of 250 kg and gives a drive of 800 km for just Rs 80. All Quanta parts are designed, engineered and manufactured in India in tune with the Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Maximum participation in an online school quiz
T
he record for the maximum participation in an online school quiz was set by HT Media Limited, New Delhi. The online school quiz, ClassAct 2022, The Hindustan Times Republic Day Quiz, was conducted for Grades I to XII on the Quizizz platform. It was hosted by renowned Quizmasters, Dr Navin Jayakumar and Avinash Mudaliar. The quiz was unique in the sense that it established a record. ClassAct 2022 was a general knowledge quiz and the questions were not limited to India or the Republic Day, but a blend of text-based and picture-based MCQs and Fill in the Blanks. There were questions from History, Geography, Science, Language, Literature, Sports, Culture, Lifestyle, Art and Entertainment. Students were not supposed to stress over preparing for this quiz, but have a great time. The preliminary round of ClassAct 2022 commenced on January 23, 2022, and the grand finale was concluded on January 26, 2022, with a participation
of 19,625 school students, as confirmed on January 29, 2022. The quiz was recorded in the Asia Book of Records (ABR). Quizmaster Dr Jayakumar, who is an ophthalmologist by profession, says that quizzing is not just about mugging up facts, it is a sport that uses snippets of general knowledge and reasoning. Nowadays, technology has improved access to quizzing as it has broken down all physical and geographical barriers. “I have quizzed more in the last two years than I have in the last decade. Thanks to virtual quizzing, I now have quizzers from all over the world as teammates. It’s interesting to meet different people and make new friends. No matter what happens in the future, online quizzing is here to stay,” he added. Giving a few tips to the parents, Dr Jayakumar said that interest in quizzing begins with reading, and parents have a big role to play in inculcating the habit
of reading in their children. He suggested that families should make it a supper-time ritual to share interesting trivia, because it’s a great way to stay connected and updated. Another way to hone one’s quizzing skills is to participate in as many quizzes as you can and make note of the questions that you couldn’t answer. Record these questions, read up on the answer in detail and make a note so you can recall them before your next quiz. This will help students improve their knowledge greatly. Every quiz is a stepping stone towards becoming a great quizzer. Alappuzha or Alleppey is called the ‘Venice of the East’ and this district of Kerala is world famous for backwater tourism. Tourists from all over the country and abroad keep arriving here to enjoy the natural scenery in the backwaters surrounded by lush green coconut tees. Hundreds of houseboats abound in the backwaters, which are actually a revamped version of the old-timers kettuvallam. Kettuvallam is a Malayalam word, in which ‘kettu’ means living structures and ‘valom’ means boat. In
the old times, kettuvallam or thatch-roofed boat was used to transport rice and spices from one place to another. Apart from the backwaters, there is an ancient lighthouse built by the Portuguese in the 17th century, which adds to the magic of Alappuzha with its 137-year-old ghaat extending into the sea. This place is also known for its boat race, marine products and coir industry. Jiji Sibichan owns a lovely homestay ‘Mera Mann’ in this beautiful tourist town. She takes care of the guests herself in her comfortable
and attractive homestay having around seven rooms for the guests. She prepares and serves choicest food to the guests staying at the homestay. Many tourists stay in Mera Mann just because of the extra delicious food and comfortable stay. Guests often write reviews on social media praising the food prepared by Jiji. She said that one day a family from Lucknow stayed with her and kept praising the tasty food. They advised Jiji to apply in the India Book of Records in the food category. From that very day Jiji started
practicing for IBR. Finally, on February 4, 2022, her dream of setting a national record came true, when she prepared 157 recipes within 30 minutes and displayed the preparations at her homestay only. Jiji’s husband, Sibichan KJ had been serving as a subinspector in CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force). After taking voluntary retirement from the service he now helps her in running the homestay. The Sibichan couple has three children: Jason Joseph (currently in BA final year), Sanev Joseph studying in class 10 and Abiya
Joseph in class 4. Apart from Malayalam, Jiji can also speak in Hindi, which she learned during the three years stay with her husband in Lucknow, UP. She has a special passion for cooking from the very beginning and has also written 40 books on cooking in Malayalam language. A book on sewing has also been published. Jiji says that she could not succeed in television cooking reality shows but due to keeping her passion alive, she has finally made a mark in her calling. After the IBR record, her life has changed to some extent, as people in the town recognize her and come to meet her. She is filled with joy and satisfaction. The news of the record had also appeared in many local newspapers. Jiji has a message for all the women in the country that follow your passion and win the world.

When the wood arrived it came across as a daunting task to use power tools for the first time, but that didn’t stop me. I practised for long
hours documenting my work and learned on the go. What began as an experimental phase was now something I was immersed in. Thrilled with the outcome of the first piece, which was the Victorian canopy bar, soon sketches took flight and were transported into pieces inspired by nature from

storks, lobsters, fish, blue jays, roosters, grape vines, flowers and foliage and corn cobs.” She used traditional chisels and power tools, on a combination of wood, recycled as well as new ranging from teak, pine and ply, with a dint of hard work, passion and dedication. The 339 ft of carvings were completed in under 60 days, almost clocking in 16 to 18 hours a day. A Herculean task for someone who had no prior knowledge about carving on wood or the challenges it would pose. Soon large pieces of furniture came to life, the family ballroom and formal dining area soon began to transform. Rangoli with Karate: A unique performance of girls
S
ensei Ashish Shivnarayan Srivas, a well-known Karate instructor from Maharashtra, is a Black Belt 4 degrees holder, who has passed the Judging Exam also. In martial arts, Sensei means a teacher. Sensei Ashish has been into Karate for past 33 years. He regularly organizes training camps in various schools. For the initial 15 years, Ashish kept learning the basics of this martial art himself, then started coaching some 20 years ago. Who can understand better than the 47-years-old Ashish the value of something heard on the radio. On October 24, 2021, Ashish was listening to the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ broadcast by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the radio. Since the festival of Diwali was around the corner, the Prime Minister referred to Rangoli and said that it represented Indian culture. Various shapes and designs made in Rangoli depict the civilization and culture of different parts of the nation.
34
Along with this, the PM also appealed to the listeners to take Rangoli forward as a cultural movement. This message went home in Ashish’s mind and all the times he was thinking of Rangoli. That’s when he got a bright idea that why not mix Rangoli with Karate and do a mega event. To give concrete shape to the idea, he conceived an event called ‘Rangoli with Karate’ which not only became a big success, but also became a part of the Asia Book of Records (ABR). Ashish was joined by Ms Madhuri Satish Suda (50) in this project and made ‘Rangoli with Karate’ successful with the help of a group of girls. This unique demonstration of Karate along with Rangoli making concluded on 8th January, 2022 at Pannalal Nagar Ground in Amravati, Maharashtra. The event established a record! Ashish said that in this event, which took place in the midst of the third wave of Corona, all the Covid guidelines were fol-

lowed properly. The participating students and coaches put on masks, used sanitizers frequently and tried to maintain physical distance with each other. The whole program was divided into two parts of Rangoli and Karate, for which two groups of 14 girls each were formed. One group used to make Rangoli, while the other was performing Karate. After some time their roles would change and the team with Rangoli started performing Karate, while the Karate team started making Rangoli. Around 700 kg of colours were used to make Rangoli. The Rangoli was made on a large open ground and it featured symbols such as the logos of the World Karate Federation, India Karate Federation, a girl holding the tricolor and the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav etc. The entire show lasted for 2 hours and 43 minutes.
Ashish said that before the main performance, the students practiced for Rangoli making everyday for 15 days. The commentary of the event continued in the background. The basics of Karate, self-defense techniques and sports fight were the forms included in the show. The message of the show was that along with understanding the Indian culture, girls should also learn self-defense techniques so that they can defend themselves in any untoward situation. For this, girls should practice Karate along with Rangoli. Ashish gives Karate training every day and his students have a large number of girls. One of her students – Priyanshi Srivas is 7 years old, who was the youngest student in the performance. Ashish wants the government to make self-defense training to the girls compulsory in the schools.

She said that after marriage in the year 2013, she had to quit her job at IBM and shifted to her husband’s house in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. She said that her son likes GK and daughter likes to draw pictures. Daughter studies in first grade. She enjoys reading a variety of books. When she was two years old only, she got an award for giving a short speech in the school. At that time she was in Pre KG. Mrs. Nishanti enjoys spending time on social media, from where she gets a lot of new information. Once she watched some interesting videos on YouTube and Facebook, then she came to know about India Book of Records (IBR). Since then, she had started preparing the child, thinking that one day she would also get featured in the IBR record book. After getting the appreciation from IBR, she now aspires to get a record made for Asia
Book of Records (ABR). And after that she wants the children’s names to appear in the Guinness Book of World Records also. She says that every child is talented. It just takes some time to get the right upbringing and opportunity. Parents should inculcate the habit of reading as much as possible in their children. Whether they read fiction or nonfiction books or newspapers, it doesn’t matter, just reading should be a permanent habit, that is most important. She herself reads an English newspaper regularly at home, from where she gets the latest information about the country and the world. The DM of the district has also honored their children.
