Millions of devotees (Warkaris or Waari Yatris) walk barefoot to the temple town of Pandharpur in Maharashtra every year on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadasi to have a glimpse of the deity of Hindu God Lord Vitthal. The 20-day annual pilgrimage is called Pandharpur Ashadhi Ekadasi Wari Yatra, wherein devotees complete the holy yatra bare-foot, causing immense pain and discomfort to their feet and body. Ayurvedic products company, Dabur India Ltd. offered free foot massages to the maximum number of tired devotees, thus creating a

The record-making attempt was performed by a team of 24 men and 12 women, giving foot massages to a total of 1664 devotees of Pandharpur Wari on July 7, 2022. This traditional yatra is more than 700 to 800 years old. This year, around 2.5 million pilgrims were expected to join this religious procession on foot during Ashadhi Ekadashi (June 21 to July 10, 2022), however, the actual number of devotees turned out to be four

Under this social initiative, Ayurvedic doctors were stationed at the health checkup camps, offering curative, preventive, and promotive healthcare services to the millions of pilgrims during the procession. Wari Yatra of pilgrims culminates at Pandharpur in Solapur district in south Maharashtra situated on the banks of the Chandrbhaga river. Pandharpur is the main center of worship of the deity Lord Vitthal.

Mukherjee further added that being it any yatra or festival related to Indian traditions, Dabur India always reaches to its audience to rejuvenate them from the tiring journey, from Vaishno Devi to Thaipusam, and from Kamakhya Devi to Kanwad Yatra in Haridwar or elsewhere in the country. The detailed videos of the social and charitable acts of the company are posted on the Dabur Arogya Youtube channel from time to time. times more. Most of the devotees belong to the above 50 years of age category, who are liable for joint pains and leg aches. The Dabur volunteers approached the devotees en route to the yatra and provided them free foot massages through a combination of hand and foot massaging machines.

“We are happy to share that Dabur Rheumatil has entered the India and Asia Book of Records for conducting the highest number of massages in a particular time frame at a particular place. The devotees of Pandharpur Wari were given foot massages using Dabur Rheumatil oil and spray. The attempt was performed as a part of a campaign ‘Chalte Raho - Keep Walking Pain-Free’ at Bhandishegaon, Pandharpur, Maharashtra,” said Suman Mukherjee, Senior Manager, Dabur India Ltd.

“With our strong 138-year-old heritage, we feel privileged to take care and make elaborate arrangements for the movement of Warkaris during the yatra. This unique initiative seeks to ensure a safe journey and effective healthcare for the

The awareness drive was conducted in 71 cities including Agra, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Pune, Udaipur, Varanasi, etc. A total of 308 neurologists participated in the campaign by giving their interviews, thoughts, messages, and tips around the disease. These messages were broadcasted by some leading radio channels of the country spreading the word to make common people aware of this condition.

Ms. Nisha Ravindran, Marketing Manager, Sun Pharma Laboratories Limited, Mumbai, played a crucial role in this record-making pan-India neuropathy campaign.

TheMumbai.awareness campaign was carried out for four days starting on May 10, 2022. The messages and talks by the local neurology doctors were broadcasted on leading radio platforms across the nation on the occasion of Neuropathy Awareness Week. The dual achievement got a place in the India Book of Records (IBR) and Asia Book of Records (ABR) simultaneously.

The National Neuropathy Awareness Week is celebrated between May 4 to 10 every year. This is a period dedicated to spreading awareness of the detrimental condition known as neuropathy, which is a complication that leads to damage or disability in nerves. Patients who suffer from this disease, which is also occasionally referred to as peripheral neuropathy, may experience numbness, muscle weakness, or pain in various areas of the body.

to enhanced and effective treatment. Peripheral neuropathy results from damage to peripheral nerves, and thus, there are a variety of causes. Typically, neuropathy could occur and develop in patients as a result of any of some problems like injuries, infections, metabolic issues, diabetes (most common cause), alcoholism, or certain type of cancers. The symptoms commonly associated with peripheral neuropathy may include stabbing pain, burning or tingling sensations, weakness, or numbness in the affected areas, usually the hands and feet.

The doctors opined in the radio talks that there is no clear and concise treatment available for peripheral neuropathy disease. However, if there is an underlying cause that can be treated, may help to alleviate symptoms. For others, some measures can be taken to help reduce the symptoms producing pain and hopefully get the patient back to comfortable living. Some preventative measures may include a healthy lifestyle, as most peripheral neuropathy cases result from diabetes or healthrelated complications. Eating right and consistently exercising are a few steps that will only improve the chances of preventing the conditions’ development in the patient.

Kamraj, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, passed away in 1975, his impact is still visible. Keeping his dreams and ideologies in mind, 4656 students in the same school, where the leader had studied, impersonated Thiru K Kamaraj, took out a procession around the town and garlanded the statue of the leader on July 15, 2022.

Selvi Revathi told India Book of Records e-Magazine that the educational institution started in 1889 under the name of Hindu Primary School, bears another special name - Pidi Arisi Palli. It was called so because a palmful of rice was collected from the Virudhunagar households every day as a donation to run the school. Because of the strenuous and untiring efforts of the KVS Managing Board, the base of the institution has been rooted strong and it has now been extended into 8 branches throughout Virudhunagar town.

Thiru K. Kamaraj, born on July 15, 1903, started his primary education in this ‘Pidi Arisi Palli’ in Virudhupatti (old name of Virudhunagar). He showed a lot of interest in the meetings and adventures regarding the fight for independence and the struggle for freedom. The fact about the gradual growth of the institution and the motto of free education to all given by the school was deeply rooted in the heart of Thiru Kamaraj to the extent that he introduced free education and

poet Subramanya Bharathi – ‘Punniyam Kodi Aangor Eazhaiku Eluthu Arivithal’ as its motto, which means giving education to the poor is a real act of charity. Based on these words as a mantra, the institution is giving education to all, and knowledge has been spread everywhere widening the intellectual horizon.Leader

On January 30, 1956, as a Chief Minister, Thiru Kamaraj opened the High School building of the same school, where he studied and became a role model for the people of Virudhunagar. On October 19, 1964, the KVS Managing Board members started a school in the name of Thiru K. Kamaraj on the occasion of Coral Jubilee.

Utkarsh said that a blockchain is a distributed, decentralized, and public database that exists on a network, which uses cryptographic methods for security. The data is stored in blocks linked together by cryptography, securing information using mathematical concepts and algorithms to transform messages in a way difficult to decipher. Data is filled in a block and after it is filled, a new block is used which is chained to a previously filled block. There are several applications of blockchain and it can replace the existing software in many places as it is more optimized. One commonly known application of blockchain is cryptocurrency.Blockchainissaid to be a digital stone, i.e. information written on the blockchain can never be edited or changed again. This makes it unique and secure, and it is the perfect tool for a web-based voting system. The new prototype is a voting system where users can create an election, start and end the election, and view the results. The whole election process can be seen on the blockchain, but no one can know who voted for whom. Votes can’t be undone, can’t be modified, even by the group administrator. India Book of Records associated with IIT project on secure voting system and encouraged the future technological system of voting – that might someday be used in future times.

record for the use of Blockchain Software for Student Body Election was set by CFI Web Ops and Blockchain Club, IIT Madras, wherein students used a blockchain software methodology to conduct the election. The election was held amongst a student body of 27 voters, creating a new record under the India Book of Records.

Utkarsh Kumar told the India Book of Records, “We used blockchain technology at the backend for accurate voting, as it is economical and decentralized. It is not easy to hack it and this method is more reliable. It was the first phase of the system, while in the next phase it will be possible to vote through mobile phones, and then 10,000 students will also be able to vote.”

The current system either relies upon a paper ballot or a voting machine. A paper ballot usually requires more time to count and can be tampered with in certain situations. There have been situations and cases where a question on the credibility of EVM has been raised and shown that EVMs can be tampered with. This is a serious cause of concern for a democracy that completely relies upon voting. A team of students of the IIT Madras proposed a blockchain-based voting system and demonstrated that it was more secure than the usual voting system.Teamleader,

In developing the voting system, Utkarsh was supported by another senior Rutuj Dodal, and a team of three junior students: Anirudh Verma, Devansh Saini, and Karthik Sriram. Utkarsh is a final year student of MTech in Mechanical Engineering stream at IIT Madras under the Dual Degree System, while Rutuj is a student of Civil Engineering. Utkarsh and Rutuj head the Blockchain Club and played the techno-managerial role. The entire project cost them hardly a few hundred rupees. The student union elections in the institute are held in two rounds. In the first round, all students vote and elect members of the Student Legislative Council (SLC), who in the final round elect the executive body.

However, it was not counted as ingredients, because these two are considered to add taste and dilution.”

Mojito is a traditional Cuban highball. The cocktail often consists of five ingredients - white rum, sugar (traditionally sugar cane juice), lime juice, soda water, and mint. Its combination of sweetness, citrus, and herbaceous mint flavors is intended

The record for the biggest cocktail was made and distributed by Biergarten Whitefield Restaurant in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on July 23, 2022. The attempt performed by Kiran Kuberan, the Head Mixologist of the outlet, brought the restaurant name to the glorious pages of the India Book of KiranRecords.Kuberan, the dynamic bar manager, told India Book of Records, “For the 6th anniversary of our restaurant - Biergarten Whitefield, we decided to produce India’s largest 50-liter Mojito Cocktail and offered it to the visitors for the price of Rs 6 only.

to complement the rum and has made the Mojito a popular summer drink. When preparing a Mojito, fresh lime juice is added to sugar (or simple syrup) and mint leaves. The mixture is then gently mashed with a muddler. The mint leaves are bruised to release the essential oils. Then rum is added and the mixture is briefly stirred to dissolve the sugar and to lift the mint leaves up from the bottom for better presentation. Finally, the drink is topped with crushed ice and sparkling soda water. Mint leaves and lime wedges are used to garnish the glass. The Mojito is one of the most famous rum-based highballs. Kiran Kuberan, who made this record possible, has over 11 years of experience in the business of restaurant and bar management. He got the Best Emerging Mixologist of the Year award in 2021, besides winning many competitions. Having worked with several five-star hotels including Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove Seychelles, and Four Points by Sheraton Bengaluru, he is a master bartender. Currently, he is serving at Biergarten Brewery & Kitchen, Bengaluru as the Head Mixologist. Preparing Cocktails is his passion.

He tells us that Havana, Cuba, is the birthplace of the mojito, although its exact origin is the subject of debate. It was known that the local South American Indians had remedies for various tropical illnesses, so a small boarding party went ashore in Cuba and came back with ingredients for effective medicine. It is interesting to know that mojito was a favorite drink of author Ernest Hemingway. A survey by an international market research company found that in 2016 the mojito was the most popular cocktail in Britain and France.

The Group Landmark Volkswagen dealership network in the vibrant state of Gujarat created history by selling and delivering the maximum number of single model Volkswagen cars in a single day. In the process, the dealership created two records getting its name marked in the pages of Asia Book of

Records (ABR) and India Book of Records (IBR) simultaneously. This remarkable achievement took place on June 21, 2022. A total number of 160 newly launched Volkswagen Virtus cars were delivered across the state.

13India Book of Records | September 2022

Commenting on the stellar achievement, Sanjay Thakker, Chairman and Founder, Group Landmark, said, “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this honour from India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records. The new record is a testament to not only Group Landmark’s expansive network, but also the delightful customer experiences the brand promises and continues to deliver. The achievement also serves to demonstrate the high demand that the new Volkswagen sedan has received from the get go.” He added, “As we go forward, our customers can be certain that Group Landmark will continue to be the premier one-stop destination for their car-buying needs.”Garima

We were certain that Volkswagen Virtus was destined to be a hit in the market and the immense response we have received for the sedan has served to prove that. The fact that Group Landmark’s name is now registered in the IBR and ABR is an incredible honour to our establishment.

Group Landmark, the largest luxury and premium car dealership network in India, opened its first dealership in 1998, and has, since then, expanded its network to include 115 outlets across eight states, operating showrooms for top-tier brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Honda, Jeep, Renault, and BYD. The company treads beyond the realm of run-of-the-mill automotive dealerships to offer customers unparalleled buying experiences from start to finish. The promise of such novel experiences are backed by Group Landmark’s robust presence across the automotive retail value chain, which includes myriad services besides sales of new vehicles, such as after-sales service sales of pre-owned passenger vehicles and third-party financial and insurance products.

Misra, Managing Director, Group Landmark, added, “We were certain that Volkswagen Virtus was destined to be a hit in the market and the immense response we have received for the sedan has served to prove that. The fact that Group Landmark’s name is now registered in the IBR and ABR is an incredible honour to our establishment.”

Virtus deliveries across the dealerships started on the longest day of the year, i.e. June, 21. We were getting orders for prelaunch bookings weeks in advance. This magic happened as the company had created a lot of buzz around the new vehicle highlighting its unique features.”

Darshan Sundavadra of the Group Landmark Volkswagen, said, “When we applied for the record – we were going to deliver 160 cars in Gujarat. But on June 21, we got more customers to deliver extra 5 cars. So finally we delivered 165 cars in Gujarat, and 185 in total including our Delhi dealership. Volkswagen

The company was honoured at a ceremony, when IBR and ABR officials handed over the certificates for the record to Group Landmark’s managing director Garima Misra. On the first day of deliveries, the company delivered 165 units of the made in India sedan across Gujarat, thus securing its name in the history.

Udhna

This important task of making the environment of the railway station pleasant has been done by Viral Desai, a 43-year-old entrepreneur from Surat, through his NGO Hearts at Work Foundation. Viral owns an MSME project named Genetex Textiles in Surat, which has already received the Energy Conservation Award. His NGO continues to do many works of public interest. Some time ago, free camps for breast cancer screening were organized through this foundation. Along with this, camps were also organized for oral cancer screening.

railway station located in the Surat district of Gujarat has got a place in the India Book of Records as the first green railway station in the country. Trees have been planted in the name of 40 martyrs of Pulwama at Udhna station. In addition, a forest has been created with the help of 1500 trees in an area of 19,000 square feet. This forest area can supply enough oxygen for up to 2 lakh people around. Due to the abundance of greenery, the temperature of the railway station remains two degrees below normal.

A green gallery with about 50 paintings has been set up at the railway station, which gives the message of environmental protection to the 16,000 commuters who pass through it every day. The station complex has an urban forest area designed in the Miyawaki style of Japan, named the Martyr Memorial Forest. In the year 2019, several projects of environmental protection were carried out in different phases at Udhna station. The Station has been attracting the attention of international-level organizations for the last many years.

Viral Desai told the India Book of Records that Canada has 10,000 trees per capita, while India has only 28 trees per capita, indicating a wide gap. He has planted more than one lakh trees so far. Plants are grown on the premises of his factory by keeping them in sacks filled with soil and they are planted at other places as per the requirement. His target is to plant 10 million saplings in the future. For this reason, he is affectionately called a Greenman.

The United Nations Ecosystem Restoration and Climate Action Plan were announced in June 2021. In this, there is a provision to create a new ecosystem to provide new life to the trees and animals that have been ruined in the name of development works. Due to the massive plantation at Udhna railway station, living beings like sparrows, squirrels, and butterflies have started returning. This effort is called restoration. On the other hand, efforts have been made to reduce pollution in this area surrounded by factories, which is a proper step under climate action.

The prestigious India Book of Records has awarded the title of Green Railway Station to Udhna for taking Ecosystem Restoration and Climate Action and recognized Viral Desai’s record. With this, Udhna has become the first railway station in the country, which is inching towards mitigating the effects of climate change. Udhna station has now become a brand in terms of cleanliness and environmental protection. A sparrow zone of 400 birds has been created in the forest, where the nests are specially set up to attract sparrows.

9-yr-old boy with the longest hair

Ayaan was born on May 10, 2013, in a Sikh family. When the child was in the first grade, he did not like to tie the patka (scarf) on his head. He used to have a pony. Seeing his unusually long hair, his classmates started teasing him by calling him a girl. Then the boy insisted on tying a patka before going to school. Now the child is studying in fourth grade.

16 India Book of Records | September 2022

Ayaan’s mother, Jasim Singh is from an army background and she is an expert in nutrition and fitness. In her spare time, she serves as an Integrated Health Coach. His father, Amandeep Singh is the CEO of West and East India at Godrej Properties.

Have you ever seen a child whose hair is long enough to touch his feet? There is a boy in Mumbai, Maharashtra whose height is 4 feet 4 inches and his hair is of the same length. When this child’s hair length was measured on July 23, 2022, his age was 9 years, 2 months, and 13 days. His hair was found to be 138 cm (54 inches) long. Ayaan Grover’s name has been added to the India Book of Records for this unique feature.

He has to travel a lot in connection with work. In such a situation, the responsibility of taking care of Ayaan mainly rests with the mother. However, the boy gets his hair washed by his father only. His reasoning, in this case, is also noteworthy. He says that Mummy’s hair is short (only up to the shoulder), while Papa’s hair is long, so Papa certainly knows more about hair care.Ayaan washes his hair only once a week on Sundays as it takes at least 4-5 hours to manage and dry them. It is difficult to find that much time on weekdays. Normal shampoo and conditioner

are used to wash the hair. If for some reason the hair is not washed, then he has to wait for the next Sunday. Long hair often gets tangled or knotted up, which requires a softener to fix it.

Jasim told the India Book of Records that the weather in Mumbai remains humid, due to which Ayaan’s hair gets wet with sweat while playing outdoors. Since it is not possible to wash the hair every day, they use a hairdryer. Ayaan spends 10 minutes getting ready for school, while it takes 20 minutes to fix his hair.

Ayaan is of talkative nature, so he gets along with people of all ages. He likes to make new friends. He is good at studies but makes a lot of fuss about having lunch or dinner. Mother says that whatever is packed in his tiffin box for school, comes back as it is. On the contrary, he likes junk food instead of normal lunch. His younger sister Diyara is 3 years old. Grandparents visit Mumbai three-four times a year, then both the children spend time with them and listen to a lot of stories.

This project has three phases. The first phase of the charitable act consisted of collecting necessary funds. Doing all this to empower the underprivileged women in rural parts of the country. The project further aims to strengthen the small self-help groups (Bachatgat) in several villages around Pune city. The project was widely supported and appreciated by all Rotarians and Rotaractors around the globe. Youngest Diploma holder in Drawing & Painting

Shiven

His mother, Aparna Sidharth told India Book of Records, “We were happy that our 7-year-old son was happily engaged and was on an upward learning curve, despite the Covid restrictions. Assignment after assignment, Shiven’s confidence kept growing. Be it his class 2 school exams or vocal exams or his Olympiads, Shiven kept studying art, for almost 5 days a week. It was in February 2021 when he announced that he was starting the study of his last and the most difficult unit. It struck everyone that he was almost towards the end of the course. And then, on 2021, it was done. Shiven not only finished his Diploma syllabus and assignments but also completed the course in less than a year. And he did it with Distinction. London Art College further nominated him as a young achiever. The Association of Distance Learning Colleges, UK, awarded him the Merit Certificate.”

Shiven made a record by being the youngest Diploma holder in Drawing and Painting at the age of 8 years, 1 month, and 2 days on May 17, 2021. Thus, he got his name registered on the

Sidharth, a boy from Delhi, started drawing and painting at the age of 4 years. In a year he was comfortable with the brush and started trying out acrylic alongside watercolors. Since childhood, he has had a great interest in arts and music. He was 5 years old when he first attended a concert by Ustad Zakir Hussain at the Qutub Minar campus. He was so impressed that he created Zakir Hussain’s painting. Later he got the opportunity and approval to present the painting to Ustad Zakir Hussain personally at another concert ‘Smaran’ organized by Shri Ram Group in association with Spic Macay in Delhi. This concert was to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of Pandit Ravi Shankar. Zakir Hussain appreciated Shiven’s artwork a lot and graciously accepted it.

Shiven was drawing well for his age group, so his parents started looking for a more professional and structured course that would help him evolve, upskill and enrich his art. They promptly enrolled him in the London Art College. The course units and study material looked very comprehensive and the family was confident that it would provide Shiven with the much-needed exposure to a variety of mediums and tools. He really had a great experience exploring various mediums such as graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, pen, ink, watercolors, acrylic, and oil paints. He was creating artwork using a nib, brush, knife, and even a comb. It challenged his existing notions about art while constantly stimulating his creativity.

was Shiven’s art journey. His parents realized that while staying indoors, art was a healthy engagement for the child to pursue.

“Rudhva observes even the smallest details in the house. If anything is misplaced he will be the first to notice it. He reached all his milestones ahead and started to show interest in learning new things and exploring the world around him. So we have provided him with multiple activities such as solving puzzles, finger painting, messy play in the kitchen, playing football, showing flashcards, watering plants, etc,” added Vidhya.

One of Rudhva’s favorite activities is learning from flashcards. His mother engages him in the flashcard activity for 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes in the evening. “One day when I and my child were doing role play, he played the mommy role and I played as a child; he surprised me by recalling what all we taught him since that time with accuracy. After that, we exposed him to Asian flags and taught him about

Vidhya is a happy stay-at-home mother who holds a master’s degree in engineering with a gold medal. She is the primary caretaker of the child. She explains that Rudhva surprised her on many occasions when he was just an infant. Rudhva’s observation and the way he raises questions keep her amazed. When he was 1 year old, she explained to him about rainfall. The next day when she was watering the plants, he put the hose up and said - “Amma rain is coming, bring the umbrella.” In another incident, when the family was traveling in a car he saw another car and asked“Amma who is driving the red car?” She playfully answered

The child has already made another record in a similar category with the Asia Book of Records also. Previously, in the month of June 2022, he got appreciation from the India Book of Records for reciting and identifying flashcards under various topics such as famous places, personalities, nature, and action words, to name a few.

Rudhva’s mother, Vidhya Balaji says, “As parents, our motto is to raise a happy child. We always believe that any child with a pleasant mindset can reach great heights. We just gave our toddler the required exposure to various things and complete freedom to explore them. As a family, we believe that play is the work of childhood. His father and grandfather run a CA firm in Vellore. Even in their busy schedule, they take the child outdoors every day since he loves traveling. His father, Balaji, gives ears to even the silliest question of the child and answers him with dedication. His maternal grandfather spends quality time with the child for the outdoor activities on the weekends. His grandma never fails to tell stories to the child every day.”

Rohtash told the India Book of Records, “My next most ambitious goal is to climb Mount Everest once again and fly the Tiranga there for 24 hours. To achieve this extremely difficult goal, I set out on a solo expedition to prepare myself physically and mentally and to enhance my ability to spend 24 hours alone on the highest mountain peaks of all continents. I know the task is very difficult and there is a 0.01% chance of returning alive after spending 24 hours on Everest, yet I would love to do it, because I don’t climb mountains to die, but die to climb. If I could stay on Everest for 24 hours, I would be the first person in the world to do so.”

Being a pure vegetarian, he faces challenges in finding food and drinks of choice abroad, especially in the mountains. That’s why he always carries khoya barfi, dry fruits, and chocolates with him. To boost his willpower, he meditates from 2 to 3 o’clock at the night. He has a social motive behind climbing the mountains. Being from the Bishnoi community, he wants to create awareness to protect the trees and animals.

Mount Friendship Peak (October 9, 2020), and Mount Moon Peak (November 1, 2020). Rohtash stepped into the field of mountaineering on April 29, 2017. He got the training from Jawahar Mountaineering Institute in Jammu & Kashmir. There he met Ashok Shukla of the 6th Para Commando Unit of the Indian Army, whom he still considers his mentor. Rohtash had got an offer to join the Armed Forces, which he turned down because of his mission to hoist the Tiranga on Mount Everest for 24 hours.

Rohtash started his career in sports by winning a silver medal at the National Taekwondo Championship in 2014. He is the first mountaineer in the world to spend 24 hours atop Mount Kilimanjaro. Also, he is the first Indian to reach Russia’s highest mountain peak Mount Elbrus on September 4, 2018, and February 2, 2020, in the winter and summer seasons. Rohtash last scaled Mount Everest on May 16, 2018, and was invited to participate in the popular TV programme, The Kapil Sharma Show for this feat.

This young man with amazing willpower has scaled Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, which is 5,895 meters above sea level. He hoisted India’s national flag on its peak for 24 hours, thus setting a record for the longest stay there, getting his name registered in the prestigious India Book of Records. Shruti believes that patience is the most important quality for a parent to raise a child properly. Children are inquisitive by nature and they want to understand and do everything in their own way. Sometimes children insist to try something new. In such a situation, instead of getting angry, it becomes necessary to listen to the child with patience and act accordingly. Dakshith asks a lot of questions, which is a good sign. Only an intelligent child tries to know everything. “We will have to change our town for the child’s schooling, but we are happily ready to do so. We are grateful to the India Book of Records for recognizing the child’s abilities,” she added.

Sahu, a 2-year and 4-month-old child from Boudh district in Odisha, takes an immense interest in learning new words fast. He is more inquisitive than normal kids of his age. He wants to know about everything around him. When his father, Debananda Sahu (31) learned from somewhere that a child in Odisha’s Balangir district had set a record in the field of general knowledge, he began to pay more attention to Dakshith’s learning capabilities. Finally, on July 15, 2022, the moment came when the India Book of Records team informed him that Dakshith had been selected for the Appreciation Certificate. The child successfully recalled 5 national symbols, the English alphabet, counting from 1 to 10, 1 Hindi and 2 English rhymes, 1 Sanskrit shloka, 7 vegetables, 8 fruits, 10 vehicles, 10 body parts, and answered 4 GK-related questions.

His father Debananda runs a rice mill in Kulutjor Panchayat. Apart from this, he also owns a motorcycle dealership in the nearby town of Ghantapara. His mother Shruti Sahu is a graduate who takes care of the house and child. Both have brought several picture books to enhance the child’s knowledge, by showing him various fruits, vegetables, birds, and animals. The child speaks in Sambalpuri, which is a form of the Oriya Grandparentslanguage.alsolive in the house. The grandmother is 55 years old and she narrates short stories of kings and fairies to the child. She also recites him Sanskrit shlokas and mantras. Grandfather takes him out for a ride in the car. The child pays so much attention to everything that just by hearing the sound of the engine, he can tell whether the car coming out is that of his father or grandfather. As soon as the car stops, he insists to go for a ride. The family is in business, but everyone in the house believes that Dakshith will be allowed to do whatever he wants to do

when he grows up. Nothing will be forced on him. The family is already so concerned about the child’s education that the parents are planning to move to a new home in another town for his schooling. Father is willing to drive a few hundred kilometers to the rice mill every day.

When he was around 1.5 years, one day a newspaper was kept by his side, and he started identifying the capital English alphabets written on it all by himself. His mother does a nighttime prayer and used to recite it in front of him, he learnt the entire 4-line Hindi prayer. One day, when he was around 2 years old, started reciting the prayer at night all by himself. He is fascinated by superheroes characters. When he was around 1.5 years, he often identified everyone with the superhero characters by matching their outfit colours with that of superheroes, like green with the hulk.

Yash has a morning routine of going to the park with his father for 1-hour where he observes nature, and what other life forms are doing, like ants going in a row, butterflies flying, leaves falling on the ground, slogans written on placards, etc. He often questions why is this happening or what is this. Parents try to give him simple answers which he can understand.

Dr Shuchi said that they have bought over 200 books of different categories, like big and small picture board books, touch and feel books, pop-up books, push and slide books, cutout books, sound books, and simple story books. They first purchased ‘My First Library’ for Yash, which has 12 small picture board books in different categories. He learnt a lot from that and happily clapped when saw anything similar in the real world. The Solar System books and a 3D solar system gave him a better understanding of the solar system. “We show him the night sky so that he can understand more about stars and different phases of the moon. We also took him to the planetarium and to the Science City. We often take him to temples, mosques, churches and amusement parks. However, we avoid taking him to malls and cinema multiplexes,” she added.
