Let your story inspire the world! It’s been exactly a year since India came to a standstill, most of the activities halted, and people stayed indoors. But it is the Indian record-holders who chose to continue their passion for achieving a new milestone and created proportionately more records than any year in the history of record making. To match the spirit of the Indian record-holders, we decided to start a monthly E-Magazine called - India Book of Records Monthly, in addition to our iconic annual edition of the India Book of Records.

7

Now, it is your chance to peek into the world of record making and get inspired to reach new heights and get equipped with all the techniques, tools, and motivation to be an Indian record‑holder.

A Poetess at Heart

and Bibliophile by Nature

By Sanjana Bhowmick

Amana of Bengaluru set a record of being the youngest poetess. She wrote 61 poems, which were published in a book titled ‘Echoes of Soulful Poems’ by Sapna Book House, at the age of 13 years. IBR talks to this young poetess. mana describes herself as a thirteen-year-old chirpy, curious poet who writes as an alternate to talking given to her introverted nature. Studying in grade 8, she is a bibliophile who has read 600 plus books. Apart from poems, she loves good music and food. Her writing journey started during the first lockdown in 2020. Amana’s poems don’t belong to any particular genre but revolve around her experi-

ences, thoughts, and moods. She draws inspiration from incidents of indifference or injustice, rain if it’s a monsoon evening, or even peace when calm and composed. The majority of her works involve random musings or deep ruminations. Talking about her inspiration, Amana says, “I get inspired from books I read, events I witness, experiences I go through, thoughts that pop it, places I visit, or even people I meet. Everyone and everything seems an inspiration

if you are keen on drawing inspiration for your task.” “I would like to thank my parents, who have been the lampposts of my journey and the ever-abiding silent shadows. Had it not been my mom, I wouldn’t have been writing this here. She is the one who follows up on editing and manages publication,” says Amana. Amana shares a few tips for all the aspiring poets says, “Be patient, consistent, and keep

learning. Neither let success hit you, neither failures get you. Keep reading and write as though you are not writing for accolades but yourself as a mode of expressing. Stay humble and work hard.” Working on her next anthology of poems, she aspires to become an IAS or a cardiologist in the Army but wants to continue writing all her life.

‘You all are good dancers and performers for me, but I will accept you as an ‘artist’ only if you do something for the society and world’.

Coming from a family full of artists, Haritha got exposed to various art forms and creativity from her childhood. Her art-loving parents were a constant source of inspiration and encouragement. As an artist, she first scouts for a social cause she relates with, and then starts the research process. Scriptwriting follows, post good research, and sessions with the lyricist begin for the music composition. And then Haritha begins her choreography. For her next dance recital, Haritha is working on the theme of Islam. She believes that there is a lot of controversy surrounding this religion and people following Islam tend to move away from the field of Arts. The dance recital will be based on Quran.

Talking about her inspiration, Haritha says, “In one of his speeches, Mr. Soorya Krishnamurthy said that, ‘You all are good dancers and performers for me, but I will accept you as an ‘artist’ only if you do something for the society and world’. These words are my true inspiration, and I feel blessed to get a call from him to perform for one of the biggest art festivals, the ‘Soorya Festival’.” She composes her dance recitals. Initially, her works were choreographed by her mother, Guru Dr.Kalamandalam Latha Edavalath, and her aunt Guru Kalakshetra Vidyalakshmi. And from her father, Thamban Kambrath, she learned to direct the themes using dramatic techniques, more simply so that everyone can understand the theme easily.

A

student of M.Com. Saurabh has a keen interest in various kinds of art forms. His art forms were also acknowledged and appreciated by the Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Saurabh wanted to create a new art form to promote recycling and reuse of materials that emphasized creativity and innovation. “I was inspired by the 3D art form and collected the waste materials partly from an electronic repairing shop and some from my storeroom. These are all different parts of unused electronic items like motherboards, mobile phones, television, calculators, etc. This was my first visual 3D artwork

hence I was a little nervous and apprehensive while making the artwork,” says Saurabh. Making the artwork was not an easy task. Saurabh faced problems while cutting the electronics parts into particular shapes as he didn’t have proper cutting tools, as it was his first attempt. After a month-long of planning, it took him five days to give shape to the 3D art. Talking about his choice of Subhas Chandra Bose, he says, “This artwork is a tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, chose him because he is the most influential freedom fighter with extraordinary leadership skills and a charismatic orator. He continues to be a symbol of assertive nationalism. He played a crucial role in freeing the country from the clutches of 200 years of British rule in his inimitable way, much like the other leading lights of the day, such as Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru.” None of this would have been possible without the support of his family, who constantly motivate him to do creative and innovative works. In the future, Saurabh aims to represent India globally with his artwork.

ara Ishana of Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, is appreciated for identifying the flags of all countries. She picked up the correct flags of 195 countries (continent-wise by their names) at the age of 1 year and 7 months. IBR talks to her parents to know a little more about the toddler.

#1.  Tell

kid?

us something about your

As a parent, it’s indeed a pleasure to make explicit elucidation to describe our child; there are myriad of motley things to love about our child, from the things she says to the activities she does. She is a blend of intellectual, ingenious in grasping, diligent explorer, impressive in erudition with a dazzling demeanour.

#2.  What

was the thought behind letting your child achieve this feat? Honestly, we were not thinking of making records with Aara. At an earlier stage, we realized her eagerness in grasping things within few months of parenting, it’s our baby Aara’s instinctive knowledge that lit the fire of motivation for us which made us easy to accomplish this feat. So the credit of getting inspired goes to our kid.

#3.  What

hobbies?

are your child’s

Since she is a toddler, it’s difficult to figure out her hobbies. But she loves seeing different flashcards; she plays with her all-time favorite toys Minion, rabbit, and baby doll. She will ask many questions. She makes a pseudo play like pretend to cook and serve food, birds and animal watching.

#4.  What

is your technique of teaching your child? The universal dismay of most parents is the very thought of initiation of premature mentoring of a toddler’s learning. We made an exception to this misconception and believed

6

India Book of Records | October 2021

learning begins at the first cry when a baby is born. We adopted a strategy of talking and spending time playing with her. As we talked to our baby frequently, one fine morning she started doing the activities we told her before. Moreover, we adopted the ritual of teaching with flashcards, 15 minutes every morning and evening. The flashcards should be flipped rapidly and read loudly so that it registers in a baby’s memory. We stop when she gets bored. Also, we act accordingly for the action words so that the toddler comprehends. Internet is full of strategies, but I would recommend following your instinct without emulating others or make a comparison. Every baby is unique and we need to train them. Always we parents are the best teacher to our kids.

#5.  What

is the next record you want to achieve? In the future, we would make a record of recalling all flag names and skeletons of the human body.

#6.  For

how many months did Aara needed to learn? She took three months to learn all the flags.

IBR talks to the author to know what prompted him to write the book. #1.  What

book?

inspired you to write this #4.  For how long did you plan this record?

I was suffering from cancer, and then one night, Jesus appeared and blessed me in my dream. I got healed and all my mental burdens were gone away. From then onwards, I became a devotee of Jesus Christ. This incident inspired me to write the book.

#2.  How

much time did you take to write the book? More than 6 hours daily and for about five months to complete the book.

#3.  What

challenges did you face while making the record? I never met any challenges, because most of the time I felt that Jesus was with me and encouraging me to write this book.

For more than two years.

his blessings, this project took shape”, adds Chandana. The project took almost three months including, selection, learning, and recording of the song. The path to make the record was not an easy one; she met with few challenges as she progressed. The first challenge was to select what languages she would include in her project and the second was picking up a song in a particular language. As she overcame these decisions, her next milestone was to get the pronunciation and the diction right. Talking about the support she received, Chandana says,

“I have been blessed, with wonderful parents who have encouraged and motivated me at every step of this project and also have been the backbone in my musical journey so far”. Chandana aims to pursue both music and academics equally. She wants to work as a data scientist and at the same time, wants to learn and get in-depth knowledge of Indian music. She believes music has no end; hence practicing and learning something new every day and creating something unique will always be her future goal.
