Largest portrait of Mahatma Gandhi made using multi-coloured bottle caps
The record for making the largest portrait of Mahatma Gandhi using multicoloured bottle caps was set by Manjesh Mohan of Kottayam, Kerala. He made the portrait, measuring 20 feet x 18 feet, with plastic bottle caps by pasting it on 30 different plywood sheets (each measuring 3 feet x 4 feet); finally painting with enamel colours. Working as an artist for the last 25 years, Manjesh Mohan’s artworks are nothing but breathtaking. He took 120 hours to finish the Mahatma Gandhi artwork. “My worship and love for Mahatma Gandhi inspired me to make this record. I created many works on Gandhiji,” says Manjesh. Making the artwork was not an easy one. Finding different coloured bottle caps and collecting them was a challenge. The artwork cost him forty thousand and preparation of three long months. As he plans for his next artwork, which is going to surpass in size the current one, he takes the opportunity to thank his family for the immense support they extended to him.
