F E E D B A C K Present built on past In my opinion, the geo-civilisational path is good in theory but for practical purposes, it is as obsolete as it can be. I do agree the past can be the foundation for the present, but in case of China and India, the turmoil is too apparent to be ignored. Our civilisations are perhaps the main cause of why we are different. Anamika Bala Cheers ICEC The way ICEC is trying to bridge the gap between India and China is highly commendable. The Chronicle has touched upon all crucial points that one can think of. I hope the magazine will impact on every Indian or Chinese (and anyone else) who read it. Paper tigers India and China can never be friends. China’s Communist culture is totally adverse to ours. We can work together for pure economical reasons, but that is all. Friendship is preposterous. Our language barriers and difference in our faiths can never be bridged. I know this is a very pessimistic view, but it is the hard truth. Your effort to bridge the gap between the two countries must be applauded but I hope it does not merely remain hostage to the written word. This is my personal opinion and I take responsibility for it. Sheothi Halder Looking forward I have read a lot of literature on Sino-Indian relationships and I felt that the articles in the last issue were by far the most precise and accurate take on it. I am looking forward to the next issue and my expectations are quite high. I am sure, I will not be disappointed. Shweta Bharadwaj
