Hospitality Scheme for 6th Edition of International Buddhist Conclave 2018 (August 22 - 25, 2018) Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, New Delhi in association with the State Governments of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar is organizing the 6th International Buddhist Conclave in Delhi & Ajanta Caves with site visits to Bodhagaya, Nalanda, Rajgir and Sarnath / Varanasi from August 22-25, 2018. The last Conclave was organized in New Delhi, Sarnath and Bodhgaya in October 2016. On this occasion, under the Hospitality scheme - India Tourism, New York would be extending Full Hospitality i.e. Economy Class Return Air Tickets, Domestic Air Transfer, Lodging & Boarding etc in r/o guests whose participation is approved by the Ministry of Tourism, New Delhi. If you are interested and would like to submit a proposal, kindly fill the Hospitality Proforma attached below and submit to Consulate General of India, Vancouver Office by return email (Email – indiaculsec@telus.net) not later than 27th July, 2018. The tentative Programme for the Buddhist Conclave - 2018 is attached herewith for your kind reference. Please note that all India trips offered to eligible guests are subject to final approval of Ministry of Tourism, New Delhi. Hospitality Proforma Tentative Itinerary for Buddhist Conclave

Know India Programme (KIP) 2018-19 www.kip.gov.in In order to meet the aspirations of the diaspora community, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, has decided to arrange a Know India Programme on Self Financing Basis on the following terms: i. The KIP will be available to PIO/OCI Card Holders in the age group 18 - 35 years irrespective of their generation and previous visits to India. ii. The Programme will be organised by the same Event Management Company (EMC) that is approved for the regular KIPs and at the same rates and conditions. The participants will have to bear the total cost of international and domestic travel, boarding and lodging, management fee of the EMC, international medical insurance, etc. Air tickets to/ from India and international medical insurance will be purchased directly by the participants. The logistic arrangements in India will be made by the EMC on payment basis and the money will be payable directly by the participants to the EMC. iii) Ministry will identify one or two state(s) to be visited by the participants, draw a structured programme schedule in coordination with the EMC and coordinate with the organisations concerned for waiver of entrance fee to various historic sites. iv) Other conditions like provision of gratis visa by the Mission, orientation programme at FSI, deployment of a liaison officer with the KIP group, etc. will remain the same as for a regular KIP. Note: Interested youth may please respond by 27th June 2018 by e-mailing the following proforma to indiaculsec@telus.net. The most preferred State would be chosen by Ministry of External Affairs. The website for the Self Financing KIP is likely to be activated by 10th July 2018 and the programme may commence by 25 July 2018.

Cultural – Heritage Tourism in India Great Himalayan National Park Conservation Area, Himachal Pradesh This National Park in the western part of the Himalayan Mountains in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh is characterized by high alpine peaks, alpine meadows and riverine forests. The 90,540 ha property includes the upper mountain glacial and snow meltwater sources of several rivers, and the catchments of water supplies that are vital to millions of downstream users. The GHNPCA protects the monsoon-affected forests and alpine meadows of the Himalayan front ranges. It is part of the Himalaya biodiversity hotspot and includes twenty-five forest types along with a rich assemblage of fauna species, several of which are threatened. This gives the site outstanding significance for biodiversity conservation. The Great Himalayan National Park Conservation Area, Himachal Pradesh entered the UNESCO world heritage list in 2014.

Engineering exports grow 20 per cent in April-May period The Indian engineering exports have managed to grow by close to 20 per cent for the April-May, 2018 , reflecting a “so far so good” scenario even as the US –China tariff war has spread to some key trading markets in Europe, Canada and Mexico and shows no early signs of abating, said the EEPC India, the apex body of engineering exporters. “In fact, the US has ranked as the numero uno exporting destination for the Indian engineering products in May 2018 and registered a cumulative expansion of 19.75 for the April-May period this fiscal, “ said the EEPC India analysis. While skirmishes had started early in 2017, the tariff row between the US and China began on a serious note since March this year and has only been rising with concerns whether it would have a cascading effect on the total global trade. 2. Indian seafood export reaches $7.08 billion India’s seafood export stands at 13,77,244 tonnes with a cash value of Rs.45,106.89 crores in the year 2017-18. In terms of quantity, the exports have increased by 21.35% while in terms of value the increase was that of 19.1% when compared with the exports in the previous year. Frozen shrimp and fish were the highest exported items in the seafood export basket that reached $7.08 billion from $5.77 billion figure from the last year. The major importers of Indian seafood were the USA with a share of 32.76% and South East Asia with a share of 31.59%. India’s space mission to search for trillion-dollar gas on moon The moon has plenty of Helium-3 fuel source, which is a trillion-dollar gas that is very rare on Earth, and India is set to hunt for this gas with its upcoming moon mission. India is planning to send a rover to the lunar surface on a mission to locate water and Helium-3 – a type of clean nuclear fuel worth trillions of dollars and is believed to fulfill the world’s energy needs for centuries. India’s moon mission Chandrayaan-2 will be launched in October by the country’s space agency and will hunt for the priceless gas in the moon’s crust, reported Bloomberg.
