Consul General Mrs. Abhilasha Joshi met Mr. Somen Debnath, an Indian National is on a world bicycle tour who is promoting Indian culture, spreading the message of peace and humanity as well as awareness on HIV / AIDS during his world tour which will cover 191 countries. He had started his tour in May 2004 and has already traveled to 151 countries and pedaled approx. 163,400 km before reaching Vancouver. (July 15, 2019)

Cultural Heritage - Festivals of India Drupka Teshi Festival (July 27, 2019) Drukpa Teshi celebration is commended by the Buddhists. The primary Noble Truth is the Noble Truth of torment. The Second Noble Truth is reality of the birthplace of torment Karma and Delusion and their causes. The third Noble Truth is the discontinuance of the misery or the accomplishment of Nirvana. The fourth Noble Truth is reality of the Eight Fold Path prompting Nirvana. This day is praised on the fourth day Teshi of the 6th month Drukpa of the Tibetan date-book in the long stretch of July or August consistently. This celebration is praised in Gangtok where the petitions are held at the Deer Park and at Muguthang in extraordinary North Sikkim and a Yak race is additionally held amid the celebration. India lifted 271 million people out of poverty between 2006 and 2016, says United Nations report India, in the last decade, has lifted 271 million people out of poverty, a United Nations report said on Thursday. 4. A Mobile application revolutionises the health service delivery in Bengaluru slums Community Health Workers working with children in Bengaluru slums now have a helping hand. A smartphone app leads them through a standard protocol of examinations helping to boost both the accuracy of diagnoses, as well as their confidence. These two mobile applications are changing the dynamics of the Maternal, New born and Child Health (MNCH) services management in the slum areas of Bengaluru. These applications, mainly meant for the health workers in Primary Health Centres (PHCs), have not only made the health services delivery more efficient, but also created a greater demand for such services among pregnant women and caregivers by improving their knowledge on the importance of MNCH. 5. Meet the 'Rocket Women of India' who are going to be steering Chandrayaan-2 On Wednesday, the ISRO announced that Chandrayaan-2, India's second mission to the moon, will be launched on July 15 at 2.15 AM from Sriharikota. This particular mission is an advancement of Chandrayaan-1, which was launched a decade ago. Chandrayaan-2 will scale the lunar surface and gather intel on minerals, rock formations and water. It will also be the first interplanetary mission that has a woman Project Director and a woman Mission Director. In fact, thirty percent of the team in charge of the mission is composed of women. 6. World Bank's first woman CFO & MD is an Indian Indian women are making strides in every nook and corner of the world and field. Till a few years ago, we had enough examples on the domestic front and now women are accomplishing volumes of success on the international platform as well. Adding another name to a list of people shining bright and high on the foreign shores is Anshula Kant, Managing Director of the State Bank of India. Kant has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the World Bank, President David Malpass announced on Friday.
